Hiya, Does anybody have any info, or know where I can get some info, on all the old fashioned navigation sytems on the planes like the DC-3, the Trimotor, the D.H. Comet etc.All the FS2004 help stuff seems to be about the modern panels.I know the principles are the same, but try figuring out what the radio stack of the DC-3 does with no quide.Unless ther is one - in which case anybody know which bit of the help file it's in?

Does anyone know where to find the original aircraft sounds on the FS2004 CD's? I am not impressed with the FM in this sim so far. The defualt aircraft just dont feel as smooth as I would like. There seems to be some problem with the trim also. Most aircraft have a very narrow band where the trim is pretty effective, almost too much so. Add-on aircraft are porked here in this regard. One other issue bugging me is the reflective metal textures. Is it just me or is there something very wrong with this? Seems like the chrome is almost white and much too reflective even with the default stuff. The Baron's props are a good example. So far I am loving the clouds and environment, but that is not making up for the other small problems and the jumpy frame rat…

Hi Folks,I've been using FS9 and really like it. But I do have a problem with artifacts (boxes, walls etc.) which sometimes (not often) are displayed while flying or on the ground. They disapear quickly when i pan in another direction.System specs: Dell PIII, 1 gig 512mb ram Asylum GeForce Ti4200 64mb card 40 gig hd WinMe DirectX 9.0b from MS download site. Nvidia 44.03 driver from Nvidia site. Scandisk and defrag before FS9 installation. No overclocking.Thanks for your help,Howard

Well I improved my flying skills a lot by changing the moveable office chair I was using to a recycled chair from a Dodge Van. I made a wood base for it to get the proper height and distance to my C&H USB Pro Pedals and USB Flight Yoke. This allows me to have a firm and constant postion each time I fly without worrying about the chair moving or turning.This made a huge difference in complex landing situations, and I recommend it highly. I know this forum is bias to fs2004 but my question is, if one had a choice of a PC based flight simulator program, and money was not a concern, what else is out there? I use to be a big FS2002 fan and then stopped flying for 6 months or so do to time constraints. Now I'm looking to get back in but am weiry of buying 2004 because of all the negative comments on this forum. So my question is, what other software is out there. I'm looking for the most realistic flight experience, and by realistic I mean a good combination of flight dynamics and scenery. Are these supposed to be accurate in FS9? Can,t seem to get them to work right. Pointer does not change position as airplane turns and can not tune some nav stations. Thanks.

I've been trying out the Aerodesigns A340-300 downloaded here at avsim.com...wow. What an amazing job, very detailed and very nice panel. And it seems to work well with FS2004 except for one problem.That problem is, when sitting at the 2D panel, my frame rate gets absolutely slaughtered. I don't have a slow system--AMD Athlon XP+ 2500, 512 MB PC2700 RAM, GeForce 4 Ti 4200 4x AGP w/128 MB--and still, I'm getting 10 fps just looking at the 2D panel. My frame rates are actually much higher using the VC, more like 20. And they lock at 30 in external views--although the textures on the A340 are so huge, my machine will freeze doing a disk load for 5-8 seconds trying to dr…

I can open the .cfg folder in notepad but all I get is many many Explorer help icons and 3 java script files: card, cardresources and config. hiya, I am using the Heathrow scenery add on by the people who made the UK VFR scenery and I have noticed that the taxiways are all blured, the grass and taxiway have no visible edge, they just kinda 'merge' into one blur! Does anyone know why this is?thanks

Before putting it in I opened up FS, set all sliders to max, put spot view and saved the flight. taxiway lights? They are way too bright. Despite earlier opponents to the idea, there has to be a line of code somewhere that dictates the color and intensity. Can we not add another line to the fs9.cfg. Like everyone else, I've working hard to tweak Flight Sim 2004 to get the best compromise between quality and performance. I've followed many of the helpful suggestions in this forum. Thanks!!With that said - and I know some of you may think I'm crazy - I seem to enjoy better performance (and great quality) by leaving AA turned ON in FS2004 (versus turning it off and using the ATI control panel to manually tweak things).My system is usually able to maintain 20 FPS with AA turned on in FS2004 and with bilinear filtering. Having finally got broadband, I went looking for FSTV, but I see no activity on the FSTV forum here and no new files for a couple of months.Have they shut down, or is this just a summer break?

I installed R. Probst's latest 727 panel (the one with the really cool XML pop ups with speeds and thrust settings) and a nice 727 in FS9. Everything works except I get no autopilot graphic or controls on the radio panel. Anyone had any luck with this or found a work-around? Thanks!Colin

Hi, I'm a bit puzzled, I flew QF63 Sydney - Johannesburg today in a B744 on FS2002. I had a headwind of about 20-30kts most of the way and was cruising at FL330 and Mach .90. The departure and arrival times on the Qantas website were 10.00 and 16.10 (local times) respectively. That's a flight duration of 14hrs 10mins. Yet my flight today on flight sim, lasted 21hrs 25mins. I arrived 7hrs 15mins behind Qantas' scheduled arrival time. Now, is that partially or mainly because of that headwind I had or is this just a big gap between real-world flying and flight sim? I'm contemplating a partition specifically for 2004, which can be labelled F Drive or whatever. But the many installation headaches aired in this forum make me wonder whether 2004 will in fact install happily into anything other than C. Has anyone tried this? Any snags? Advice would be very welcome.

If we can't modify the gates and number of parking spaces, than isn't paying for an AI add-on going to populate the airport with random planes from all the airlines? Don't they need to update with TTools or AFCAD for 2004 before selling? Hi,I downloaded and installed the excellent Aero Commander (for FS2004).For some reason, the VC lighting blinks constantly, it is difficult to read the instruments since the panel is pitch black most of the time.Any fix ?
