I remember when I first joined Avsim, many, many years (should I say decades?) ago. I choosed a nick name, maybe was it ILS26 or LLBG I don't remember, something unremarkable and not really original. Few years later I registered using my real name because I was feeling among friends, brothers or colleagues and I wanted to be myself. The "old" Avsim main forum page became very quickly my "virtual" home and then I became part of this bunch of great people who give their time for the others because they want to share their passion. Just Flight is having a 1/2 price sale on float planes. I just picked up the Aerosoft Twin Otter X and Beaver X. They are a little old but I have been wanting a Beaver with wheels since FSX came out, and have had my eye on the Twin Otter for a long time. Today was a good time to get both. There are a few others, like the Catalina on sale also.

Gents, I noticed some default a/c and even some lite add-ons show the actual runway display on the ND. Does the runways show in real life, in all a/c like MD-11, Boeings, and Airbus? Why I cant see it on any major add-ons. Are there in real life, or am I missing some kind of setting on all of my a/c, such as the PMDG 737 NGX? -- I like when it displys the actual runway on the display; it gives you a good idea where you are in reference to the runway you want to land at? I love it for hand flying at night, or during a thunderstorm, where visibility is at minumum.

Which of these 2 scenery paks is the best? I love flying to and from Vegas. Aerosoft looks pretty good to me, but I'll ask you. Stan

I was gone as I was discouraged by constant FSX CTD, they didn't happened during every flight but nearly. I am now back, should I move on to P3D? Is it where the community is going towards?

Hi all; I just got me the Eurofighter add-on made by AFS-Design and I'm most impressed. I guess the superb HUD and cockpit layout must have been designed by a pilot. Aircraft handling and flight dynamics are perfect and the auto pilot modes have the capability of an airliner, including flight data calculations like range, fuel, time remaining etc. The hook allows trap landings on carriers while the powerful engines get you off without catapult. This aircraft is a must for me!!! However, the only bother are the bright HUD and cockpit lights at night and I can't find the dim knob. May be someone has found it already? I have two dilemmas. I'm currently on Windows 7 64-bit and have started experiencing the 'Fatal Error' nonsense. I messed with the uiautomationcore.dll and then re installed FSX to desktop because I thought the fix would be to get it out of x86. I thought it was operating smoothly, but I still got the dreaded fatal error mid-flight from clicking on the map....it's driving me crazy!!!!!! The original FSX that was in x86 was never really uninstalled because I wasn't able to (received error at uninstall)--which led me to deleting registry keys and more frustration. PLEASE! Hello, I have FSX and I also have very great hardware (Specs in sig.) My FPS fluxuates very rapidly from 33-12-76-16-32. Can someone help? My settings are low, but I have on Antialiasing, and Anisotropic filtering.

I've just installed the enb series in fsx. My question: does FSX start with ENB active, or do I need to press shift-F12 to turn it on? After pressing shift-F12 a few times, I got lost. How does one know with full certainty that enb is on? tc

Hi, I have had FSX installed on my "new" pc (specs in signature) for about six months now, and I have gone through endless forums on how to improve performance, and I have managed to get my performance up to a pretty good level (most scenery settings maxed, all traffic except for GA at 40%). I use the BP=0 tweak, but I tend to get artifacts when panning. When I try to use bufferpools or delete the [bufferpools] section in FSX.cfg (Rebuilding didn't help), I get endless stutters in wing, spot, and locked spot views (I have enough VRAM-2 GB). Hello flight simmers, this is my first post very excited for feedback! So I was wondering what are people's favorite airports to fly in and more importantly, why? for me I enjoy KBOS, Boston Logan Airport of Boston, Massachusetts I live about 30 minutes away from Logan and i think I've probably flown there 10-20 IRL and maybe 30 times in FSX. -Max

I know in the FS2004 days, we used Alacrity PC to stop services and unload extraneous apps that put themselves in msconfig and start during boot. Is there something similar for Windows 7? I've been starting task manager while FSX is starting and stopping services I won't need and unload Yahoo Messenger, Adobe, Java VNC Server etc..

As I understand it this program manages addons for fsx. I've had a few OOM's lately so have been using process explorer to track memory usage and couatl.exe is taking up 152,456K of VAS. This is very valuable VAS, so my question is can I disable it somehow, and what are the consequences?

Ive returned to simming after a long absence, and have started the usual path of installing add-ons, etc. Ive upgraded FSX to SP2. One thing I suddenly noticed was that the generic buildings are missing from my airports. Guess I hadn't noticed if they were there prior to installing the service packs, so I dont know if the packs are the source of the problem. I apologize if this issue has been addressed a long time ago, but a search of Avsim hasn't turned up much. Any help? Ive also installed REXEssentials and UT-USA for FSX. When I pull the airports into Airport Design Editor, it shows the buildings are there.

I recently downloaded PADs' BAE146 100/200. They both have tiny annoying thingy in the panel BMP; A little bit of line that shows at the edge of the a/p's consol just in front of the window. I have contacted theire support page and Bob has been very kind to reply and send me his original BMP,which he says doesn't have the little line,In reality it's just a speck, but it annoys me.Does anyone know of a way of editting it out,theire softwarre isn't Dx10 compatible, but I don't think this is the case? Good morning, I have recently started flying with IVAO and I noticed a strange thing. I always fly full screen and got the 1/2 refresh rate vertical sync thing enable... Everything is OK.... Now as soon as I connect to iVap, i got a strange wave effect on the screen.... It looks a bit like if had not enabled vsync... A kind of little wave effect.... Do you have any idea where it comes from ? Why is this happening only when connecting to iVap ? Thank you, Greg

Finally got round to setting up the live camera, works perfectly in windowed mode. When I change to full screen it all goes haywire. Any thoughts ? Thanks

Hi I have purchased the FSX STD version, I also downloaded ADE to change my AFD files, but that needed SDK. I purchased FS Acceleration Pack from Amazon. I installed the Acceleration pack Now when go into the sub folder to install the SDK, it tells me that I must install SDK SP1 first, when I try to install SDK Sp1 it then tells me I need to have the original SDK installed, it keeps going round in circles. I have read on FS Developer,but despite following the instruction,I still encounter the above problem. I am using Windows 7 ( Using programmes as an Admin) Intel Core i5 3.10GHZ 8192MB RAM Thanks

Hi FSX folks, Is it possible to install jetblast in fsx?I saw this in a number of youtube movies and it looked very nice and realistic.I googeld for a download link but can't find one. Somebody knows if its possible? :blush: Thanks.

Has anybody else has the problem whereby TCAS detects your own aircraft and constantly gives aural 'TRAFFIC' alerts? It doesn't matter which aircraft I am flying, I see the same behaviour in the Feel There, LDS and the NGX. I tried changing the FSUIPC identifier inside FSX but no effect. I've searched but not found an answer. Appreciate a fix for this most annoying problem!

Hi OPUS team, I would like to upgrade to the newest beta versions but I like to retain my camera and DHM settings. Is there a way I can do so without having to uninstall the old version first, or can I just install over the latest beta? Ok I asked this question before but the answer was not clear and cut. When I open FSX i select the aircraft, time, location, etc. Now what about the weather tab? Obviously I dont want to select a weather theme cause I dont want that. Now that leaves static weather, real world weather updating every 15 minutes, or user-defined. What option do I need to select? To my understanding the LWE will inject the weather into the sim by a selecting timeframe or distance flown. Thanks for the help. Justin
