Folks, I'm about to start my PPL training (IRL) in the San Francisco Bay Area (flying out of KSQL) and would love to replicate the environment in FSX for some at-home pre- and post-lesson left-seat time. What would you FSX sages recommend in terms of the best airport and VFR scenery to use with my A2A C172? I tried the Blue Sky Bay Area scenery but didn't like the orthophoto/photo-real approach (too flat and sterile when low and slow). Is there a good KSQL rendition available? What about a good Bay Area mesh as well as scenery? Paid or free, doesn't matter. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Hi all, So I just purchased DBS Studios "TAWS" software for FSX and I’m getting an error on install warning me that it can’t continue due to a missing “mfc100ud.dll” file. I have Microsoft Visual C++ 2005, 2008 (both x86 and x64), 2010 (both x86 and x64) and 2012 (both x86 and x64) installed on my system (the 2010 x86 version should have this .dll I beleive) so I'm at a loss as to how to fix this. I've uninstalled both 2010 x86 and x64 and reinstalled them but no joy - still get the error. Anyone have any experience with DBS TAWS? Anyone else run into this problem? I've sent an email to DBS Studio's support but I've read that their support can be spotty and…

Hello, I really want to convert this scenery (http://xpfr.org/?body=scene_accueil&seek=EBSH&x=-1425&y=-158) from XP to FSX because it is the airport where I fly in the real world and there is no one for FSX. And this one looks like really realistic. So I wanted to know if there is a way to switch from a scenery from X-Plane to FSX. I already searched on the Internet but I only found to switch from X-Plane to FSX... A BIG THANKS to the person who can help me

I have had this software for a good while now and had no issues until recently. I don't know what caused it but no airports are available in its database. I rebuild the database several time and noticed it is reading my scenery data from a non existing directory. This causes EFB to have no airport data available. Now why did this happen? No idea. How can this be fixed? Its not looking in the default directory, I attached a pic to show what I mean.

For default and add-on FSX airports is there a way to get pushback vehicles for all A.I. AC? It looks so unreal to see AI AC parked right beside you moving backward from their gates all on their own? Do payware titles address this? I have 2 FSDT Airports?

Whenever I restart a flight, if I take a peek outside the cockpit, in either of the outside views, spot or locked spot, it zooms in so close that I can't really see anything other than the middle of the plane. Is there a fix for this?

Sorry if this has been asked and answered. And yes I am doing the tutorials in FSX and elsewhere. Anyhow, live in Anchorage Alaska where there are more airstrips than people, never let the truth get in the way of a good story New to FSX and can manage to land at airports with PAPI, not brilliant but definitely walking away. My problem is I can figure out what the "sight picture" should be for an unmarked bush strip and landings are "horrific" Little help please.

First off, I am quite impressed at the level of detail that is in the World Of AI Packages. I don't know why I have been stuck with the pretty much useless UT2 for quite some time. I have come across a small issue though - I was flicking through the AI aircraft to observe the great detail in these models and came across a WestJet 737 pretty much doing a nose dive on descent. Is this a bug? http://i1313.photobucket.com/albums/t543/GeekinCloset/2014-1-9_20-52-37-517_zps4802f820.png

This is almost certainly not an OpusFSX issue, but I'm asking here because folks here are knowledgeable about (and care about) weather effects. When flying an autopilot-coupled ILS Rwy 19R approach into KSNA (John Wayne Airport, in Southern California, which is sort of my "home" airport when I fly on the PilotEdge network), I hit a pocket of heavy turbulence at almost exactly the same place every single time I fly the approach, irrespective of what weather is current. The characteristics of the turbulence are identical every time -- a severe updraft of about 2000 FPM at 3-4 DME from the airport, followed by a severe downdraft of about the same magnitude at about 1-1.…

In FSX if I click on clear skies or partly cloudy skies, I will get clouds. A lot of time I will encounter rain or snow and very low visibility while landing. I will list only the items that are checked in OPUS ; There is also cloud popping. I have REX, but that weather is disabled along with FSX Weather. - Disable weather updates on start up. - Adjust options automatically. - Adjust Sim friendly options. * Download Options - Weather refresh every 10 mins. - Weather Updates every 20 mins. - Sim friendly Grib temperature. _ Background Grib processing. - Disable update on approach. -NOAA Server. * Smoothing and Stabilization. - Automatic wind stabilization. - E…

