The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen,I know that most of you do not recognize me. It's been a long time since I've posted (it's been a long time since I've even started up any flight sim at all), but I do read the site at least a handful of times a day.I started thinking a bit ago how maybe I can join the ranks of all of you in helping to improve what we have in Fly, and that lead me to the conclussion that there is something that we can all do.Here's the ideas that I've come up with...1) This product called "Fly!2" is so drastically different then the box that I bought some time ago with the name "Fly!2" on the cover. Perhaps we can begin working together as a mass organiz…

Simply hold down the CTRL key (you'll see that the mouse cursor turns into a Hand) and then just left-click and drag the panel in whichever direction you want with your mouse! It's instant! This is certainly not new, and maybe most of you already knew it, but I've been using Fly! since day 1 and I just realized this today!!! Until today I've been using the keyboard to pan left/right and up/down or the Flight Yoke buttons...You can then disable the Mouse Scrolling under OptionsCockpit and avoid the deadly and undesirable "runaway mouse" that scrolls your panel all the way down or up during a landing... Been there, done that.Hope I'm not the only one who didn't know this...R…

Hi Folks, I wonder if it is a thing that can be fixed by a novice like me or something I will have to live with. Problem 1:I am turned onto the ILS for Runway 34 at CYYC, the needles are perfectly lined up and I switch to Approach on the auto pilot. The plane turns about 16 degrees left and brings me in to a perfect ILS landing with the needles still reading to my right. Is this to do with magnetic variaton? and can I do anything to correct this. It also happens on arrival at any of the English airports.Problem 2: I save the weather cycle report & it is in the METAR folder as a .txt file and clearly reads that last Sunday at KLGA the wind was 29024G30KT, FLY2 transla…

I just got my computer back from the shop. It's now nicely upgraded and I was anxious to see how much better Fly!2 would run.The program loads up great...... the little "fuel gauge" fills up snappily. Unfortunately, that's as good as it gets! As soon as it loads up, I get a DirectX8 3D Driver Error: "DrawIndexPrimitive SVertex failed" message.I ran DX Diagnostics and everything checks out fine. I'm using the same video card as before the upgrade (GEForce2 Ti), the same Op. System (Win98SE), the same video drivers (ver. 29.32 I think), the same DX 8.1, and Fly!2 was working OK before the upgrade. So now what could the problem be? I upgraded from a P3 700 mhz, 320mg …
