I seem to be having a problem that many other people are having. I bought FS2004 yesterday and I am yet to get past the splash screen. I have updated my video card drivers and my sound card drivers along with downloading DirectX 9.0b off of Microsoft's website. I have deleted the fs9.cfg file and tried the no cd patch. It installs without a hitch but ALWAYS hangs at the splash screen. My System:Athlon 1.1ghzSB Live!Nvidia TNT2I-Will Ka-266RAli Magik chipset256 MB Crucial DDRANY help would be greatly appreciated. I can't find the Pilatus Porter refered to on the main AVSIM page under New Uploads to the AVSIM Libary, FS2004 Original Aircraft. When I click on the link, I get a blank page. Same with a Libary search.

In the middle of the runway at my home airport, KLWB, a short distance from the RWY 22 end Mr. Gates has chosen to construct one of the checkerboard buildings, assumed to represent a comm/navigation equipment shack.Looks like MS has claimed eminant domain of the airport. So far, I have ignored it, flown over it, or gone somewhere else. I have read the constant back and forth arguments about MS9, and it's so called "performance" or lack thereof. And I really do think it's time for all of us to perform a little Reality Check.- Flight Simulator was developed and designed to run on a current system today. As most even the most inexpensive computers being sold today are of the varieity of 2.0Ghz, I think it is reasonable to deduce that a 2.0 Ghz machine can be considered "current"- Despite the early hype from some of the Beta Testers, FS2004 will not outperform FS2002 on most computers. I put in the course heading, the correct nav beacon number in nav radio 1. activate it, and set the autopilot to the nav setting.But the airplane keeps flying on a different course, example:I set it to 129, and the airplane was flying 150. The ATC obviously kept telling me to turn left and proceed on course, and after doing that, I set the nav again and it went right back to the different course heading. What am I doing wrong? I know the autopilot adjusts for wind and such, but I am going to keep getting called on to go back from the ATC if this keeps up. Help!

Hi All,I have had the same issues with stuttering as Steve Lewis has had. The sim performance is outstanding in all other parts of a flight except my stutters occur at close approach and landing at 100-200 agl. The pauses and stutter are severe. I've been reading all of the tips and trix in these forums for a few weeks. As a whole, I'm very happy with FS9 performance on my system. I've got a P4 2.26/533mhz 768MB PC2100 RAM, GeForce4 ti4600 128mb (also used a ti4200 64mb - that upgrade helped tremendously). I've got the FPS locked on 18 with all the sliders to the right except water effects - just don't like it, shut it off. I run the sim a 1024x768x32 w/2xAA and 2xAF. I can maintain 18 FPS in every situation/weather conditions except at major airports. KEWR = 12 fps, KJFK = 10 FPS, KCGX = 10 FPS, KORD = 9 FPS, KLAS = 10 FPS ...you get the idea. After a series of puzzling lock-ups while using FS9, now FS9 would not get past the splash screen. I removed FS9.CFG and started FS again. When I tried to select a flight, FS hung with no flights (either canned or saved) listed in the boxes.I put back the original FS9.CFG, changed the option to not show opening screen and FS started normally with the earlier-saved default flight. When I clicked on File|Select Flight, FS hung with a black screen.Can anyone help in getting FS9 to find my flights again? The folder where FS placed them has not changed (in my My Documents/Flight Simulator Files folder). I'm using Windows XP Pro.Doug

Hi guysIn a recent post, i saw a reference to setting a screen refresh hotkey. I think that it's to do with clearing redundant stuff out of the memory as your flight proceeds. i think that JohnCi was the hot key designer but I have not been able to find the specific.any lead and comments on the effectiveness of the 'fix' eould be appreciated.

I installed this bird in FS2004 and it worked flawlessly. Even though it is listed as not having an update, I am sure I have seen other posts which confirm that the plane works in FS2004.Upgraded my system, reformatted, reinstalled everything.Reinstalled the Coranado V35 Bonanza, and it has lost its legs. Like some old AI aircraft, the landing gear does not show up.I have tried just copying from my saved FS2002 aircraft. Tried a fresh install from my download installation CD. . Updated to the patch on the Coranado site. Same thing no matter what I try now. I have no idea what changed.Any ideas?Thanks:RTH

No it's not the lyrics to a cool new Dave Mathews Band song. It's what I have been experiencing and trying to cure in FS9! I have tried just about everything to get rid of these annoying autogen edge shimmers. Alot of great advise has been given in this forum but it seems that this problem lingers on for most of us. I have seen many other posts about other's expereincing this same graphics problem. To say that this issue takes all of the immersiveness and suppension of disbelief out of FS9 is an understatement. Hi All,I have a model of a C210 which I have customize over the years (mainly Gauges to replicate the real C210N I fly). Panel based around the orig. 182(IFR) using the std. Bendix King AP, and works great with 2000, 2002 and now on 2004. However, a problem that has always plagued me with the model is that, there is far to much LAG in the AUTOPILOT when making a turn of more than ..... say, 40 degrees in "one hit" using the Heading Bug on the HSI.E.g.; usually looses 600 fpm in the initial turn and then "Over Corrects" its-self and gains altitude at a rate of anything up to 1500 fpm in order to re-gain the original level prior to the turn. Hello,I've got a fastidious framerate drop when changing to 2D panel view. It usually drops 5-6 frames per second even with the default 172cessna.The fullscreen view (with no panel) is 5-6 fps faster then the 2D panel and also the external view is faster (I suppose it should be slower because of a wider viewing angle instead).I'm willing to try a few tweaks (agp and panelto textures=0) but I'm just confused at the moment.Has anybody the same 2Dpanel framerate drop with geforce3ti200 and, most important:Has anybody found an effective fix for it ?I've got fs2004 (sliders mid-max, default fs9.cfg)windows 2000 pro sp2GEFORCE 3 TI200 128Mbwhql detonator 30.82directx 9.0bcreat…

I can not seem to find the answer to this.Is there an easy way (or a piece of freeware) that one can use to locate the .bgl that contains a particlar airport? Obviously it is easy enough with addons, but in the scenedbeasthemeurnw for example there are a huge number of meaningless file names.Can anyone help on this?ThanksDavid(I'm referring to FS2k2)

Hi, i am trying to get my MS FFB2 Joystick to have some (any) center tension. As it is now in FS9, the joystick will just stay wherever i leave it, and won't re-center. this makes level flight, as well as takeoffs and landings very difficult. In the intro video, the instructors are using the FFB2 as their joystick, so it can't be unsupported. Is there a line i can add to the FS9.cfg to make it work?thanksBen

I have been looking for airport scenery of Lanzarote, Tenerife Norte, and Tenerife Sur. Now the only place I found this scenery was this web site http://www.terra.es/personal6/furquia/canarias/ but I don't think the web site is working anymore, cause everytime I click to download the scenery I get a 404 error.So I was wondering if anyone has the following files tenerife_norte_v1.0.zip tenerife_sur_v1.0.zip and lanzarote_v1.0.zip could you send them to me? I just downloaded some POSKY 747 jets and note that I can only see the limited view of the 2D cockpit, no VC or even the reduced cockpit mode. How do you tell FS2004 config to use the default 747-400 cockpit for all my POSKY 747 aircrafts?Currently the panel.cfg files all have this:[fltsim]alias=B747_400panelThis must be for the 2D and VC cockpit. I was contimplating adding a dual head PCI card for simming purposes, panel on one screen, outside view on the top. A few questions regarding this.1) Has anyone seen a performance reduction with 2 video cards on FS2002 and 2004...
