This is/was Chuck Lischer's Marchetti SF260; Chuck Lischer was killed June 27 2006 when a small military jet he was piloting during a radar test crashed into a wooded area near Ocean City Municipal Airport in Maryland. He was 61. I expect he's now giving aerobatic lessons to the angels. Chuck was a very well known aerobatic display pilot in his F260 which, over the years had many paint jobs, all of them dark blue. My repaint represents, as far as I can manage, the way it looked just prior to his crash. There are a couple of anomalies which are down to the modelling of RealAir's marvellous add-on. The rivet counters among you will quickly suss them out! :smi…

Hi Good People, Over at the Ford Project Site we have released the last 6 of the Jenny Liveries. All 6 are fictional repaints created for some fun flying: PCPilot Special (a fun repaints, visually entertaining) Birdman Flying Circus (wings, feathers and other stuff) The Great Waldo Pepper (in the movie it was a Standard) Ford Golden Metal Effect (pushing shiny metal effects) Halloween Special 2014 (almost that time again) Christmas Special (Santa) (a nice Santa/Winter theme) Below is a sample. You can download these last 6 of 74 FREE Curtiss Jenny liveries at: Direct Link: http://www.ford-tri-motor.net/curtiss-jenny.htm This last batch concludes…

Just flew VFR in a Virtualcol ATR 72 from Bozeman to Jackson Hole over Orbx scenery. Totally unrealistic flight of course. I don't think there are any 72's still flying in America, though I could be wrong. The Virtualcol 72 is quite simple compared to a PMDG bird or the Majestic Dash 8 (which I own and love), and it would never fly via VFR any way. But my point is that this was FUN. I fear we spend too much time trying to be completely accurate, or to prove which sim is better than which, and forget to just enjoy ourselves. There is no wrong way to enjoy the hobby, just right ways.

So after countless hours of tweaking trying to get my system to run smoothly with simple add-ons and not being happy, I decided after reading many posts to try and do a fsx.cfg rebuild. I backed up my tweaked .cfg (already had a back up of the original un-touched .cfg too) and removed it from the folder where it resides. I then opened FSX and let it rebuild itself. I put back in all my settings in FSX. After that I did two simple tweaks, HIGHMEMFIX and 4096 texture lod. Upon doing this I instantly had a few problems. PMDG cockpit textures aren't loading half of the time. Sometimes all I am seeing is a frame and invisible panels. The menus are also doing this.…

So what is the situation with FSP and PMDG NGX for example? Will FSP manage payloads correctly or I must manage it via NGX payload editor? I guess all airplanes in FSX that use default FSX payload dialog are compatible with FSP way of managing payload? What about FSCaptain and payload managing compatability?

Hi, I'm able to get the A2A P-51 Civilian version to follow the "magenta line," however, I'm not able to get the auto-pilot to follow the GPS generated glideslope when executing an LPV approach. I did set the following variable below = 1 in the aircraft.cfg file to enable the glideslope symbols in the HSI, otherwise there was a green NAV flag showing it disabled: flight_director_available=1 Any suggestions on how to make this work? Dear lord, FSX ATC is bad but today it was mind bending. This morning I just wanted to go up and do some pattern work. I started up at KMRY and it was running departures and arrivals to 10R...but touch and goes to 28R. UGH! So...let's get away from that. I hunt around and there's Olympia up in Washington. FSX starts me out on 35 and I decide I'll skip ATC and just do a pattern. I takeoff and land, seeing traffic coming the opposite way. No big deal, I'll just turn around and depart on 17. I turn around and see this: Yup...that's a King Air on a 3 mile final with traffic coming the opposite direction on a 1 mile final. If I hurry, I can…

I've just bought REX Latitude. To some reason I can't log in to my REX forum account at the moment. My question is: how to switch weights from LBS to KG in Latitude? I fly only in Europe and I can't figure out why Latitude shows LBS only. Thanks, Dirk.

Looking for some advice on the best AI traffic addon out there but it has to be: - fully compatible with DX10 (fixer) - more fps-friendly than WOAI (this one kills performance in DX10) - compatible with VOXATC - freeware or payware doesn't matter as long as the planes look good and work flawless Any ideas?

