Hi All,I spent the better part of an hour searching through the archives here so now it's time to ask the regulars!! :-)I've started playing around with TTools and yRoute and am asking those of you with more experience which aircraft you use as AI? I read somewhere that any GMAX aircraft is great as it won't deteriate your frame rates but there are a few non-GMAX aircraft I would like to use and am wondering on the performance hit I may take.Any and all help is much appreciated!!Thanks in advance.Mike

I'm having lockup problems, in fact, just as bad as I did with my old PII system (AMD Thunderbird 1400, GeForce3 Ti, 256K RAM).Poking around in DxDiag, I found a screen showing that of the 256K RAM, 348KB was available; sometimes there seems to be 70 MB available.Obviously a problem, but what can I use to see what is hogging which resource. Thanks in advance.Rob [email protected]

Good afternoon all,I came accross these pictures of a virtual crosswind landing, and it got me thinking. If I were a passenger on this jet in real-life, I would have been scared to death :-boom. I have traveled in some pretty severe weather, and while it's hard to judge when your a passenger, I don't think I have ever been in a plane that has landed in any conformation other than parallel with the runway. So, how do real pilots (or you virtual experts) make those picture perfect landings in a crosswind? Is it controlled by selective thrust from the engines, or do you just "kick out the crab" right before touchdown? And while on the topic, if I have a jet with three powerp…

Hello all! It's time I started giving back to the hobby that has brought me so much enjoyment over the past five years! I am very interested in creating scenery for FS2002. I have never tried this before but have the motivation, time and patience to learn. First I have three questions:1. What programs are good to use to create scenery?2. How do I create (or obtain) individual objects to place in my scenery, for example a cell phone tower?3. What additional program (if any) is needed to get those objects into place? Thanks in advance!Regards,John

This is probably another impossible request, but does anyone know of a utility that lets you increase the "roundness" of the engines/fuselage? If not a utility, then is there any way?

Is it just me or is anyone else having trouble getting into the FSFlightMax Discussion Forums? Only rarely will it display and then it could take as long as 10 minutes on a DSL connection to load.Any ideas?

Does anyone think that the next version of FS will have a co-pilot who can respond to ATC so that you can walk away from your computer and take a rest break (or get a ham sandwich) without your IFR flight plan being terminated? Proflight 2000 did have this feature.Bob

System is Athlon 1.4Asus A7M266 mobo256M pc2100 ramGeForce2 GTS/64MSB Live Soundw98SE1280x960x16 resolutionA 3rd party program caused FS2k2 to start crashing. I reinstalled. Up until that time i ran FS2k2 with almost all the sliders at max, 20fps locked. The only hardware setting unchecked - Transform & Lighting. Max distance 60M - it was almost perfect. Occasionally in really dense areas I'd get a small blurry that would clearup very quickly.I've attached a file showing what I see from 2000 feet. Even if I pause, it doesn't clear up. I've tried reloading/changing drivers. I was running 1241 and changed to 2942 - no difference. Reinstalled FS2k2 again - tried all the …

Hi Everyone,I know some of you out there have been using a GeForce4...I just have installed an MSI GF4 4200 with the 29.42 drivers. Big problem in my eyes, is regarding Anti-Aliasing. Enabling it in any mode, whether through the driver utility or FS2002 itself brings about a colored, sort of checkered layer over the 2D panel (transparent). Spot view is fine, 3D panel is OK, it only affects the 2D panels/gauges....I know that is rather a nebulous description of the bug....but anyway, I have tried another batch of drivers with same result. (OK, just uploaded an image...hope it helps)So the million dollar question becomes, what drivers are people having success with? Oh yes,…

I downloaded an fs2002 panel that has bitmaps for the non-front (right, right-forward, right-rear, etc...) cockpit views. I installed the panel.cfg and bitmaps in the default 737 panel directory but when I look in a non-front direction I see the new cockpit superimposed on the old virtual cockpit. Is there a way to remove the virtual cockpit from the default 737?

Hi,I want to improve my frame rates /visuals in FS2002, and am in the market for a graphics card.My budget will allow me a GeForce 4 MX 440 at best;Does anybody have this card under FS2002 and are you happy with it?With my current configuration I am finding that the quality of the scenery especially at airports is not as advertised. I've tried tweakign the system - but even with framerate targets low and all sliders maxed out I don't get good results. My current config is:PIII750GeForce 256256 MB RAMWindows 2000.Thanks,PP.

I've noticed a few uploads that affect the files I uploaded to that "other" sim site. To save you all the trouble of going there, I've uploaded my scenery files for Sacramento, CA (KSMF2K2.zip), Austin-Bergstrom Intl Airport (ABIA2K2.zip) and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport (KCVG2K2.zip). Also uploaded small patches to stop the bouncing aircraft at KCVG. These aren't new files and have been around for a year or so. Since only God's perfect, there are sure to be some small "inadvertent oversights" or errors in them. E-mail me if you find any. I only do sceneries to keep my mind active in my old age so you young'uns be kind to an old man with your welcome critici…

I think I FINALLY have everything installed that I need to start learning FS2002. Got my joystick calibrated, buttons assigned, axes set up (between my two controllers, a USB stick and analog pedals). I sat in the Cessna idling at Meigs but decided I wanted to start somewhere else instead. I thought I'd go to one of my favorite locations -- the Grand Canyon. Pretty soon my plane was idling on runway 3 at the Canyon. I pushed in the throttle... the Cessna lumbered down the runway (it was HOT in AZ lol) and then slowly lifted off.Given my unfamiliarity with the program, I was still impressed. The sim was smooth; the Cessna "felt" and sounded 'heavy' like a plane is sup…

I have had FS2002 Pro since it came out. I have had very few lockups. Yesterday I was flying DFW-SEA in the old Paul Golding DC9 & panel. I just started my descent when the hard drive went nuts & I got the old FS can't continue error. Today I tried the same flight, same plane, same route. I did not use FSmeteo or any real weather, everything else was the same. At almost the same place, right after I started my descent, I hit the GPS button & POW!! FS exited without even a error message or the hard drive going crazy. I am running a P3/800 w/ 256K ram, TNT2 32 meg video with the Nvidia 29.42 drivers. Any ideas? This seems to be a very selective problem.…
