I will be doing a system upgrade requiring me to reformat my HDD. I want to back everything up on CD's but want to know what programs make registry entries.I know that FS2K2 makes those entries but, I have a number of addons as well including Simflyers (N. America), Airport 2000 v.3, PSS (Airbus, 777, 747), Dreamfleet and PIC 767. DO these make regestry entries. Ideally I would like to back up my aircraft, scenery, and guage files. Can anyone who has backed up to CD give me some pointers so that I will have a non-frustrating install. Thanks!Richard

I just downloaded the Piaggio P-180 and ATC recognizes it as experimental. Is there a .cfg to update with the aircraft name? Thanks for any help in advance.

After some tweaking of the stereo settings I *think* I am almost 'there' with the effect but have a problem with add-on scenery & airports which I hope others can confirm or deny.If I look at scenery in FS2k2 with 3D enabled but without the glasses I can see the two red/blue images that make up the stereo pair. However if I go to any add-on scenery the red/blue images are lost, just a plain 2D image as if there is no depth information in the scene.I first noticed this with Gary Summons' Manchester airport and then went to other add-on airports and scenery I have to make sure Manchester was not a 'one off', sure enough all add-on scenery I have checked is a plain 2D im…

Today, while sitting around at work, I read Peter Garrison's article in the July edition of Flying magazine. He stated that following the treaty that ended WWII (forgive me, I can't spell it, and I don't have the magazine handy right now), Germany was prohibited from building any powered aircraft, leaving only gliders as an option. He didn't elaborate on this any more, as the article was more about some scientist (who's name I also can't spell) that came from across the pond. That little sentence got me thinking. Is soaring more popular in Europe than in the US (seems to me it is). And if so, could this (the treaty and ban) be the reason why?Just something to stir up…

Here's a question...in the older "gauged" panels, the A/S indicator had a barberpole that adjusted with altitude to visually indicate how close to Vmax you were getting. In the new panels, the rolling "tape" a/s indicator has no such feature (nor does the backup gauge). So, how do I know how far above Vo I can go before the bell starts ringing? Finally got a 40GB WD ATA100 drive, burning everything down later today for a fresh system install...wish me luck.Cheers,DaveKCOS

Now with the PSS-744 patch out, I've taken the queen of the skies back into the air. This will be the first time to fly it in FS2002. Now my question is when flying IFR using high altitude airways with ATC, how do you fly your own course? When I fly off of an FMC, the ATC constantly tells me to change my course or descend before the FMC says to. When I don't comply to ATC, they cancel my IFR flight. How can I fly with ATC and use my FMC?

[/

[link:timsfsstudio.home.attbi.com]Click here to visit Tim's FS Studio!] Updated June 11th!
[/TABLE

......... in the Library for FS2002. Is it really worth it to install them? How do they impact on the sim's performance. (I am presuming these mesh files are similar to the TerraScene files that Fly!2 uses -- smaller but the same idea, right?) Since I plan to do the majority of my flying in the States, I imagine any of the mesh files that I DO install will be for this area. I was specifically interested in the Alaska files and those for Hawaii. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks. -Lindy :-spacecraft

a simulation as complex as FS2002, when I was an Air Traffic Controller Instructor, Keesler AFB, MS, RAPCON and Tower, 1988 - 1992, in the year of our Lord.We spent MILLIONS, MILLIONS in search of uber simulations for training. Tower and RADAR. What we had for a tower simulation, was nothing compared to 15 minutes in the pattern at Meigs, with 90% ATC. Work the pattern for 10, then land, go to the ramp, go to eye candy view, and watch and listen. {edit:} Take what those who have no real life experience with a grain of salt. In my opinion, as an Air Traffic Controller, and a Pilot, I challenge anyone else with similar credentials to contradict me when I say the "real…

I've searched for what must be a common problem, but am at my wit's end.I just upgraded my computer to a AMD 1400 Thunderbird chip, 256K RAM and Ge3Force Ti-64 video card. I installed FS2002 Pro first after booting it up.I've struggled with lockups...in weather, with a Mooney and when moving the IFR panel. I've searched and tried many solutions on many different websites. I know lot's of people have struggled with and solved these issues. I tried the 22.49 drivers and went back to the 21.83 drivers. I have no hair left! It came out in clumps.Another unrelated issue...when I start taxiing, the planes veer off to the left dramatically. At first, I could restart the flight a…

Hi Anniette, last night I downloaded Massimo Taccoli's FS2K2 Piaggio Avanti, which is a he11 of a nice plane - try it, I'm sure you'll agree! :DHowever, nice as the default liveries might be, what I'm missing is some sort of "neutral" livery not affiliated with any corporation or government agency - currently there are two military VIP schemes, one of a virtual airline, and the last of Ferrari's corporate-owned Avanti. What I have in mind would be a neutral livery - white base paint with blue/silver or yellow/silver lining along the fuselage sides and extending up to the tailfin - in the style of the FFG Lear 35s. If possible, the registration code should be German (D-.... …

Hi folks.Curious about the ATIS/AWOS reports available within Flight Simulator 2002 and how it compares with actual set weather.I use FSMeteo to get real weather. It works fine. The weather settings in the sim are what FSMeteo says they should be. I usually double-check the winds with the handy display in FSNav (lower left corner). Recently (now that I have sectional charts) I've been tuning in ATIS/AWOS stations of nearby airports to get the conditions in a more realistic way, but what is reported is frequently not what the weather conditions actually are.Are the ATIS/AWOS reports just generally inaccurate, or do they just not get updated when FSMeteo updates the wea…

I find that with Detail & Reflection set to the Water texture setting, the horizon ends up as an unrealistic line when visibility is set to say 10-20 miles. The graded visibility does not seem to work correctly when using this setting.Has anyone else noticed this?Is it a general problem and is there some way of correcting (e.g. use of graphic settings etc.). I like the water effects with Reflection on but this unrealistic horizon in lower visibility is annoying. My graphics card is a GForce2MX 400, latest NVidia drivers etc. Currently using 32 bit desktop setting due to color problems at 16 bit, but either way the above problem is the same.:-zhelp Stuart Hyett
