Hi,Whilst performing a preflight earlier today, I discovered that the center attach bracket for the starbord elevator hinge is smoking. Several rivets, as well as the attach bolt are lose. This being a primary flight control, the hinge must be fixed before further flight. Therefore, the aircraft is grounded, on a RED X condition. Go take a look at the bottom of the stabilizer... I'm something of a novice when it comes to MSFS, but I find that the flight training very often just gets to a certain point then refuses to continue. A classic example is the first set of training, "ascent and descent". I've done this several times now. FIrst time, the instructor booted me for not concentrating, but that was quite a way in. OK, that was my fault. Since then, every subsequent attempt, I just run out of new instructions. I get to a certain point then the instructor just "bails out", and lets me go on forever. I had exactly the same problem with MSFS 2002, which, frankly, is why I didn't stay with that very long either. I'm prepared to accept that it may be…

Since I prefer the english/US-Versions of MS-FS (the german translations are sometimes awfull) I'd like to buy FS2004 from AVSIM, which is also a good opportunity to support.As I live in Austria, my question is, will AVSIM ship FS2004 to Austria and what were the costs for this service? Is there any Cathay Pacific and JALs' aircraft that fits for only FS 2004?

I just flew the new Lear Jet in FS 2004 and I have a couple of questions. First, I could barely see the COM/NAV frequencies, they were green and very very dim. Has anyone else experienced this. I have an ATI 9700 card, but I don't think that is the problemwith the dimness. Is there anyway to increase the brightness. Turning the panel lights on/off had no effect.Second, I couldn't turn the engines off when I landed, I put the throttles to idle cut off and they stayed on, and kept on running.Am I missing something?Any help would be appreciated. Upgraded video card toPNY Verto GeForce FX-5200-AGP-128mb DDR card. Installed driver that came with cd. In 2d cockpit I don't have panel or guages, just black where they should be. D/L latest nvidia driver 4403 & installed, same problem. In FS2002 with GeForce2 pro card 64mb I didn't have this problem, only slower frame rates. I just D/L driver 30.82 but having installed it till I get ideas from others. Any help will be appreciated. Dell pentium 3- 1ghz- 512 meg ram--Windows ME.Thanks Chuck

When using the MAP to move the tower for tower view, I have found most the airports with no tower icon. When there's no icon changing the altitude has no effect. Any ideas ?What makes this horrible, is it seems most the tower views are obscured by buildings and trees. Although I am thrilled for the most part, I don't like this aspect of FS9.Steve

I started FS2004 at my default location. I then went to windowed screen, minimized FS2004 to load up FSMETEO (5.1) and downloaded the weather. I then tried to go back to full screen mode in FS2004 and the window for FS2004 went black. The task manager said both applications were running, but the black window would not go to full screen. So far unable to use FS2004 with FSMETEO weather in full screen mode. I am a registered user of FSUIPC and running WINXP.Thanks for any help!Airbus

Man, I've been looking at the website posted from the Avsim home page (http://members.aol.com/delta7674/dvh.html) I'm very interested in getting it. I'm wondering what the professional quality of it is though, being on an AOL member site and taking payment through PayPal. I've watched the samples and they seem pretty good though (compressed of course for bandwidth concerns). Has anyone tested the Realair C172 to see how it performs in FS9? I've re-installed it in my FS9 directory, and everything seems to work, though I've been having trouble with the engine quitting on idle (not sure if that is sometihng I am dong wrong).I'm wondering also about the flight model ... I know some changes have been made to the modeling in FS9, and I'm wondering how this effects airfile upgrades such as the C172. I'm eager to use this plane, because it actually seems to slip/skid in turns (gives me a reason to use my rudder pedals). For simmers using the Radeon 9000, 9100 & 9200 cards, here is a simple fix, until ATI releases new drivers, to give you a believeable horizon with haze. This only works in the User Defined selection for setting weather parameters. In the visibility box, set your "Tops" altitude setting to 50,000' and your "Base" altitude at 35,000. The key setting is the Base altitude. I choose 35,000' as I seldom go above that. If you exceed the Base setting, the sharp division between land and air returns, with no haze. There is one weather theme that will also give you some haze at the horizon, but only one. That being the Fair Weather theme. Try this. See if it works for you. It d…

I'm trying to use the CH Control Manager software with my yoke, throttle and pedals, having previously just programmed them via the sim (I'd like to try the non-linear sensitivity options available).I have a question that doesn't seem to be addressed anywhere, though maybe I'm just thick- can you just assign only a few buttons via the CH software and then let all the rest be assigned inside FS2004 in the usual way? It seems that when I try to program buttons in the sim while a program map is active, it doesn't recognize any of the buttons on the HID devices when I try to program them. Does everything need to be programmed in the CH manager or am I doing something wrong?Be…

Hello Gang!I just installed FS2004 in my brand new machine and when in main panel view, my screen is split in two; the top portion shows the "out of the windshield" view, and the lower portion of the screen, where the instrument panel should display, is totally black. When I go to virtual cockpit view or any of the other external views everything appears OK. Any ideas? I was on an sim IFR flight (Flight Sim 2004 with flight plan created) from Chicago Midway to Louisville, KY. Flying the Mooney blue and white. Using Real Weather, updated every 15 minutes, flying at 11,000 feet.About 20 minutes outside of Chicago the wx started to deteriorate. A long line of dark storm clouds was forming to my front. I could also see lighting cloud to cloud and cloud to ground. What to do? In real life a no brainer. Give the storm wide berth, no question about it. Here is a problem that can be helped manually.On duats/metar forecasts-when the visibility reported max is usually 10 miles. (Actually my duats today reports better than 6 for my area-active sky (metar) reports better than 10). You will never see 15 miles visibility, 25 miles visibility etc. reported. Why? Because poor visiblity is what interests pilots-if better than 10 not really that important.I have noticed that it seems fs interprets better than 10 as "unlimited" in the visibility section of the weather tab. I don't see how this could be "fixed" as there is no data for fs to retrieve to give a more specific visiblity when it is better than 10.I have also noticed from…

I know it's supposed to be in the My Documents folder but it's not there!I have tried to search for it on all my partitions, making sure that hidden files are shown but it just isn't there :-eek What's the EXACT filename of the file, and in which directory is it located? I do have a "Flight Simulator Files" folder in My Documents but it only contanis flightplans, flights and weather, no cfg files. I have a Swedish localized version of WinXP, so maybe the different names of the directories are causing problems?

I have just installed a Radeon 3D card in this machine. It is a Dell Optiplex G1100 with integrated display card. After numerious reboots I finally managed to install the new Radeon. The problem is the machine boots up, Windows 2000 boots up, and then the screen goes blank. If I remove the monitor connector and put it back into the onboard display socket, I can see something on the screen again! It seems that although I have set the settings in the BIOS on video adapter to auto, it somehow turns back to the onboard adapter after booting up. How can I totally disable the onboard card? As I said in the BIOS I only have two settings, Auto and On.Thanks
