My frustration level with this driver issue is through the roof. The latest and greatest card from Nvidia and FS version from MS can't work together? That's absurd. And I don't want to experiment with beta drivers that can create other problems of their own. Anybody with a Falcon Mach V 2.4 machine running a video card that shows the 2D panels normally? I'm curious what that card would be.

So far I have had fs2004 for about a week and a half. Let's start with the good news shall we?Pros:Panels so far work with fs2002 work with fs2004 that I have tried. Most planes work well to.Scenery is awesome in many parts of the US.Sky color very cool! especially at dusk and dawn.3d clouds with anvil shape CBs.Lightning lights up the clouds, better lightning bolts. The ability to set a cloud layer at a distance and still be able to see it from a distance away without abrubtly coming into it.Also more detailed airports around the world.Cons:Water is to bright in many areas. It looks like the Carribean in most places in the world. I would like to to see a fix in this iss…

I've noticed several differences in 2002 aircraft installed into fs9.One being the difference in the air files and aircraft config files. I also found the gps does not always work with out a modification to the panel.cfg, such as changing the following:[Window02]Background_color=0,0,0 size_mm=512window_size_ratio=1.00 position=0visible=0ident=gps_panelwindow_size= 0.290, 0.510window_pos= 0.710, 0.490gauge00=gps!gps, -2,-2,514,513to:[Window02]size_mm=456,378window_size=0.5position=8BACKGROUND_COLOR=0,0,0VISIBLE=0ident=GPS_PANELgauge00=fs9gps!gps_500, 0,0Has any on else noticed other changes required to convert an fs2002 aircraft to one campatable with fs9?Ph…

I have a new Dell 8500 and would like to load FS2004 on it so that I can use the sim while on the road. The 8500 notebook has a 2.4 ghz processor and a Geforce 4 viceo card in it so it should do decently running the sim. My question is, "Does anyone know if there is a small joystick that could be used in a mobile situation such as this?" Thanks in advance for any info.

For anyone with an Nvidia FX card, the 45.23 drivers are working on my system quite well. All panels can be seen in full-screen mode. Just one advisement, when you plan a flight, you need to be in windowed mode. Another topic. I flew the Learjet into LAX on an IFR flight from Billings, MT. LAX is incredible in FS9...much more realistic than FS2000. On the glideslope to RWY 24R, it looked like the real thing. No kidding.Bob K

Can someone clarify for me: What is the dramatic difference between 7/8ths overcast and 8/8ths that produces such a dramatic FPS hit in FS2k4? My P4 2.26 533FSB geforce ti4200 64mb can easily draw 100% clouds at 80miles at 21 FPS (locked) at anything except full overcast, where FPS drops to 10-12, less with a bunch of AI. Are there really that many more polygons being drawn to show complete overcast? Maybe I'm hitting some kind of texture memory bottleneck? Thanks,sg

Some information I'd like to share concerning sluggish menus and the dreadful 30 seconds pause after world/go to airport:This was caused by my logitech IFeel mouse (forcefeedback mouse). Don't know if there are many out there, but the background task "immersion desktop" installed with these mice triggers it. A telltale sign is massive stuttering when the mouse is moved. Also for Asus board owners:Disable Asus probe before using FS2004, it causes major stutters.B.T.W. Is there a knowledge base where we can report the effect of background tasks/software on fs2004? Might be good to have one.

Guys, I've tried everything with fs9. Reformat, tweaks, new drivers, reinstall, dxdiag agp tweaks, lower settings. My question. Do you think my system may be underpowered. Most of my stuttering is in banked turns when new scenery is drawing!. I have autogen on sparse and most setting fairly low!!. I remember cfs2 did this for me and when I upgraded my cpu and video card the stuttering went away. Just wondering. It was real simple to connect with a friend.I sat there as he was flying-changed the weather in a couple minutes from clear-to thunderstorms, to snow, and then 2 miles in fog.I also failed his airspeed, then attitude indicator-all the time getting the display below. What a cool and useful tool-give it a try! :-)http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/Geofdog2.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/29844.jpg

