Anybody else having this problem? I installed the Delta and the IranAseman versions, but they are no-show's on the aircraft selection menu. I checked and triple-checked for all the usual mess-ups in the aircraft.cfg file but all looks okay. First time I've ever been this stumped.John

Hi,I felt I should chip in here (and start a new thread) in defense of the downtrodden ATI cards ;)"Some like to run 8xAF with these cards though visually stunning to the whole scene in the FS world, to the performance of the card 8xAF absolutely kills it, even 4xAF practically cuts the fill rate in half."The above was stated on this forum by Paul Leatzaw (PaulL01) in a recent thread headed "FSW: Fps and Fix for Fs2004 Available Now!" He was referring to the GeForce Cards. He also stated:"the Radeon card owners will not see much of a change in performance with AA on as the Radeons do not AA alpha textures at all, something that is great for performance but visually poor as…

Hello,I've got a nice system, P4 3.06, ATI9700 and 1mb of RDRam.I have an opportunity to pick up an extra 1mb of RAM from a friend who's selling his system, and was wondering if it would do anything to improve performance in FS9? I get between 20-30 FPS in my general flying situations (most sliders maxed) but significantly reduced (ie 10-15) in large airports, areas with complex mesh, etc. I personally don't like to fly at less than a consistent 25FPS, it's simply not realistic for my taste, especially on landing approach. So I'm wondering, will I notice any difference by going to 2MB, or is 1MB already more than FS9 can use and the limitation is the processor or video car…

I just bought FS9 the other day and so far I'm pretty pleased with some of the changes I've seen. However, I've noticed the active runways at certain airports aren't necessarily the ones used in the real world. Unless I'm mistaken, the ability to change actives was one of the "new" features in FS9 that Microsoft promised. I haven't found any way through the ATC menu to request the runway I want to use. Anybody out there run into the same thing yet?

Anyone know if the stars.dat file from the Boeing 314 web site work in FS9? I haven't flown at night yet but sitting on the runway checking systems it looks like FS9 has very few defaultstars just like FS2002 did.

Anyone have a cure for this?Tried one of the 'scenery' flights in FS9 last night, the one taking in the Hoover Dam.On about the second or third call to ATC the reply sounded low pitched and slow, as if a tape recorder was running at low speed, engine sound seemed OK.SystemABit KD7 on-board soundXP18001GB RAMGF3 Ti200 64MB graphics cardTIA

I noticed that the trees in FS04 look pretty much all the same. This is OK for most scenery but I couldn't believe that in Orlando or any Florida/tropical area they left out palm trees. I thought I read somewhere that there was a program to add realistic trees according to latitude to FS02. Does anyone know if its true and will it work in FS04? Thanks.;-)

I was playing Multiplayer on the zone last night. It was Airliner flight with about 4 people. We were all at FL32 and I didn't see contrails from anyone else but myself. Also when we were lined up waiting for takeoff, you couldn't see anyone else's lights as well.I thought Microsoft fixed these bugs in the Multiplayer for FS9? This is getting rediculous. It seems that Multiplayer been having the same bugs now for the past few versions and MS doesn't seem to do anything about it.

Am I seeing things but Fs2004 is MUCH WORSE in realism with regards to low sun reflections off of water. It's almost solid white, blinding reflections that do NOT look real. FS2002 was MUCH better here. Or am I messed up somehere? Is this a provlme? Is there a fix?

I got that MSBLAST worm virus this morning and after talking to Microsoft, I was able to get rid of it. I had to re-install TCP/IPand my NIC drivers but everything is working great. EXCEPT FS9.I can't get it to load. When I double click the icon, it starts to laod and then hangs up.I tried a full re-install but the same thing happens. I tried putting in the No-CD crack but the same thing happens. I do not have a firewall up. All my drivers are up to date and I am using the OMEGA 4.4.0.3 drivers for my GeForce Ti-4800 card. Sound drivers are up to date. Everything worked yesterday. Can someone PLEASE help me figure this out.Thank you TurnipAsus P4S533-E MBP-4 2.4 Ghz512 DDR…

I wanted to take a look at the TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT because I have read that it can affect the blurriness of Justflight's VFR scenery.Anyone had success with this? I'm getting some very poor looking ground textures here.Cheers,SIMon.

