After all my travails I am very happy to announce that in my final test (default 737-400 at Seattle) default settings except traffic (now 40%), I had the following results: NO stutters or pauses whatsoever on takeoff Frame rate readings {31.9 57.8 71..6} at 2,500 ft {16.1 47.5 66.1} at 3,500 ft Readings in 2D panel view (after looking out the windows a couple of times ;) I will now limit my fps to somewhere between 25-30. Note that I have made no changes to the FS9.cfg file whatsoever.Steve

When i boot up fs 9, a diag box tells me I do not have proper video drivers..and I do have the latest. It states the sim will run in software mode it does not run ..Same reults for 2002.Can I go back to DX9a?MB

Probably something simple, but I need help. I get to the last two destinations and the ATIS comes at me with -400 and -1200 foot cloud readings. I am using the real time weather in FS9 and I noticed they have eliminated the "clear all previous weather" settings button. I assumed on previous versions it cleared the cache and after reading past posts, that seems to be the problem here. So, how does one clean the weather cache in FS9?:-bigangel

Ariane has released this update, but doesnt seem to work for me. The TCAS still doesnt work and the autopilot gauges no longer are clickable at all. The mouseover works, but the gauge wont change settings or activate.I did complete fresh install of this panel. I will revert to the FS8 panel version where the TCAS didnt work, but at least the AP did.Anybody gotten this to work? Does Ariane have a support forum someplace?ThanksEric

I believe I may have inadvertently done something to make the grassy area around airports dissappear in fs 2004.Now I have city textures bordering on runways - help!I have checked the scenery library to see if there was a general airport layer which I could give priority, bu there does not seem to be one.The only landclass file I have installed are local, but I seem to have lost the grassy area for all airports.Hope someone knows a fix.Otherwise I am enjoying this sim very much. It took a lot of tweaking and some upgrades, but the sim is running as well on my system now as fs 2002 once did(12-15fps and looking much, much better than fs2002)AMD Duron 1.3ghz512MB PC133 RamG…

Is my theory correct? I have a 2 Gig CPU and get say 20 frames per second in FS2004 in a particular scene.Thats 10FPS for each 1Gig of processing power.SO if I upgrade to a 3Gig CPU I should get 30 FPS, 10 fps for each 1 Gig of CPU power. All settings in FS2004 are the same for each test and only the CPU is changed for this exercise.SO to take this theory a step forward, if I am struggling with 6 fps with heavy useage ( and I know many of you are )an upgrade to a 3 Gig CPU as mentioned above would yield a huge 9 fps. ( 3 fps for each Gig ) WOW big deal.As I like lots of "eye candy" when flying FS I have all settings at max except water & auto gen at dense. The average …

While flying around NYC today (My home town) I noticed the Whitestone & Throgsneck bridge were missing. I could swear I saw them before, but maybe im getting it mixed up with FS2002, which definatly had them. Did something get hosed on my installation or did Microsoft exclude them. If so, did anyone make a fix for this? Thanks for any info.Rob

Ok, let's see how in the world I can explain this in English. I start SBRelay, everything ok, then I start FS2004 everything still ok, I push F9 so FS Navigator shows up, it does, still good. Now, I do all my connections, SB Host, SB Main Program, Connect to VATSIM, still everything just perfect. I get in my FS2004, and push F9 again to connect FsNav4.6, it's an obligation to do this connection in window mode, so I go to window mode, and connect. Here comes, the big problem, once I am in Window Mode, when I hit ALT+ENTER, or View>Full Screen, everything goes black, so I need to restart. This is not an FsNav prob, cause it happens also without him, if I am in FS2004, and…

I'm unable to use the mouse to pan in Active Camera 2004 and wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem and has a solution. I have a Logitech wireless mouse with a scroll wheel. It will not allow me to pan the view from side to side or up and down in VC or Spot view. All I can do is zoom in and out by turning the scroll wheel. Pressing it down and moving the mouse has no effect on the view whatsoever. I believe my settings are correct and I've read the manual many times about the intricacies of these settings, especially for Spot View. I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem with a Logitech wireless mouse and has found a solution. The scroll whe…

Hello all...I think I figured something very important today about Meljet-PSS merge. If you have been using the suggested merges on the forums, they suggest you replace contact_points in the PSS aircraft.cfg file with the ones from Meljet. Although, this does work, it produces one very nasty sideffect: it will not allow aircraft to roll between V1 and VR, or at VR (those two are always very near). It will allow you to roll some 20-30kts higher. This can be very bad thing if you got a heavy load, taking off with maximum weight and have just enough runway to go. It has happened to me million times that I've rolled out of the runway and then took off.Anyway, after todays 2-3…

