I just got a 42" plasma screen at work and I'm contemplating something similar for FS use at home. Does anyone know if there is a way to format FS to use the widescreen without distorting the image? I would assume those with LCD projectors wrestle with the same problem. There are also new medium sized LCD monitors that are widescreen which could be cool too. ThanksDavid

I soon found when I tried to fly the "First United States Airmail Route" with the Jenny I had no control of the rudder except with the keyboard keys and that was erratic. I'm using a CH Products Flight Sim Yoke and Pro Pedals which work very nicely for everything else but when it comes to the Jenny there is little to no rudder response. Has anyone seen this problem? The Jenny flies fine after I learned to adjust the elevator trim with the coarse trim wheel on the Flight Sim Yoke, which from other forum comments I understand has no use. It certainly fixed the Jenny's trim. Otherwise, because the Jenny has no trim it is intolerable to hold onto the yoke all the time to k…

  7. I've seen an awful lot of people complaining about the lack of multi-monitor support in FS2004 and appearing (to me) to be making their own lives totally miserable as a result.Well chaps, I have the solution for you. Switch to windowed mode and all the panels can be docked, the flight saved and then reloaded in their correct places when you reload the flight. You can get rid of the menu bar by right-clicking on the view window and choosing the "Hide Menu" option. Then you can right-click the Taskbar, choose Properties and select "Auto-hide the Taskbar".All that's left is the windows title bar and by changing Windows settings it can be made quite narrow. The title bar is a …

Can anyone here point me to a site, or recommend any low-poly, frame-rate friendly aircraft that would be suitable for general aviation aircraft, similar to what PAI has done for commercial aircraft (other than the default aircraft included with FS9)? Thanks in advance for any responces.

Twas flying along today and selecting the FMS as the inputs for the autopilot. What I found was that the FMS/GPS was still looking to pass the departure airport waypoint so it made a wild turn 180 degrees. I couldn't figure out how to switch waypoints through the ERJ panel. I can do it in the regular GPS, but not here. How is this done?Boyd Barker, Senior Command CaptainDirector of Special ProjectsKBOS Hub ManagerWestWind Airlineswww.flywestwind.com

What a crock! Another outright MS lie. Still cannot undock successfully in full screen mode without undocked pieces from windowed mode flying back into the primary monitor and being hidden. The GPS might remain on a secondary monitor in full screen, but it cannot be moved then.I am not going to the AVSIM conference because of schedule conflicts but if I were, I'd take this issue to any MS representatives there and ask them what they plan to do about this because at this rate, I am going to keep FS2002 and give up 2004 much though I think 2004 is a vast visual improvement over 2002.JS

Hi guys,In FS2004 I'm supposed to be able to choose my departure runway, right? However, on Schiphol, my home base, I have found that this doesn't work.In FS2002 the only runway I could use for take-off was 24, since 06 in real life is never used for take-off (this pair being the automatic choice of ATC since it was the longest). And for landing I could only use 06, since 24 has no ILS and is hardly ever used in real life. So by shifting the wind I could force ATC to see things my way, although I didn't like being limited to only that pair. Now, in FS2004, I find that for some reason I CAN'T get 24 or 06. If I set the wind to 240 degrees I get rwy 27, which, there we go ag…

I am still using FS2002, and will be for a while. I am noticing now that there is just too much cruft in the game. I have added bits and pieces over time, and do not even remember what all I have done to it. There are double flights in AI at times, resulting in commercial airliners doing some sort of formation flying into airports, and so on. I am wondering if any of you could give me a 'best tips' sort of way to start over, and to begin adding features/etc to the sim. I am generally looking at free options, since that is all I have ever had installed into it anyway. I had a lot of Project AI things in there, which were brilliant, although some of them never seemed to act…

Does anyone know if Ted Wright is still around? I liked his NAV 3.1 for FS2000/FS2002. I tried sending him an e-mail to see if there was any update planned for FS2004 and his old e-mail address was not valid. Thanks, regards, Bob.

I'm sure somebody has tackled this question before, but here goes:Has anyone studied zoom levels mathematically to determine which level provides the most realistic view? I'm am not asking which zoom level you think is more aesthetic or functional, but which most accurately reproduces the profile of distant objects across your field of vision. It seems like this would come down to a simple question of geometry.

  17. I've just built my new upgrade and, as a result, have enough 'spare parts' to build a second PC. I would like, in the future (after building a sim-pit), to use multi-monitors and have read about the changes and problems to multi-monitor support under FS2004. Since I can effectively use a dedicated second system though, are there still problems present?I.e. is anyone using networked systems to run FS2004 atm?I would be using a P4 2.8/1GB/Radeon 9800pro as the main system with a XP2000/512MB/Ti4600 as the second system. I assume I would need a registered copy of WideFS? Is this right?Since both graphic cards are dual output, I assume that I would also have the option of add…

Hi:I am still using FS2k2. I had used a program called GetWeather from Bearsoft for awhile. It was a neat little program that downloaded real world weather info from Microsoft/Jeppesen weather sight and stored it on the hard drive for later retrieval. This worked well for me because I could download real world weather information while at work to take home and use in FS2k2 since I currently have no internet connection at home. I haven't downloaded any new weather for a while. Today, I saw that Bearsoft was releasing Getweather version 3.0 so I downloaded it, installed it here at work and tried to run it. I am getting a message that it cannot connect to FS2kzone. Ha…

I incounter this problem with all choppers. It has to do with the helicopter always wanting to yaw left (as in rudder action, not banking). I dont actually know if its a problem or just a pain in the nutt realistic thing. I have heard different opinions. Some say turn torque down, did that, some say recal stick, do that every time. But one thing i know is everyone i talk to claims that they either have had this problem but dont anymore, or have never had it.I run a USB Saitek Rumble Force, win2k and FS2002. It has happend on other sticks, gameport and USB. Other sims, (2000, 98, etc) and other OSs (ME and 98). Most say recal your stick and it should be fine, dosnt help…

Seems a bit unfriendly, don't you think? Or perhaps I am missing something.Advice anyone?Mike
