I've searched several libraries, and I can only find repaints for the FFX 727. I cannot find the BASE Pack which is necessary before anything. I have the DC 10 Base, and the 737 Base. Please tell me where I can find the 727. Stan

I must have missed something somewhere but I'm fascinated to see that gauges in FS9 appear to work whether they're in the gauges folder or individual panel folder. Was this always the case?Downloaded Milton's update for the 7 the other day and was horrified to find that all the gauges were mixed in with the panel bitmaps. Separated them all out thinking Milton had screwed up (yeah, right, wise guy) and put them in the gauges folder - everything works. Just installed Trev Morson's Christmas tree of a Dak panel, where he SPECIFIES that gauges should stay in the panel folder - everything works. So can they go in either place? Very handy to keep them with the panel, I must…

Hi fellow pilots!I've been researching some information from NASA about how aircraft actually fly, and it turns out that lift generated from pressure differentials between the underside of the wing and the upper wing only accounts for about 2 percent of the lift!! The rest of the lift is actually generated from the reaction caused (Newton's third law of motion dictates that every action is directly opposed by a reaction of equal magnitude) by "pushing" the air downwards. Many experiments have been performed on wings and it has been found that the overall shape of the cross-section of an efficient wing works extremely well at displacing air downwards, hence causing a lift …

  7. While looking throught some of the aircraft.cfg files, I found the following entry:[GeneralEngineData]max_contrail_temperature = -30 //Temperature (deg C) below which contrails may appearI could not find the same entry in the default 747 or 777 included with FS2004/COF/FS9. So I wrote to MS support and received a reply that did not say much:"As I understand, we are Unable to find max_contrail_temperature in aircraft.cfg files for the three default Boeing jets (737, 747, and 777.Bob, max_contrail_temperature entry is found only in Boeing jet 737 and it will not be present in other aircrafts, this is by design. These entries will not effect the display of the contrails.I …

There is a Garmin interactive simulator at www.garmin.com under Aviation then Products. It's in the top right hand section. It's 13590KB in size and downloads real slow even with DSL. You can pracice setting up the GPS on your own time. It is pretty good. There are five plans you can fly in addition to making your own plan. I have not figured it all out yet. Too bad you can't use it with FS2004. Hope you enjoy it. Regards, Bob.

How do I find the estimated time enroute (ETE) for the entire flightwhen using the GPS for a flight plan? FS2002 gave you the estimate time enroute for the next waypoint and ALSO for the ENTIRE FLIGHT route. I can find the ETE in FS2004 GPS to the next waypoint, but I cannot seem to find the ETE for the remaninder of the flight as per the flight plan. Is this information avaliable, and if yes, how do I find it?Thanks.Stanner

Just noticed this after reading an entry on another forum board. I saw it happen and it just did not register. The updated iFDG 767-400ER is a great addition to FS2004. However, if you move the controls to the left (to make a left turn) the left aileron moves downward instead of up. Go right and the left aileron moves down. (Just the opposite of how they work in real life). This does not effect the flight of the aircraft, just the visuals.Bob

within the program, instead of a separate application. That would probably speed up delivery of info between the programs I imagine. And eliminate separate windows.

Reading some of the tweaks floating around, I see that limiting the processes running will help - such as not running any AV software. Is it possible in XP to create a new user login just for FS9? - and only have the minimal processes running? I guess you could even put a link in the start up directory. Instant FS9! What are the minimal processes needed?Any real advantage to this besides saving a few keystrokes?Beemer

The FFX 737-300 series is superb visually, but it feels very overpowered in most phases of flight. It feels about as overpowered as the default airliners which fly great but require comparatively low N1 and low fuel flow as well. Is there a way to fix this in a simple manner (like adjusting the inlet-- or is it the outlet-- values)?Appreciate posts, thanks!JS

Hi,If you are your own worst enemy, like me, and enjoy (?!) tweaking then here's a cautionary tale.A few weeks back I upgraded my ram from 512MB to 1GB and all has seemed well. Don't ask me why it has taken XP this long to run into trouble but today I was pottering around in Paint Shop Pro while downloading a couple of files (using DAP) from FSD International courtesy of a very helpful Steve Small. My dial-up connection failed, as it does from time to time (BT Internet), and while the downloaders were repeatedly trying to re-establish a link a small pop-up appeared above the system tray advising me that my Windows Page File was low and Windows was resizing it. Also it was…

Hi Folks!Has anyone found a fix for this one yet? I get a very short stutter about every 10-15 seconds. Using the FS2004 weather, I get no stutters. I am contemplating upgrading to version 6.2, but don't want to spend the bucks to upgrade if someone has a fix. FSMETEO is a great program, I have used it for a long time, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good weather program. Thanks for any ideas!Airbus

In Windows 98, there is an empty folder called Scenery Cache in the FS9 folder. It is located at: C:WindowsApplication DataMicrosoftFS9Scenery CacheIt's empty. Does FS9 use this to Cache the scenery? Could this scenrey caching be a cause of stutters in systems that only have 512 Mb of RAM or less? I have changed the setting CACHE_WAV_FILES=0 in my FS9.cfg file because I remember having to do that for performance in FS2000. Is there a means of not cacheing the scenery? I don't see anything in the .cfg file indicating that you can.
