hi, I just downloaded the PMDG AIRAC cycle from the temporary navdata.at site and now I wonder where the files go? ok, it does come with an installer but nevertheless the FMC does not know 1 single airport!?! the installer put all files in the fs2004 root directory? is that correct? if yes, why does the FMC not use the new data? any idea?CheersPhilCome to DAD!http://www.dangerous-airports.com/images/dad_logo.jpgAMD XP 2700+, 1GB RAM, ASUS A7N8X, ATI Radeon 9700, 17" TFT

Hello would some be kind enough to remind me what key is used to toggle the IFR hood in MS FS 2002. It's been some time and I've checked on AVSIM, the help file and MS support but for the life of me can't remember. Many thanks for your help.

I know there are better brands but to anybody with an HP or a Compaq Desktop, how good are they? have you had any problems with them? what's the performance in these computers?Thanks

I received a warning during FS2004 that my Page File was low and that it was being expanded. I was curious so I brought up the Windows XP Task Manager display to monitor memory and page file usage. What I saw was a continual slow drain of memory and and a coressponding increase in the paging file. It was slow enough to not be an issue on short VFR flights but I left the system unattended during a flight for awhile and thus the error. The memory usage climbed to 374mb (have 512mb installed). I never recall more than 350mb in FS2002.Turning off various options and reducing sliders did not reveal any pattern. It seemed that once the memory drain began it just continued.Other…

Well, when I take a plane and fly somewhere, I put on AP and AT and set my speed. Now what happens is the AP and AT speed up, so say it is set at 290kts. It will go up to like 300kts, then the engines will power back to 290kts again. Then like 5 minutes later, the engines spool up and it will speed up to like 300 kts again. I usually fly right at or next to the overspeed of the plane. So it always makes it overspeed and stuff!Any help would be appreciated!

Well, on take off anyway. Finally corrected the problem but it took all night.First, I downloaded RamIdle and WinTop as suggested in several posts. Nothing was running that wasn't supposed to. I set RamIdle to leave 125 Mb of RAM available. Tested my FS9 set up but still had the pauses on takeoff.Deleted FS9.cfg and rebooted. Tested again. Same problem. Pauses on takeoff.Finally, I removed my SoundBlaster Live card and all the associated files. I used Registry Clean Expert from ZDNet. I then completely removed FS9. Used registry clean expert again to remove any FS9 files lurking about.Did a complete Defrag. Did this twice. Reloaded FS9 complete. Set up my tes…

Hi everyone,Without wanting to appear stupid or ignorant, could anyone possibly give me EXACT intructions on how to SUCCESSFULLY install the interior textures for the superb FFX 737 series. I have the zip, obtained from the FFX 737 page, but I have tried installing it in the past, but it doesn't seem to work. Should all three of the files contained in the zip be installed, even the file entitled md_83_t??Also, what textures are needed for the interior of the passenger door etc? Or are these down to the livery repaint artists?Come to think of it, another question...the airstairs, are these linked to the notoriously quirky SHIFT+E+2 assigment?Any help most appreciated.Ki…

There is a Beta Bios update (Fb3) to fix problems with this setup at the Gigabyte website. It seems to have ended the un-expected Blue screen in mid flight for me and framerates are up by about 10%.Regards Nitram

Hey Steve....I'm glad to see ya running after all your frustrations with FS2004. Now we need to duplicate what you have done with all others that are having the same problems. As we can see with your situation, it was NOT FS2004, but the equipment running it. As mentioned, FS is very graphically intense, and we need finely tuned systems to run it. Not neccessarily very high end machines, but finely tuned. Did your FS performance improve substantially with the removal of the Soundblaster setup within your system? I think we will find that Soundblaster sound cards are generating a lot of the problems also. This again would be a hardware issue...not a Soundblaster/FS…

I have tried to use Bills AWESOME scenery for Atlanta in FS2004.However ordering this new scenery above the default in the scenery.cfg does not suppress the default. You wind up with 2 Georgia Domes etc. The default is so bad its stupid. The Omni is still there...(torn down 5 years ago...not present in FS8.) The 1996 Olympic stadium is still there...converted to current Turner Field configuration in 1997. Georgia Techs Bobby Dodd Stadium at Grant Field is not present at all. Stone mountain isnt there... the MS default is just isnt close. Bills scenery is almost exact.Moloys scenery does show up and does look great in FS9. The problem is that the default also sho…

Can I program in multiple FL in an IFR plan? SOmetimes the weather is nicer at higher alts or I just like to "coast down" after reaching my half way mark to conserve fuel. But I cant seen to be able to get around MSFS Flight Controllers!

