Hey Everyone, I'm looking for help with the Legacy. I read this in a previous post: "I suggest that when approaching the pattern, you set about 19-20 inches of MP and maintain about 2400 RPM. This should get you to about 110 KIAS. Then, you throttle down to 17 inches when you lower the flaps the first notch and this drops you down to where you can drop the landing gear. Keep 17 MP and go to full RPM, trim for a 500 foot per minute descent rate and when on a 45 degree angle to the runway on downwind (past the runway) turn to base leg and drop flaps to its second detent. On final approach, when landing appears ensured (meaning good glidepath and no traffic on t…

I use a simple math equation for figuring out how far planes will actually fly on a DME arc. This is helpful for me at work because we sequence arrivals and it's good to know where the guys on the arc will end up in regards to other practice approaches. I also find this useful in FSX, where I'm flying an arc, without any VNAV. I can choose when to descend to keep my speed up on the approach. Anyway, the official equation to solve for distance traveled on a DME arc is: 2 * Pi * r *(# degrees in arc / 360). Pi being 3.14..., r is the radius (DME) of the arc, To find number of degrees just look at the approach plate, and do the basic math between the final approac…

Have only had Ultimate Traffic 2 installed for 2-3 days, but I'm noticing a substantial increase in the number of "please expedite climb" requests from the FSX ATC to respective AI planes. When you have 3 or 4 smaller GA planes getting hammered by the ATC to climb faster every 2 minutes, it gets old fast and makes the default ATC more annoying than usual. I have RC4.3 which I use as my primary ATC, but I do like to have the FSX ATC running at low volume in the background - I find it provides plenty of background chatter and I use it for progressive taxi and ground ops (especially on arrival...the Radar Contact "Taxi to the ramp" is woefully inadequate). I know …

Good news! For those that haven't heard, Bryan York confirmed on the 2nd January 2014 that he is now developing FS2Crew for the Majestic Q400 More details at http://forum.avsim.net/topic/417243-q-400-news/?p=2895738 For those that haven't heard of FS2Crew, it simulates a virtual first officer (which can be voice controlled) and will perform all the first officer's flows and checklist, and also assist in managing the aircraft.

I have installed FSX, once again! (Quit for 3 months in favor of WarThunder) I'm wondering what I can delete safely to save space? I'm only flying in the USA. So I only need the NorthAmerican Scenery (Canada) to, my current install is 30GB, I really hope I can find a way to make it smaller! Thanks everyone!

Hi, does anybody have any ideas on how to lower the nose pitch on the 747 400 on FSX? It just dosn't seem right I'm flying at 37000 ft and there are vapour trails coming off the end of both wings. I guess this is because the nose is too high for cruising speed. Thnx

Hey folks, I found this file in the AVSIM library yesterday and it's really fantastic. You know how most high quality aircraft come with lovely immersive cockpit sounds?..... like the RealAir Duke, A2A, etc.... but then you get some with no cockpit sounds whatsoever, like the Carenado aircraft (until recently) and of course the default aircraft, but also many other addons have no soudns for switches etc. Well this lovely little free add-on gives you fantastic switch sounds in all aircraft that use default XML code, for switches like 'Batt', 'Generators', 'Parking Brake', etc. You do also need Douglas Lawson's free sound gauge installed, but that is also avai…

I have disabled my joystick in FSX settings (by unclicking it) to allow me to run it through FSUIPC as I suffer from the dreaded Windows 8 disappearing joystick trick. However, everytime I start FSX the controller box is ticked again. I then have to restart FSX and it is then OK. It appears that the FSX.cfg file is not saving the settings. Anyone know how to solve this thanks?

I have a 1kmx 1km flat land square that showed up just off Saba Island. It's obviously not supposed to be there and I have FlyTampa Marteen installed. I never noticed this before and don't believe that the FLYTampa add-on should effect my landclass off this island? Is there something I can do to get this back to water? THANKS!

Before I installed OpusFSX, I used to run REX with its weather engine on and, during stormy weather, realistic sounds of thunder and lighting were coming up very nicely. However, after installing Opus, I noticed that no sounds do ever come up at all. Since I am no longer using REX, (had disable the weather engine and only use the cloud textures), I would like to know how to get such sounds. I looked in options but could not find clues as far as sound was concerned. Could anyone help me with this issue? Many thanks, George - Prepar3d v1.4 - OpusFSX3.39.0 Beta

Hi, Tried to search a solution for this issue, but couldn't find it. If I assign pitch trim to one of the axes of my controller, altitude hold stops working. This is very close to another issue I had. Controlling pitch trim with axis is convenient, but often it is hard to find the right setting, always overshoot. Then, I tried to assign pitch trim up and down functions to two more buttons on the controller. So, I wanted to change trim with axis and then fine-tune it with buttons. But it didn't work. When buttons are pressed, trim is changed, but then is reset back to the original value, which is read from the axis. I solved this issue simply by reducing sensitivity of…

Can GA aircraft use them? I am aware that certain ones are for only aircraft that are, say RNAV capable, or what not, but does this mean that no GA aircraft can use them in RL?

Hello and a happy new year I hope someone can help me with something I have noticed ,I have come across a strange issue regarding frame rates/ smoothness with my set up, When I first load up the sim and peform my first take off at Gatwick (UK2000) all is fine and i have a nice smooth take off, If I then press esc and do it again the frame rate drops by nearly half and its very jerky. If I then quit the sim completely and restart then its all fine again. I have tried reducing sliders and this makes no real difference, the only way I can get it to run fine again is by restarting the sim completely Could it have something to do with the amount of entries in my scener…

Hi there, Does the "Volumetric Fog" setting in P3DV2 need to be disabled when using Live Weather? I've noticed that visibility is almost always obscured when keeping this setting enabled and using the live weather engine (regardless of the actual conditions). Thanks, Dylan

Ive tried the FSL Concorde X but its very difficult to handle without FS2Crew or MCE and it causes a lot of OOMs. Any other options or planes? Looking for good systems, an FMC/autopilot. I have seem an Sr71 but i think it uses the FSX GPS?

Hi As a new owner of a Saitek yoke and throttle (no pedals yet) I was wondering what the consensus is regarding the assignment of buttons/switch etc , Is it better to use the Saitek profiler or use fsuipc? I also use Opus camera's and weather which means I have to have the enable controller ticked in fsx, which may cause problems using fsuipc, just wondered what other people do or use in similar cicumstances? all the best for 2014 rgds Pete

The good folks at QW have out an update on their page. The screenshot of the cockpit is quite good. From their page: 787 Update The full focus of the entire development team is on finally once again on the 787, after having to use the majority of our resources on the Ultimate 146...all the time trying to manage some real-life situations that we all have to deal with. It's been a challenge trying to figure out a way to manage the complex Load Shedding systems on this very power hungry aircraft WITHOUT oversimplification. The Ultimate 146 is a good baseline for the complexity that we try to maintain with subsequent releases...although we are admittedly re…

There's the default one right.. then there's flight1 or 'just flight' (can't recall) dc-3 which is only little improvement over the default... judging from shots ofc. So, kinda funny, but why no developer takes on a modern fsx/p3d dc-3 project? eg, A2A could make an awesome one... PS, I saw XP10 has a fantastic looking dc-3 add-on available. <_<