Hello! After doing some experimenting with the Display.cfg file in FS2004COF, I finally got the aircraft reflections, water wave motion, waves on the beach, and water detail working! I also got a noticable increase in performance with this change.I wanted to let those Nvidia Geforce 4 MX series video card owners know that I am getting aircraft reflections and water motion (waves, beach waves, and textures) in FS2004COF along with a boost in smoothness and FPS using this entry in the Display.cfg file. You can use the same "fix" that was used in FS2002 in FS2004.The only thing that I haven't been able to get to work yet, is the water reflections in FS2004COF. I did copy the t…

Hi All,I've been reading many posts about people trying different ATI drivers and that's fine if you want to experiment BUT you have to make 100% sure that you've un-installed the older/previous drivers COMPLETELY or else all your hard work may be useless. Many times uninstalling dirvers only through the Add/Remove Programs menu will NOT clean everything out. Registry items are not cleaned out and many times, files are copied to other directories and the uinstall routine doesn't pick up on it. I posted a fool-proof method in my "You Can Have Your Cake and Eat it Part II" post and I highly suggest people follow that procedure. Sometimes all it takes is 1 "bad" old file to m…

Mike I used your suggestions just for kicks and was amazed at the increase in FPS without any change in the visuals.I did not use all the settings you suggested, for example I left the water effects on... but used all the cfg tweaks. My FPS doubled such that I now lock FPS at 26My system is an AMD 3Gig with a NVIDIA 4400 Ti 128Mb 1 Gig RamSB Live Platinum THanks much for the tips and the time you spent testing and posting it for all of us.For those who have not seen this post it is now locked at the top of the forum under the topic READ THIS FIRST!Bob S Reno, NV

Once I come to the active runway at heathrow the frame rates drop to 1 fps. If I continue and somehow manage to take off then the frame rates are back again to normal which in my case is 20. This does not happen when i leave the active and taxi. This happens with ATC and AI enabled, have not tested without AI. Same with landing. As soon as I touch down FPS drops to 1 till I leave active. Can anybody else please confirm this?

Hello.I have noticed that with FS2004 the log files (and flight files) are located in a different location than they were with FS2002.However, if moved to another location and aliased from the original location FS2004 can't find the files.Does anyone know if there is a way around this? I really don't want to keep the log and flight files in the default location.Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much!

In the FS2004 Flight sim, all the trees are painted on a black cardboard square, also some clouds are in such a square.Have 850MHZ sys using GEForce II I've downloaded Direct X 9 and also 30.82 from N'vidia to no avail....Any Suggestions? -Yah - get a new computer! :-) Thanks Eddie

I have a question about roll in turns. I fly the Carenado 210 a great deal, and have noticed that once you're in a turn and applying rudder to center the ball, the plane seems to want to keep increasing the angle of its roll. In order to maintain a constant turn rate, you have to counteract with "opposite lock" on the yoke, so to speak. I haven't noticed this tendency, or at least to this degree, with other planes. Is that normal? In other words, if you're in a 20 degree bank turn, should you have to give aileron in the direction opposite to the bank to maintain that angle?Best,Joel

I have to agree Will...Although there's a difference in people who complain, but seek answers, vs. those who complain just for the sake of it. I see no reason to justify those who come in, either with an "I told you so" attitude or with an "It doesn't work, and I shouldn't have to tweak" attitude or with a "why should ATI or Nvidia have to fix it" attitude. If you look at the handles of some of the people "trolling" you'll see some are avid users of the other sims. And/or, they show as having posted here once or twice, and it turns out they've never even flown the sims. Some highly respected people here who know how to tweak systems are having issues with FS2004. Fellow Pilots, I have purchased FS9 today, but after going through the Forum I am having second thoughts about using it.I have not even opened the wrapper yet so taking it back to the store is on the cards, now i know a lot of you good people will say its my choice if I want to use it, but Iam only running a AMD 1.4 on an Asus board and GFTI 4200 and this sim seems to struggle on top end machines. So is it worth it or do I stick with FS2K2? 50GBP is a lot for a program that is a bit, how shall we say not quite there yet. Any comments /advice welcome.Happy flyingRB211

What does this file really do. Out of curiosity I made mine inactive by changing the cfg to bak...rebooted FS2004 and there was no problem or change in anything. In fact, when I checked the folder, I saw no recreated display.cfg file as is the case when fs2004.cfg is deleted. Thanks...Sherm