I'm pretty sure all those virtual pilots here in Australia can sympathise with me!The first time I heard of the release of FS2004 was around the 23rd of July in some European country. Naturally I thought the software would be released here soon. I was to be sorely dissappointed!!I reserved a copy at my local Electronics Boutique and was told it would be available on the 11th. I rock up there today only to discover that it won't be available until the 14th! Apparently that was the "street" release.I'd love to know why there is such a huge difference between the release dates around the world for this product! Is it marketing? I'm beginning to get pretty peeved off! …

When I select RTO for a take-off in the deault 737 the engines usually spool up and hold a decent thrust, but then they suddenly spool all the way down. I'm assuming RTO is engaging. Any ideas on what may be causing this? What are the elements that engage RTO?Boyd Barker, Senior Command CaptainDirector of Special Projects & KBOS Hub ManagerWestWind Airlines

Why is it The big jets in FS2004 have blurry Textures? All the aircraft, and jets on FS2002 had clear textures, but this is not the case with FS2004.Have Microsoft stiffed this up? As everything else looks great, but not the jets? Also the smaller Aircraft seem fine, and are good textures. And yes have the Aircraft setting up High, as there is a Ultrahigh setting but cannot set the Aircraft to this as it always resets back to high.

I've been having some problems lately with this. When I start FS, I get the message..."Your computer cannot currently use 3-D hardware accleration as it has less than the required amount of video memory. Software 3-D mode has been enabled. Some graphical features may not appear in software mode."So I reformatted my PC and all was back to normal - FS ran fine. Then I began installing all the usual programs, and suddenly, the message came back again! I tried reinstalling nVidia drivers, DirectX, to no avail. So I settled for another reformat and tried opening FS after installing each new program - The first time I found that the message appeared after I installed OfficeXP, …

Hi, Thought I'd try this question again. I have ATI Radeon All in Wonder 7500 Video Card. When I fly either of the Cessna's in FS9 there are two grey lines that protrude out from the elevators at the back of the planes. The Readme file that came with FS9 mention this as a problem but they offer no solution. I do have the latest drivers for the video card. Any ideas? Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?Oh... and BTW I can't grab the planes and stop them from spinning, etc. in flight setup. In fact the mouse pointer disappears in the window that shows the plane. This goes for all the planes. Is this normal? Could grab the planes in FS2002.Thanks in advance.Sydneybo…

I just bought FS9, and a FX5600 Asylum card at Best Buy a few hours ago.I have a virtual cockpit, and a pretty smooth flight around the pattern at KMRY (Monterrey Peninsula), with beautiful scenery, lighting, and so forth.I have no 2D panels, however.I have seen a few posts with proposed "fixes" (most are additions to the FS9.cfg, or disabling AA, and so on), but none has solved the problem yet.I'm using the 44.03 driver from NVIDIA.I seem to have objects where the panel would be, as labels are appearing when I point to them (various light switches, mixture control, etc.).Has anyone found [solved] the problem yet?I fthere is no "cure", I'm heading back to Best Buy tomorro…

Has anyone been able to get another runway besides 9L/9R as the active? I have had no luck, plus those are the only two you can ask to change to. It is sad you cannot take your pick of runway.Cheers,Brendan

This is after my first flight in the Bombardier Learjet in FS2004. The listed service ceiling is FL510, but trying to cross FL350, even at full power, I entered an interminable stall which devolved into an unrecoverable spin. I went through regular stall recovery procedures, but in the end knew I was going to plant it.This isn't the first time I've noticed discrepancies between written flight specs and the actual flying characteristics of the aircraft (particularly in cruising speed vs. when the overspeed indicator comes on). If anyone could help me, I'd really appreciate it.Mike

As far as I can tell, things for multiple monitors in FS2004 work even worse than two monitors in FS2002 did. I can't undock windows, nor can I seem to expand my screen across both monitors in full-screen mode. Anybody else figure out exactly what improvements have been offered in this area?