Hi all..I've got a question for you FS2004 experts out there, after looking for ages, I just can't find the answer. What I want to do is start a flight without the engines already started, so I can go through the startup sequence, etc. I can't find anywhere that tells me how to do this, or if it is even possible. It really bugs me, someone help!-Hareball

I've read, with much amusement I have to admit, the latest outpourings and flames regarding the No CD crack or No CD patch depending on how political you wish to be. So can someone please explain this to me?There have been many references on exactly where to go to get the software to create a virtual CD drive on a hard disk and then copious explanations on exactly how to do this. This is a way to eliminate having to keep the FS9 CD disk 4 in the CD drive.Using a a No CD crack or No CD patch is also a way to eliminate having to keep the FS9 CD disk 4 in the CD drive.According to some people avoiding Microsoft's intention of having to keep a CD in the CD drive is a form o…

I get this error when I try to compile a scenery made with FS Design Pro I am working on. Seems there is a change I can make so the program will handle more complex Macro's. I just can't remember how and where that is.Error in macro file C:PROGRA~1MICROS~4FSSCEN~1MACROSMACROSIDAHOS~1SILVAQ~1.API line 3155 -> EndA -> -> Linebuffer (65534) overflow, line 67/1345 truncated ! -> fatal error, code: 32767Scasm compilation status: aborted

SBRelay is a program to enable FS2004 with SquawkBox 2 (SB) and the various networks it supports (VATSIM, IVAO, etc.). It does this by creating an FS2002 session and an FS2004 session internally, and then translating and forwarding all SB players from the FS2002 session to the FS2004 session. By connecting both SB and FS2004 to SBRelay, you can fly in FS2004 and be connected to the network, just as you did with FS2002. SBRelay is a multi-threaded C++ Windows application built for high performance, and uses very little CPU or system resources.Download from the SBRelay web site:http://www.chocolatesoftware.com/sbrelayWhat's new in version 1.1:Fixed incorrect velocity for al…

You know what, I am enjoying the hell out of FS9 but what I AM having the most problem with is coming to forums and seeing the SAME FREAKING QUESTIONS OR PROBLEMS COMING UP!!How do I do this? How do I do that? Why is my card flickering? Why is the price of rice based in China? Where am I? How Old Am I?JEEPERS CREEPERS, is there really THAT MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN AROUND THE FORUMS UNABLE TO SEARCH OR READ? That is THE MOST annoying problem to me so far with FS9. You know what all you people that say to yourself "Then don't come here and read anything anymore" you may be right!!!BECAUSE GUESS WHO'LL BE LEFT? ALL YOU PEOPLE WHO CAN'T READ AND SEARCH!I HIGHLY believe i…

Was looking at the package at the panelshop.com and had a few questions.1. Who wrote the software? The reason I ask is it showed some pics and mentioned that some guy had made modifications to the VC. It almost seemed like the panelshop had so much info that they were the developers.2. FS2004 - How well does it do with the new sim?RegardsBob G

In FS2004 Window mode, you can undock and drag your gauge (such as the Garmin GPS) to your second monitor. Then you can press Alt+Enter to go into Full Screen mode. The gauge(e.g.GarminGPS) stays on the second monitor. The problem comes when you press Alt+Enter to re-enter Window mode. The gauges (GPS or other) "fly" back to the original FS window. A real headache.Well guess what! FSNAV4.6 doesn't have this problem. You can hit Alt+Enter all day and the undocked FSNAV map/FMS/FlightPlanner STAYS PUT where you placed it on the second monitor. Now if we could get FSNAV's author to share his secret with M$!!BTW, I just paid for FSNAV. Excellent program.Larry Jones

I was thinking about purchasing this program for my computer. However, this program requires 800mhz and XP in order to not encounter any problems. If someone has a system without these specifications, can you tell me how the program is holding up? My system is running about 700mhz and I have windows 98. However, I have expanded my memory and I have installed the PNY 5200 ultra 3D graphics card. With these upgrades, FS2002 and FS2004 is working fine with the exception of some slowing of framerates in FS2004 when I get close to a city(such as LAX, ORD) at night with rain and clouds.Captain CarrPS I bought a laptop with about 2Ghz. Maybe I will break down and buy an up…

Anyone tried an IFR flight from YBBN north yet?I tried today & found that atc hands you off to control on 119.8 which happens to be the ATIS for Maroochy. So once you contact Bn control on this frequency they reply & then the ATIS message begins & continues to loop not allowing you to reply to atc instructions. This inevetibly ends up with a cancelled flight plan, a request to change frequency at which point you are able to re lodge your flight plan somewhat defeating the "real as it gets" feeling. If anyone knows of a work around I would like to hear it as I consider this a major stuff up as my home town is Brissy & I do a lot of flying to & from it.
