I know this topic has been discussed in great length in a recent thread. Specifically, fog or zero disability occurs suddenly when the wx is nominally clear. The above happened to me recently on one of my rare VFR (simulator) flights from San Bernadino to Camarillo, CA. (I almost always, fly IFR).As I approached CMA the wx, 10 mile vis, with scatterred, suddenly fogged in and went to zero disability, and I lost the airport.I have not tried Microsoft's suggestion of deleting the temp. internet files prior to initiating the flight, but apparently others have done this without success.I've never had the above take place on an IFR flight, only on this one VFR flight. I don't …

This has hapenned to me four times this week:I'm flying or taxying around sunset, and just as the sun totally dissapears below the horizon but I am yet getting brilliant colors, the sim decides to reload everything, and sometimes goes back about an hour in time making it full daylight again, and Im not passing anywheres near a time zone delimiter. Also, when I reset the time by an hour giving me back my sunset, the AI decides now to all group together and appear from the same spot in the sky. That is the now famous time when you get a sequence of AI ATC instructions ad infinitum ....add ad nauseum too...they are all grouped together from some point and go there separate wa…

I can't find any atc that is appropriate for choppers. You are not going to taxi to an airstrip with skids. And when you land atc assigns you to a runway the same as a plane. If I take off without contacting atc they keep telling me I do not have permission to take off. Seems like there should be atc to direct the chopper to a helipad. Has this been done by a 3rd party download? Don

What did MS do in FS2004 to prevent the tail draggers to be steered with a two axis joystick and autocoordination on. I can steer the R4D and the Duck from FS2002 in FS2004 with this setup but can't steer any of the stock FS2004 tail draggers. Is the problem in the model files or the airfiles? I have studied the airfiles for both the Duck and R4D and noted differences that are not in the stock tail draggers of FS2004. I tried editing the stock DC-3 airfile to no avail. I know that I can use differential braking, differential engine power, or buy a new three axis joystick, but sure would like to use the present joystick like the other planes allow. Thanks, regards, Bob.

Folks; For those of you running MS Flight Sim on Win XP and an Intel Hyperthreading CPU, here's a truly amazing performance booster:After starting FS, go into task manager (CTRL_ALT_DEL)Select Processes tabRight click on FS9.exe, select "Set Affinity"Disable one of the two check boxes so that FS9 only runs on one virtual CPU (I use CPU 0).Do the same on any other running utilities (i.e. FDC, RC) and select the other virtual processor.I see better than a doubling in frame rates. This, of course, assumes that hyperthreading is supported and enabled on your motherboard and BIOS settings. Thanks to Sean McLeod for this one.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-3…

Well, I put this sim on ebay today. I have been spending way too much time with this thing. I have been upgrading, tweaking and flying a little bit to the point of craziness. I have two kids and this is what got me. My boy came up to me last night and said, "Hey dad- you want to play". I kept saying "In a minute". "One more minute". Tweaking this #$%^ sim. No more. I stopped and I thought- what am I doing, They only grow up once and it's goodbye sim for awhile. I was amazed in just how obsessive this sim was becomming. Also, after 150 dollars of upgrades, I'm still stuttering. This isn't fun- this is crazy. Oh well. Happy flying.:)Todd

Hi,I'm new to this forum and this is my first post, hopefully this fix will cure problems a lot of people appear to be having. I don't know if this advice has been offered before so please ignore if it has. I used to have some major problems with stutters and pauses in nearly all games & apps until i tried this fixed and they are now all gone. You will need to download a program called powerstrip (google for it) and apply these changes. I can't take any credit for the fix as i stumbled across it a while ago. Here is the relevant info from the article:PowerStrip does one thing, however, that no other utility I've found does. To wit, it allows you to examine and overrid…

I installed FSGenesis landclass in FS9 today and all I can say is Wow. I live in northeast Ohio and this is an area that Microsoft just didn't get right. South of Cleveland where there should be lots of farmland and lots of small towns it looks like the prairie out west. Now with the landclass addition it looks like the real thing. They have a beta that you can download and try. I installed the beta in Fs2002 and after one flight I was reaching for my credit card. In some areas it didn't change much but for Ohio it was a big change. With my latest addition I can't think of anything I want in a sim that this sim doesn't have. I am one happy camperRichard

AllI have a problem with the C182's idle speed. I use the PFC Cirrus II unit that has the built in throttle Quad with 1.55 driversHere's the problem, whenever I close the throttle, (sitting on the ramp, rolling down the runway after landing, during taxi, etc). The engine dies. It will immediately re-start without changing any controls but then dies again. Not until I move the throttle above 1000 RPM will it stay running.I have variants of the C182s that utilize the default airfile/cfg as well as Ron Freimuth's FS2002 version and RealAir's FS2002 version and they all do it. And it's limited to the C182. The 172 doesn't. The ARcher doesn't, the Cardinal doesn't, the D…