Flight Simulator 2004I just completed a leg of the DC-3 from Denver to Salt Lake City.After landing I had a heckuva time getting the aircraft to steer to the terminal. (Yes, the tail wheel was unlocked.)Then when clicking on the "Throttle" icon in the cockpit mode, I noticed that when I advanced the throttle using the joystick (Microsoft Sidewinder 1.0, (no hat switch") only one throttle lever moved forward. Using the keyboard commands F1 (cut) F2 (Increase) F4 (Full), only one throttle lever moved.I could grab the throttle with the mouse and move each one forward, separtely of course, but this is not a good alterative to use when airborne.When I took off, I just used the…

I wasn't sure if I'd read a thread somewhere about this DC-10 having an unstable or inaccurate FDE, and that the FFG model was better? If anybody's flying this a/c and has observations, could you post your findings?Thanks!JsP.S. I installed my trusty old FFG DC-10s into FS2004 and got a warning that it was not compatible with the sim. But I clicked OK anyway and I got the DC-10 OK except that the engine pods were empty and you could see right through them! Is there a fix for this?

Aloha Village is a wonderful scenery in FS9 but I can usually only fly there a couple of minutes before my screen goes black and FS freezes. This happens in no other area. What could be the culprit. I have a Athlon 2800 and Nvidia 5200 FX. I also have Gerrish Trees_V3 installed in FS9.

Does anybody know why this keeps happening to me?When I'm taking really long flights, I loose my ground scenery.When there is clear skies, all I get is blue skyline for scenery below me like in the enclosed attachment. At night time its even worst. What I see then is stars below me.I see the same thing at 10000ft and even around 4000ft. When I am able to see the airport and the surrounding scenery, all I get is flat land, no trees, rivers, nothng else and a big brown spot where the airport is suppose to be. FS2004 is amazing, in that you are always discovering something new....Did you know that you can save you saved flights to the desktop? If you click on the saved flight, you are taken directly to that saved flight. You do not have to go through your pre-opening stuff.Now, for the idea....To Microsoft: It would be nice if you had a checkmark in the saved flight box that asked you if you want a shortcut to your desktop, for this saved flight.Good Idea or what?Paul

After messing around with the weather in fs2004, I have to say its bad. First of all I never get the thickness of the clouds that I set. When I set overcast its not even overcast, and plus you can see right through it, and when visibiliy on ground is lets say 3 miles miles and you climb to a higher level where you have a higher visibility setting, then you could see the ground again from 30000ft with atis reporting ground visibility 3 miles in heavy rain, what the hell is this all about, this is worser than fs2002, is there a fix for this.??? Ok, I have seen a bunch of people ogle over the Mega Scenery for SoCal, but I can't see my self buying it because I have no special Attachment to SOCAL, and I'm not sure I would like the transition from MS Default to MegaScenery.. Just too abrupt.However, FSGenesis has their US Land Class and US 38m Scenery on sale. (Actually everything is on sale)The 38M Enhanced Scenery for the US is absolutely unbelievable. Hi,Today I finally installed FS2004 and began he process of transfering aircrafts etc from FS2002 to FS2004. When I fired up the PMDG736 it looked like the panel shapness was much less than in FS2002. Once Ive tuned to the correct VOR where do I get the correct heading to go to it. The map doesnt seem to have it.

I have installed FS2004 on my pc, an AMD2400XP with 750mb ddr ram and a Radeon 8500 128mb video card. It works pretty good, with all graphics sliders at half or a little better than that. But I have a serious problem. Most of the times, exactly at touchdown, from any view, the frame rates drop from an average 20fps that I usually have to 1 or 2 maybe!!! This only happens when the a/c (default or add-on) touches down, and for the rest of the landing roll. CAN ANYBODY PLEASE HELP AND ADVISE?!?!?!?:-hmmm
