Hi,Some between you must remember the dramatic farewell to freeware and the reasons for it of Mr. Lennard sometime ago? Mr. Lennard was the creator of the famous rock and tundra textures for FS2000 and FS2002. Well, I can be wrong, but aren't these the textures now used in FS2004? It looks all so familiar, same styling, same color use; in any case it is a hell of improvement against the standard brown dot pattern of FS2002. Maybe I am wrong but in any case MS must have had an appreciation for them too, if they (nearly) copied or used them in fs2004!hm

    1. Does anybody know how to adjust the forces of FF2? I find the forces on FF2 a bit whimpy. (I use WinME)2. How can you change the shimmying force feedback to the nose gear? Microsoft has programmed it on the main gear and that is not where it belongs. (If you haven't noticed it, try to lift the nose gear of the runway on take-off roll but keep the mains on the ground. Oddly the shimmying persists!?!?!)TIAOnno Bulk

How do you look up or down out cockpit views (other that the front view) in FS2004? In FS2002, you could use Shift+Enter or Shift+Backspace to look up or down in all views.thanks-DSN

I DOWNLOADED YOUR FIX FOR FPS ON THE CLOUDS. NOT ONLY AM I GETTING 25 FPS SMOOTH EVERYWHERE WITH SLIDERS MAXED, BUT YOUR CLOUDS LOOK A THOUSAND TIMES BETTER!!!!!! THEY DO NOT HAVE EDGES, THEY ARE SMOOTH AND PUFFY LIKE REAL CLOUDS ARE! I HAVE ALL SLIDERS MAXED, AA ON, EVERYTHING ON THE CARD MAXED, THE NEW ENVIRONMENT UPGRADE (THERE IS NO NO BAND ON THE HORIZON!!!!!!), NEW OCEAN TEXTURES, THE SKY COLOR UPGRADE AVAILABLE FROM HERE, THIS THING IS AMAZING NOW--smooth 25 fps everywhere!! I FLEW IN REAL WEATHER TO PRESQUE ISLE, MAINE, FROM BOSTON, WHICH WAS MY COMMERCIAL CROSS-COUNTRY IN REAL LIFE. AND WITH YOUR CLOUDS AND THE UPGRADED SKY, OCEAN, ETC., MT. KATAHDIN , THE HIGHE…

This has likely been answered, but I cannot find it..With real weather, I sometimes have "nervous" clouds that dynamicallypeel away and come back... usually smaller clouds around bigger clouds..I'm using Chris W's recommended cloud settings.. is there a recommended cure to get them to either depart or stay in place? From my fs9.cfg:MAX_UNLIMITED_VIS=128747CLOUD_DRAW_DISTANCE=43D_CLOUD_PERCENT=100DETAILED_CLOUDS=1CLOUD_COVERAGE_DENSITY=8CloudsImpostorRingRadius=64000.000000

Flew last winter up to KMLT for a cross country from KBED outside Boston for the fun of it. -23 degrees on the surface, lightly packed snow and ice. Turbulent because of the cold front coming from the northwest. Smoother as we went back south. Landed and couldn't let the engine RPM down because the oil temp would fall too quickly. Had to keep 23 hundred rpm and a slip on final. Anyway, here is a comparison.P4 2.81024 DDRAM800 Bus36 gig SATA hardrive80 gig harddriveATI Radeon 9700 ProCH yoke/pedalsElite Multi quadrant19" inch monitor-Soundblaster PCI 512Win XPInstrument rated ASEL -270 hoursAOPALawyerPilots Bar Association"Men without dreams are never free, twas thus thi…

I downloaded your update to FS2k4 in a desperate attempt to get my FPS to look better... And they're still miserable to say the least. I lock at 25, but I can never get over 18. Even though 18FPS is enough for me to run smoothly, the moment a cloud comes into the picture I get kicked back to 3FPS or lower. Now, according to you the clouds do not hit FPS... Yet you released a cloud fix (for the non-existent FPS hit). And even with it my frames are miserable. I've tried every tweak and modification to the CFG, still no luck. What can I do? My spec is a good one, and if I can't get to run FS2k4 smoothly in it, I give up.My system:P4 2.43GHz 1GB RAMGeForce 4 Ti4600 128MB (run…