Hi Avsimmers, I have been back on FSX recently and i have been wanting to save flights, because why not? Anyway I have tried to save a file and it doesnt come up in the menu. I get a load of lessons and default flights like Checkride and Lesson 1: VFR Approach. None of my save flights, just many of these default ones. So I did some research and found that the flights should be in my documents under flight simulator X files. No such folder exists (EVEN after multiple uninstalls + reinstalls). Any help to solve this mystery would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Myles

Do AFCADS determine if a parked AC is lit with lighting at night? I'm wondering as I've seen several A/C that I swore had night lighting... i.e. window lights and tail lights completely dark when parked at terminal gates and other locations around the various Airports.

Ok, I have some cash burning a hole in my pocket, and rather than spending it on my family's future well being, I think I'm going to throw it down on some Flightsim software. Nothing new there. I have been looking long and hard at RealityXP, and my only real information prior to today was listening to people on flightsim sites raving about it, and demanding integration for it from aircraft developers. I would like a nice realistic GPS, and it apparently integrates nicely with the new A2A 172 which I have. All sorts of other aircraft in my hanger claim various levels of compatibility too, and to be honest I don't even mind using it as a popup on some aircraft. Le…

Hi everyone, I´ve posted a first impression on this issue for the first time in the FS9 forum, but as it evolved I decided to ask here as well, cause it also relates to FSX. I was running FS9 for years with no issues whatsoever, in an i7 2.67Ghz with 8GB and a GTS250. Changed the GTS250 for a GTX760 about a month ago and it kept running fine. Then I had a conflict with an add-on and FSUIPC that ruined my fps and had to reinstall FS9. After reinstalling, I started to have lots of problems on 2D panels, especially when changing views, opening/closing sub-panels or clicking on the panel itself: noticeable hangs, flickering, tearing, blurriness (when using Inspector…

When I click on "Download" for any SID, STAR, ILS, RNAV approach, etc. I get a error message instead of the SID/STAR, etc. popping up in a new window. This is happening on two different computers and each computer uses a different internet provider. Is anyone else seeing this? On both computers I have tried IE10 and Firefox 26.0. This was all working the last time I looked at something two or three weeks ago. http://www.airnav.com/airport/KBOS

Hi! I've been using FSUIPC axis and buttons assignment for my stick and yoke for quite a time now. I had to unplug everything from my machine when a additional SSD had to be built in. I thought, I plugged all the USB devices into the same ports as before, but obviously I didn't. My yoke or stick are now referred as joy #4 which hasn't any assignments. So they both don't work anymore, no matter which port I tried. Is there a simple solution or do I have to reconfigure everything? Thanks in advance!

Hello This may have been posted already but I cant find it in the forums Ive noticed that there is a signifcant delay in response to helicopter controls, more so the yaw axis when DNH is activated. Ive tried this with several payware helicopters, Milviz, Cera and Nemeth Once DHM is unticked the response to the control returns to normal Current version I have is 3.4 I reported this previously and still not having any luck If Opus is started up when FSX starts up, no other exit on the plane or helo responds to the key assignment to open or close other than the main exit ie: If I press shift+e the main door opens and closes no problem, …

Hey guys, Just landed in Calcutta where I was very much looking forward to a lovely cat3 ILS approach in poor visibility however this didnt go as planned... The visibility generated was closer to 10000m than 50m as per the METAR, and the weather report (in the FSX menu) was saying as much. Heres the METAR given by IVAO : VECC 100120Z 00000KT 0000 R19L/M0050 RMID/M0050 R01R/M0050 FG VV/// 11/10 Q1015 NOSIG I have been flying eith the NOAA server as primary source of weather. After landing I tried to select IVAO instead, and Tada ! Thought it was worth mentionning to the dev team! Or did I do something wrong? Cheers, best investment I've made for a weather softwa…

I'm just curious ... Like everyone involved in this hobby I really look forward to new aircraft and the challenge of learning to operate and fly them. Personally, though I appreciate the effort that goes into writing thorough documentation, I learn best by using tutorials. A well written tutorial gives me a nice overview of aircraft systems and allows me to get flying without having to slog through page-after-page of manuals. Keep writing good manuals but give me a good tutorial too. I was just curious how other simmer's like to learn. Dave