Progress continues in the OpusFSI development which will be released later on in the year. New Camera Management and Editing We have changed the way camera views are managed and edited, separating the Management and Editing functions in two separate dialogs. The idea being when you click on the Cameras option you will be faced with the Camera Management dialog. This dialog will allow you to view all cameras, change their listed order, restrict the list to a specific set of assigned aircraft, select a camera for editing, select a camera for cloning, or add a completely new camera. Only when you opt to edit, clone, or add a new camera will the dialog be repl…

I run pretty much the 'out of the box' FSX Gold/Acceleration pack using the Saitek yoke and throttle control or the Logitech 3D Pro stick. I plan to buy the pedals eventually. I have also downloaded the BA 747 and that's about it. So what are the 'must have' software add-ons? Looking to spice up the cockpits a bit and possibly improve ATC from the MS version. I'm fine with the scenery and can update specific airports as necessary. I'm sure this has been asked and answered before, but couldn't see anything recent. Thanks

Generally I always find that rivers and lakes tend to appear in a light blue colours, whereas in real life and at altitude generally water would reflect and appear as a very dark blue and a range of shades to light grey. It could also appear as a brownish colour in some other areas. I have REX Essentials Overdrive and have tweaked water colours there but it doesn't always seem to work. Is there any other way of tweaking the watercolours in FSX? Thanks

Hi Folks, Been getting back into FSX lately and have a question for you all. I'm currently running FSX on my desktop - i5 2320 processor with an NVIDIA 560ti card, running Windows 7. Using the FSDT KORD scenery, PMDG T7, UT2, GEX, UTX, Rex 4+Essential textures and weather, and Radar Contact, I can get 15 FPS generally. I'm not disappointed with this, but of course I'd love better performance. I also have a gaming laptop - MSI GT70 with an i7 4700MQ processor and an NVIDIA GTX 770M processor. It's running Windows 8.1. Realistically, would moving to the gaming laptop result in a truly noticeable improvement in performance? Right now, upgrading the desktop i…

Hi all- I'm interested in buying these for the P3D Lionheart Lear. I'm assuming they will work correctly? Also are these a replacement for the existing GPS and do they go together as a set? One last question: Can these be used across multiple aircraft, or are they installed into one and parked there? Thanks, Mark

I was just wondering do the schedules they use support Australian airlines such as Virgin Australia and Qantas ect?

I just upgraded to ASN SP1, and have REX Essential + OD and also Active Sky 2012. I dislike the length of time REX and ASN take to download and inject weather so don't tuse them except for an occasional change of cloud bitmaps. I usually pleased with ASN's rendering of cloudscape, it seems quite accurate when I compare with what I see out of the window at home. However, down here in Cornwall, UK, we had a fresh unstable Atlantic airstream yesterday bringing some magnificent towering Cumulonimbus clouds, very heavy rain showers with a bit of hail and some thunder. Flying GA/VFR in FSX from my local airfield, I didn't see any Cu Nim, just the usual array of Cum…

Is it safe to switch off the following Areas in scenery.cfg depending on where you're flying? Hello all, I recently reinstalled FSX and have been adjusting settings ever since, trying to figure what works and what doesn't. One thing I noticed is that AI traffic has a huge impact on FPS, much more than in FS9, or so it seems. I was wondering why my framerate in the air was often only at 18-22 fps at best with AI set to ~80% commercial and ~20% GA. I reduced it to 45% commercial, no GA, and my framerate spiked up to 30-50 fps. I am using mostly WoAI and some packages pieced together by myself that should use pretty much the same models. Is there anything else I can do aside from turning down traffic as much as possible? Thanks.

Hi everyone, I'm sorry if this has been asked before but the only threads I could find were from years ago. I'm just wondering if there is a decent A380 (either freeware or payware) for FSX? Thanks.

Just curious . . . Anybody know what size of high-def flat screen TV would show actual size panel gauges in a forward view of the windscreen using a 0.7-0.8 zoom?