  10. Hello again,As reported last night, I managed to get FS9 running on my system with some degree of consistency. The following posts will outline what it was I did to help me find my systems "sweet spot" and run in the area of 20FPS which is where I have it locked. I've broken the reading down into 7 parts to make it easier to read and to refer to if only one section appeals to you.DISCLAIMER - This has to be said on the front end before you go on reading.First and foremost, this thread would probably apply more to people who own an ATI video card but, there should be similarities between what I did and what you can do with a non-ATI card.No two systems are the same so what…

I thought I'd come back and post the solution to my earlier problem with low FPS on my rig.First of all, my system.ASUS P4PE w/Intel 3.06 Hyperthreaded CPU.1 GB Corsair MemoryATI Radeon 9700 ProLatest Catalyst drivers from ATI's web site.Windows XP ProFor those that don't recall, I would get seemingly frame locked at 7 FPS. I fiddled with all sorts of settings, downloaded new drivers, etc.Somehow I managed to get it to work correctly, and my FPS went up to 70-100+ at 1024x768.Then the next time I started the game it went back to it's old ways. 6-7 FPS at idle on the runway. I even turned *ALL* game details to min. and it didn't make any difference. After more fiddling an…

  13. I have FSUIPC 3.01 (registered version) and FSMeteo Version 6.01.I have a telephone modemconnection so I usually download FSMeteo weather and then stay off line.As I understand, and as used to happen in FS 2004, as I fly along, the weather should change according to what I downloadedin FSMETEO. However, that does not seem to be happening in FS2004FSMetei, the weather does not seem to change and I think it is because of my settings in FSUIPC or in FS 2004.First , what effect does the "Rate of Change" of weather in FS2004 in the settings page have on the changing weather of FSMETEO?Second, what effect does the "Clear Weather Stop Dynamics" in FSUIPC on the Technal page hav…

I wanted to get a bit adventurous and see if by chance Microsoft added some new places in FS2004. I found out that there are airports in Antarctica now :-lol! Not only new airports, but a new runway type too - ICE :(! Yes.....an ice runway. While ice runways exist in real life in Alaska and other cold places, I just now had the experience of landing on one in FS2004. That was one of the weirdest experiences in FS because I couldn't stop, and the scenery engine has problems with extreme north or south latitudes. Not only does your plane slide on the ice, the ground texture slides under the runway. Verrrry weird :-lol.If your game and want to try landing your plane on a run…

If you've got FS2004 but are planning to keep FS2002 on your hard drive, consider this:I love FS2004 (especially the new scenery textures), but because for now I have a GF2 MX card I've had to give up a few things that I really miss like reflective and chrome textures on my planes, plus I can't see the new water reflections. And the PSS Dash8 is on hold, waiting for a patch. But I made a copy of the FS2004 Scenery/World/Texture folder (187 MB) and moved it to FS20002 SCENEDB/WORLD folder, backing up my original FS2002 SCENEDB/WORLD/texture folder first. Now I've got vastly enhanced scenery running in FS2002 (absolutely stunning with FSGenesis landclass), plus as a bonus I'm…

I am at my end. I have installed Fs9 everything was fine. Then I have decided to increase performance by installing new drivers for my Ati Radeon 9700pro.Now I get before I start Fs9 following Message. *Software 3D Enabled*Your computer cannot currently use 3-D hardware acceleration. Software 3-D mode has been enabled. Some graphical features may not appear in software mode.I have done the following. I have uninstall Fs9 and rolled back my old drivers. Installed Fs9 new. Still the same thing.I have also reinstalled Directx 9.0a from the CD. Everything was working fine till I have installed new driver. Why is this a problem? Because when 3-D software is enabled I cannot cho…

  20. Hi,Is there a way to permanently disable 'Graduated Transitions' in the Views section under 'Spot View'? It is such a pain having to uncheck the box each time the sim is started. Normally this would not be a significant issue for me but currently the screen switching problem while in full screen mode with the ATI cards makes this task really tedious. I have installed the fully functioning version of ActiveCamera and the spot view doesn't seem to work correctly when graduated transitions is enabled in that the aircraft passes by as if performing a flyby (without the flyby option being checked) and continues to retreat into the distance. Panning around the a/c then seems im…

I downloaded Bill Lyons' great little Swift. Man...do I love those sounds and the dynamics. One question though...for the talented designers out there. Is there a way to "put a pilot in the seat" of this plane? I've become accustomed to seeing a body in the cockpit, and it feels weird flying a plane and seeing no one in spot view. The spot view of this plane is beautiful, and should be looked at. If I knew how to do it, I would. However, I believe it's beyond my learned abilities in this simulation. Can anyone help....I'm sure many others would be appreciative. Stan
