Hello Fellow Simmers,I have a question... Let's say I'm flying in a part of the world I'm unfamiliar with and I wish to land at a nearby airport... Is there a way to contact that airport and have them vector you in to the assigned runway?I ask you this because this is possible in X-Plane... I know you can do this in FS2002 if you have previously filed for an IFR flight to a specific airport. But let's say you have real bad weather or an emergency and wish to land at a nearby airport... How can I do this? Is it possible to get vectored in? If not, is there a 3rd party program that can do this? Thanks for your assistance... Regards,Carlos

Hey guys,Been away for a while due to work committments, however, am looking forward to getting back into the cockpit once again! I recall a while back before I went on my FS drought that there was a group working on an FS2K2 Saab 340. The full package if I recall correctly. Anyone know who this group is/was, and if this project has been released as of yet, or where it stands? I bookmarked the site when I first discovered it, but I just recently redid my system, and stupid me, forgot to backup my bookmarks! :-madIf anyone has any info on this, I'd greatly appreciate it! I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on a good turbo prop. And the Saab 340 looked like …

Hi, Someone recently posed a question about Afcad and how to use it. I recently installed afcad myself and am learning how to nail it down. My question is: How does one get a whole bunch of aircraft to show up? I see pictures throughout forums showing a lot of planes parked at gates or taxing etc, ect. Thank for any responses, S.

I just have a question I hope that someone can help me with. My computer specs are as follows. I have system that I have built. I have a Abit BX6 rev 2 MB,Celery II 550MHz OC'd to 850, Voodoo 5500 agp video board, 256MB ram, SB Live sound card. It does ok but not great. I see that I can get a Geforce3 TI200 for around $109.99 at Best Buy. I really don't do alot of gaming any more. Just a few sims is about it. I have really liked the FSAA of the Voodoo board. My question is will I gain much at all by getting the Geforce board, with the rest of my system staying the same? I am sure that someone elso has done something simular. Just wondering. Thanks for any help.Ron

I realize I may be the only one wanting to do this but I just got a new Palm Pilot and I'm looking for new things to do with it. There are a host of moving map displays for the Palm, some practically free, but they rely on a GPS (even a cheap one) to drive the lat/long. Has anyone explored whether the NMEA output could come from a computer and use FSUIPC to drive the Palm while using Flight Sim? I'm planning to use the Palm in real world flying but this would create an interesting way to become familiar with it.David

The first time I downloaded the package I thought that it had a working airspeed indicator, Altimeter, and Artifical Horizon. Now I downloadad another, and got rid of the old one, and no gauges. Just a grey plain panel, with bitmaps of gauges over on the pedestal and co-pilot side. If you own any of the Thrustmaster joysticks and/or gamepads with force feedback, and are running WIN XP, and FS2002, you might experience crashes. I do with mine. The flight sim will just shutdown after about 15 mins or so of use. No warning, no error messages, just crash and shutdown. This is what the Thrustmaster company says....Dear Customer,We are aware of this situation, and are currently seeking a work-around for this. As far as we know, this is not actually driver related but rather a bug in Microsoft Flight sims games. As soon as we get a fix for this, it will be available on the website.Best Regards,The Guillemot Technical Support TeamI wont get into a debate whos…

What are the chances of seperating the ATC from the rest of the sounds so that you could in theory listen to ATC on a headset and let the other sounds be heard over the speakers? Taken into fact that two sound cards would probably be needed.Kil~

hi ! Since the beginning I'm having an annoying bug here :Whenever I want to slew my aircraft that has a speed of ZERO to some place, when I release it from slew it suddenly picked up to 250 kts !Si imagine if I'm at the gate and I want to quickly take-off. I just hit "Y", move myself to the runway threshold, then hit "y" again. Since FS5.1 I can remeber this working with no problem. But in FS2002 when I hit "y" again to get out of slew, the aircraft is virtually "catapulted" in the airs at 250 kts !Any suggestions ?Andr

I Have had enough of the Moderator Forums here, This place has become less and less for the benefit for those that have contributed to FS and is lost touch with the base, thanks for the support in the past Tom but I have had enough of the Moderator Forum!I know the Moderators have there work cut out for them at times, but to put "this will cause us to work more" )as this is really what has become the issue) in front of some decent and well intention post by those who give this place its spine, well I dont get it, totaly ####### me off!Dont worry I wont let the door hit me on the way out. :)(see the locked thread on SDK petition)Nice work!Paul Leatzaw

Hi again! Bad Weather Heather here.I promise this is my last post in here for today and will cease and desist until something else comes to mind.Of the many things I might be, a computer guru is not one of them.In more than one game or sim, I have often tried to adjust the settings for my joystick but this is often a "hit and miss/trail and eror" application for me in as much as I don't understand the applications.I use a Logitech Wingman Extreme digital joystick.Could somebody please explain to me, in layman's terms, the applications/results of the extremes of "sensitivity" and "null" settings? The sensitivity i will grant is somewhat self-explanatory but WHAT are "null" …

Following up my earlier post to free up some frustration over the quality of the recent SDK's from Microsoft and their lack of other support, I decided that a petition signed by many users may 'rattle the chair' at Microsoft a bit and maybe can start some sort of dialog... (here's some hoping).Firstly, it would be good if someone from the avsim staff could comment if we can actually do such a petition here at avsim, or if there would be problems with it... (I haven't put the name avsim into the petition, but wouldn't have a problem with it).Secondly, even if you're not interested in scenery or aircraft design, but just want to fly, we designers still need your support! We…

Flying around San Diego today I noticed a carrier off the coast for the first time. Wow I thought, I've got to try landing on one of those! Flew back to Lindbergh field and jumped into the only Navy plane I could find (the Corsair). As you can see below, I found the carrier, and actually hit the deck in the sweet spot. But wait, what's this...there were no arrestor cables (or tailhook as you can see), and off the bow I went. Then decided to search the forum and found out about Rich Hogen's ArrestorCable. Can those that use it tell me how you like this utility, and where I can find more props to test my carrier landing skills?BTW - I know there is a screenshot forum, but s…
