Greetings All,I have a dilemma. I am about to release a freeware project, and I am now concerned about the possible reception due to certain design decisions made.The subject involves performance of the sim while in the virtual cockpit. I have tried several freeware and payware ships that have been awesome models, but noticed that due to the complexity of the VC environment, flight smoothness can be impaired. When designing my project, I studied various configurations of panels, gauges, etc., and took into account the performance of each ship while in the VC. Hey guysi just go ActiveSky, and since im in Holland alot of planes fly over leaving nice contrails behind which can stay there for long time, is there such file to add these fixed contrails in the sky?or make the contrails of plane (AI) longer???heards maybe FSW has em, but work with FS09?? let me knowcheers!Nick

For all those who don't like the FS9 water reflection (especially the overcast effect), use the old environment texture files from FS2002 or the superb ones from Gerrit Kranenbarg - or get the brand new "R_Water0.zip" from www.flightsim.no.For those who like to have FS9 style reflections in FS2002 it's the other way around. It looks like MS just forgot to add a bit of alpha channel in the previous version. :-)Have fun.Claudius

I have this weird problem during the FSmeteo connection.It starts like always, "Trying server #1.." - then it stops for a second and it says that both Server 1 and 2 are down and it tells me to download the METAR and stay offline.. Have been getting this message for like the last week, both with 6.0 and 6.2.I'm using FS2004 (FS9) - havent tested in 2002.Anyone willing to give it a shoot?CheersTom

In the days before AI and ATC Flight simming was great fun but very predictable. Now with all the new features every flights holds the chance that your going to see or hear something that you've never before. Just the simple fact of now hearing AI doing touch and go's is a great addition. Why just yesterday I was doing a flight where the AI came over the radio called missed and request to fly to his alternate airport!! coppied my DC-9's from FFX from 2k2 to FS9 and have noticed that all three lights are not operating. Is this a known issue or am I just an idiot :-lol

This question is for the real world pilots. Do flight controllers hand off your flight near as often as in the FS 2002 & 2004? I assume it would be more often in busier areas. It seems unless I am out in the middle of nowhere I am forever getting changed. Thanks in advance!Jim B.

I have been running FS9 for a couple of weeks under Win XP Home and found it v smooth even with my limited system. But I have one odd sound problem - all sounds are ok except for ATC messages which are distorted, scratchy and sometimes slurred [as compared with the same messages in FS 2002]. I also notice that the ATIS message is jerky as it runs across the top of the screen. I have tried all combinations of the sound options, but the output is still very poor.My sound card is a Creative SB PCI 128 with the latest Creative XP drivers and it works well in any other mode [eg playing CDs, FS 2002 etc]. One thing I think that causes people to believe they have poorer performance, is that for a given scenery density setting, airport detail is generally higher than it was in FS2002. Taxiway signs, curved taxiways, etc....they certainly add to the "ambiance" of FS9...So, it stands to reason that reducing the slider would "replicate" the smoothness of FS2002? Well yes, but with a sacrifice. If you reduce the slider all the way, not only are the airports reduced in detail, so is the general scenery. Someone who wants to see a detailed downtown Phoenix, as an example, but also wants a smoother airport approach given say, a lower end system, has to make a tough decision.Sug…

Hi,To all the people who want to be able to copy text to the new knee board can now do it.You need to replace your kneeboard_keys.htm, with the one attached to this post.You need to copy the text you want to put into the kneeboard using the CTRL+C shortcut, then go into FS2004, open the kneeboard, go to the keys page, and hit the "paste text button" this will paste your clipboard text (the text you put into the clipboard with CTRL+C) into the text window in the keys page.I hope that this will help some people outThanksDan.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/35063.zip

When approaching for landing, whenever I try to pull the nose up for a flare landing, my joy stick doesn't respond. (auto ILS and auto approach on)I'm using a Sidewinder Force Feedback 2. This never happened in FS2002.

well im just over halfway to saveing up for a new vid card im planeing on getting a GF FX5600 ultra Id just like some feedback from people that have that card...And no i cant afford to go for anything better this card gonna cost me about $420 AU everything is so expensive in Australia.....Anyway just wondering in regards to noise is the fan on that card really like jet takeing off... Will it singe my computer room wall. And if so will i need to run a fan heater in the room or will the card provide enough heat for a uninsulated room?

Hi,Has everyone else noticed anomalies with ATC in the southern hemisphere ? Have left YSSY twice on Rwy 34L for YMAY and ATC misdirected me both times.After takeoff I was told heading 95 then either heading 155 or 170 and that continued until I was at least 60NM or more off track. I got a bit impatient then and switched to 16x speed and some time during that ATC cancelled the IFR clearance :-).It is also not the right thing to do to turn right after takeoff from 34L (one would cross traffic departing on 34R), but this can be forgiven as the general ATC in FS cannot know local rules I reckon ?Cheers,Siggy

Sorry to beat the old "What Video Card?" horse some more, but I have an opportunity to pick up a Radeon 9500 Pro for $229.99. I don't recall seeing this card discussed here and wondered if anyone has any experience flying FS9 with it. Is there a better choice for that money?Thanks,Bluemax

I can only make large changes in the various bugs in FS2004. For example, clicking on the alt bug will only change it in thousands and the OBS/hdg bugs will only move in increments of 10. I vaguely recall this happening when I got FS2002 and I had to change something but I can't remember what. Anyone? ThanksDavid

Hi folks,Yesterday I downloadeded FS2004 Force Feedback and Wing Leveler.BUT it did not work.The programm started OK but after changing the FF in some planes it had no effect.The lines in the aircraft.cfg were changed but FF was not changedduring the simulation.Please helpRegardsLeen
