Hi,I'm having 2 video problems I'd like your thoughts on.1. I get these strange red triangles appearing in various views. Anyone know what is causing this?2. Also the tarmac seems to disappear when I'm taxiing at many airports. Do I need a new video card? I'm running on a 900 athlon with a GeForce 2 MX video card.Thanks.D

Hi friends, jumping here directly from screenshots forum (see http://ftp.avsim.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboa...7&viewmode=all) for asking:what does this mean? What you see is Madeira island in the Atlantic with default scenery and textures; as you can notice water is climbing over the cliffs. Is there a way to get a decent effect over there? I also tried installing both R.Taburet FS2k mesh and his new GAIA mesh but nothing changed. Can anyone suggest a solution? Thanks in advanceLuigi ;-) http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3cfcc18929f56eaa.jpg

This post is in reference to an earlier one where we were trying to determine how to turn off the annoying cockpit lamp while flying at night in Jan Vissers DC-3 with the dual R4D panel. See:[http://ftp.avsim.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=read_count&om=4946&forum=DCForumID8]After numerous attempts to turn off that cockpit lamp, even threatening to take a virtual hammer to it, Rob Cappers, of DC-2 Uiver fame, came to the rescue. Here are the before and after shots:This is how the night panel looks as it comes with the original FS2000 R4D configuration.http://imagehost.auctionwatch.com/preview/...2/01Default.JPGThis is how it looks when you turn off the battery…

Just thought I'd pass this on for those who weren't aware of it.Most of you are probably already aware of this but for those who aren't, and don't care for their mini-panel at the bottom of the screen, it's an easy fix to move it to the top where I prefer mine.I am currently using the mini-panel redesigned to use the DC-3 gauges but this will also work for any other.Go into FS2002/Aircraft/Default/Panel and, using Notepad, open "panel.cfg."As there may be more than one entry, go to wherever you see:position=7and change 7 to 1This will move your mini-panel to the top of the screen. You can now get a clear view of the runway and still have your gauges in view at the same ti…

Sorry but I have to say this; the Flightsoft company is the the most pathetic software company I've ever seen. I just checked there website recently for any updates and it's been approx 6-7 months since I last checked and nothing has changed. They're still saying that the DC-10 Hawaii upgrade patch for FS2002 is coming SOON!!!! by the time you get it out FS2004 will be out, but more importantly the Fly Hawaii DC-10 software is crap anyway so who the hell is going to want it. I'm one of the unfortunate idiots who purchased the stupid program. It's scary when freeware companies come out with better more frequent material.P.S. Good job to all those other awesome FS softwar…

Anyone see the palace fly-by of the Royal Air Force Red Arrows in formation on the wings of the Concorde? That was amazingly cool!! First time I've seen a passenger liner that can fly faster than the military jets!Last time something like this happened was Exeter Airport's 60th Anniversary.I've made animations of exactly this sort of thing, but never thought I'd actually see it!You Brits sure know how to party. Looks like a happy gathering. Great music, too! http://i.cnn.net/cnn/2002/WORLD/europe/06/04/uk.jubilee/story.concorde.jpgCNN imagehttp://www.bbc.co.uk/norfolk/news/2002/05/...hearsal_300.jpgPracticing over Norfolk (BBC)http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/images/3805…

So I go on vacation for a week and return to a thread that discusses John's departure?????What's happened here? John has helped me immensly. He responds to e-mails requesting advice and direction on software, regardless of who developed it.Now I'll thank Lee Swordy for his TTools, but it's John who helped me make it all work. And he offered timely and accurate help with Add a Gate.So there's something about false accusations and software piracy going 'round? And John decided to pick-up and leave? This isn't right!! A talented guy like John leaving is a disgrace to what I, a relative newcomer to this arena, has come to expect from the flight sim community. This is a place…

Hi,I have been flying the DF Archer for a couple of weeks now, and it appears it needs severe rudder trim to keep it straight, both during take off and in flight. I know torque and stuff is simulated and I have calibrated my yoke, but still it needs much more rudder trim than any other aircrafts (i.e. FSD 115TC/Cheyenne/etc)Is this normal? Does anyone else also experiences this or is it my setup/system?Egbert

What sort of qualities would you say a serious and dedicated flight simulation enthusiast needs? For starters, I would say attention to flying as near as possible to real world requirements.David

