Hi!I log a lot of hours with the virtual airline, DC Airways, flying the DC-3.I am almost obsessional about realism, opting for such settings in virtually everything I do on the computer, not just FS2002.With this flight sim, I always download real worls weather and one other feature I would like to employ, even though "events" don't occur too often, is the "System Failure" feature built into FS2002. However, i would like to do so in a realistic fashion. In the interests of reality, how could one implement this feature into our flights? With good maintenance practices, I know this doesn't happen all that often but nonetheless, things do happen. I would, for the additional …

I know that in ATL, airtran uses the reverse thrusters to push back out of their gates, and I wanted to know if there was a way to change the power of your reversers, or is there way so that you can move backwards with full reverse thrusters like in the real world??Thanks - Zack

Hi again! "Bad Weather" Heather here.As mentioned in a previous post, I spend a great deal of time flying the DC Airways, N1776, DC-3.I am utilizing the aircraft that members of their virtual airline download for the checkflights but I have switched panels back to the old R4D dual panel. Now, when i go to change VOR/ILS frequencies on the overhead panel, I get the audible click but no change in the numbers. i have to go into FSNavigator to make these changes.By moving various files around, I have obviously created a SNAFU for it worked before.Where would I go and/or what configuration files would I look into and what would I change to correct this?Any help would be greatly…

When I installed FS2002 about two weeks ago, I remember I did a "complete" installation, meaning *all* files were installed on the hard drive.Today, while on east-bound approach to KEWR (about 60 nm west of KEWR), a couple of scenery load errors poped up. After clicking the OK button everything went well and I was able to land OK.Does anybody get those errors? What do I need to do to get rid of them?

    1) Are there any freeware flight planners available that can be used outside of FS2002?2) Are there any freeware panel editors (other than cfgedit; that thing completely takes up my sys. resources every time I add a gauge) out there?3) Last question, regarding Geofa's Deb. Does the panel require any pro gauges (IFR, King Air, Baron, Mooney, etc.)? I have std edition and a 56K, so I don't want to waste 2 hours to find that I can't completely see the gauges. Thanks for any help. :)

Hello,I have been trying some of the wonderful freeware scenery available for download, but cannot get it to work!1. Flight Plans - cannot select the scenery. always goes to default2. Free flight. If I add 2 scenery files I cannot fly from 1 to the other. Starts okay but always default scenery at other.Hope that makes sense!! I have had no problems with installation (or ever in FS2000)and all seems fine in the scenery.cfg.Any one encoutered this??Thanks

Hi Folks,Well, I fulfilled one of my dreams today. I got to take a flight in a WWII plane. My Host was Tom Buck, a local pilot who owns a TBM-Avenger and a SNJ-6 Trainer.I have hosted these on my own website. I took a total of 123 pictures. Don't know if I will upload them all or not. Each was 1280 x 960 in size and has been reduced to 800 x 600 for easy viewing. I wanted to keep them all together, so I apologize for posting 13 of them. We just don't get enough real world pics.Todays flight was in a 1945 North American SNJ-6. Which means it is 57 years old. It has a 600 Horsepower AN 1340 Wasp Engine. That is a lot of ponies. The color scheme is WWII United States Marine …

I'm almost positive someone must have said this before but here goes. Microsoft is using mip-mapped textures on their terrain. When Project OpenSky released the 767's, many users were reporting blurries similar to what the ground was doing. The solution to the planes was extracting the highest resolution mipmap and saving it as a 16-bit(444) or 32-bit texture. This idea may work, unfortunatly this would be a large undertaking with over 1,500 textures to convert. If it worked though, this would stop all blurries and the terrain would look much crisper like FS2000. Any thoughts on this are appreciated.

[/

[link:timsfsstudio.…

Something I recently discovered.... Has anyone else seen this?Flying an IFR flight out of an uncontrolled airport, I forgot to contact center after leaving the airport. When I finally did, they told me I had exceeded my clearance void time and cancelled my IFR. But, after that, the only option I had in the ATC window was to contact center, which again told me I had exceeded my void time and IFR cancelled, being stuck in an endless loop. So, make sure you contact the center within your clearance void time. :-)

From Aviation Week, May 27, 2002The Captain of Japan Airlines MD-11 that experienced severe air turbulence leading to the death of a flight attendant has been indicted on a charge of "professional negligence resulting in death".Capt. The incident occurred ... while his flight was on a too-fast approach to Nagoya on a flight from Hong Kong (1997).... he was flying the aircraft on autopilot as it descended at 4,500 ft/min at 350 kt.. the aircraft airspeed increased to 368 kt. exceeding VMO. I decided to clean the harddrive and start over.1. Reformat C2. installed mobo latest drivers/bios3. installed dx 8.14. installed vid/sound/modem drivers5. installed fs2002It froze some...I then started fs2002 without hardware acc, and it worked well, then I started fs2002 with only a minor amt of scenery...ok, then full up sliders, and it was ok!Then,...I installed McAffee virus. Now the ground looked like the sky. Nothing I could do…

Does anyone know how to reach Dennis Thompson, developer of the time-zone-correcting file "tz19h.zip"? I believe he has changed his e-mail address. I'm wondering if he's planning an update to his time zone file because...As he mentioned in the tz19h release, there are still some areas in the South Pacific that tz19h does not seem to correct. On flights between LA and Sydney, for example, when crossing E180 at about 20 deg south latitude, the calendar and elapsed time go mad, and most annoyingly, ATC shuts down and the ATC window will not even open.I've tried saving the flight and re-starting the sim, but nothing will correct the problem until the plane is on the ground…

the subject might be confusing, i want to get every airport in FS2002 for the state of Washington. i remember i think it was fs2000 that had a separate text file of all airports. the only way i can think of doing this in fs2002 is to go in the sim and then use the goto airport menu function, but man that is slow and tedious and then i have to write them down!! - no go!there must be some way to get a listing of these airports?? anyone?any help would be greatly appreciated!thanksciao!Brian S

Well actually more than one question. I'm thinking of upgrading my Asus A7M266 MoBo based system and would like to find out some of the benefits. At present I'm running an AMD 1.4 266 CPU, 512Meg Micron PC2100 Ram.I am thinking of going to AMD XP2100 CPU and Corsair PC3200 Ram. I know that the processor will give me a speed boost, but how about the Memory? Will PC3200 DDR give me a noticeable boost? Can the PC2100 DDR RAM be mixed with PC3200 Ram, what effects will it have? should I stay with the PC2100 RAM?Or should I just wait 'till the next generation CPU comes out and upgrade then?Any thoughts/suggestions welcome.http://members.cox.net/pstepanoff/images/OK_c2.gifPete…

Has anyone experienced an ATC lock-up when flying long flights? From time to time, when I try to open the ATC window, it will flash briefly, then disappear completely, and there is no way to open it until the conclusion of the flight. It has usually happened after long periods of ATC inactivity - on long flights I don't contact every CENTER; I merely tune them in and wait until late in the flight to begin contacting them again. Most of the time it works fine. Also wonder if it has to do with crossing the intl dateline. Possible correlation there, too.Any ideas? Thanks for any input.

Okay, I must have missed something.I just downloaded Taburet's sfcru.zip software that was listed as SHAREware. When I tried to install it, I needed to enter a registration number, which I couldn't get unless I paid the shareware fee.Did I miss something?Shareware implies to me that the software is "shared" (duh) and if you like it, you pay the fee to register it. At that point, you either feel good about paying for the author's efforts or, in some cases, you receive some additional benefit (or both). But the overall concept, as I understand it, is that you try it and if you like it, you buy it.With this download, it appears that I must pay before I can even see if I wa…