I haven't been around here much since last year, and I thought I'd let you guys know why. Some of you may remember me asking a little about C-150s as I was dreaming of getting a plane. My dad and I began serious searching about a year ago, at the time for a C-150, and we looked at 2. Then we got side-tracked by some 140s, and here is the one we eventually bought (about a month ago).N89864 is a 1946 Cessna 140 with metalized wings. It has an MX-300 navcom and an AT50 Mode C transponder. Best of all, it has a true O-200 (100 hp) engine. It replaced the original Continental-85 (85 hp), and makes it climb more like a 172 than a 150, which will be good for all the summer fly…

Dear all Flightsimmers,On monday, June 3rd. 2002, EuroFlight's hompage was closed due to several arguments and otherreasons between us and Avsim. At the same day, We recived the bad news about Avsim closing our homepage at 21:00 GMT.Of course, immidietly we transfered our site to a temporary host untill we will get a domain.A day later, All top Euroflight members meat in a conversation to discuss about All EuroFlight'sproblems and issues. After a really hard confrontaion between all top EuroFlight members we'vedecided to Split EuroFlight forever. The reasons that we've chosed to do so are that first, EuroFlight's unsucess as an orginized group but mainlybecause our low qual…

Hello Simmers!I am posting this information for any of you who may be having performance problems related to you SoundBlaster Live! Card.I few days ago, I posted an inquiry about performance issues with flight simulator and the SoundBlaster 5.1 X-Gamer Live! series of sound cards. I was getting a lot of stuttering and horrible frame rates in FS after a clean install of Windows XP pro.I'm happy to report that I have cleared up my problem, and I am now getting very good FPS and smoothness in FS2K2.After spending many hours reviewing posts from this forum, and many others, I have determined that the problem was directly tied to the UPDATED drivers for the SoundBlaster Live! …

I have installed Radar Contact 2.2 and posted there as well. But my problem seems to be within the sim. Specifically, RC instructs you to edit fs2002 config with the line wav_cache=0, changing that from wav_cache=1. After saving the file and exiting notepad, I start FS. I know RC is working ok, because I can see the "adventures" it imported. When I choose one to fly, I get a scenery read error, which is precisely why RC tells you to edit the config file. Here's the catch: when I return to that config file, after a hard reboot, the edited line has mysteriously changed itself back to wav_cache=1. How can I resolve this? Thanks for any suggestions, as I've been hard rebooting…

Hi, I can't get the rear doors to open on the Caribou by Mike Stone even when I change the key settings for the Concord nose. Any idea, it seems that they only move the flaps. Thanks,Bill

Dear All,I have had a year's experience with installing add-on panels and gauges from all you designers. My thanks go out to you all for your time and patience in making the panels and also my simming experience so much more varied and enjoyable.Recently though several panels that I have installed have had missing gauges (these panels do not rely upon you already having Shareware gauges). When I am copying and pasting the gauges to the Main FS2002 gauges folder am I to overwrite all, or, do I select 'No' to each overwrite? Some authors say 'Overwrite all' and others don't - some do not say either way. If I overwrite or not (due to an author not stating), could this be the…

As I approach a runway from a distance the lights to the left of the runway appear red and then suddenly (as I get to a certain distance closer) they shift to white. Does this mean anything? Is this real world behavior and am I doing something illegal (that would get my PPL pulled)?("Hey, you idiot, what the @#$@% are you doing trying to land on this runway when the lights are red!")

How come using sky world I have no cockpit showing up? It's ok when I use the virtual cockpit, but the normal 2D one is missing when I use skyworld flights in FS2002.

G'day gentlemen!I fly Jan Visser's DC-3 with the R4D dual panel for a virtual airline, therefore, involving a fair number of night flights.Do you enjoy driving down the highway at night with the dome light left on? Didn't think so, neither do I.How do you turn off the cockpit light yet leave the instrument panel lamps lit? Turning off the "Battery" and "Generator" switches on the overhead will achieve the desired effect but it also turns off too many other things too!!On a night flight, it's MUCH more pleasing to the eyes.PLEASE tell me that there's an easy fix for this. Like a minor change in a cfg file or something. I could do without that bright cockpit lamp altogether…
