I'm kicking this into this forum since I can't get a reply from the Captain Sim forum.Everything works with my 1.5 version in FS9 except the NavCom frequency change. It will allow me to turn the first three numbers, but not the last two, example: 114.25, I can't turn the .25 numbers, any help would be appreicated. Can't fly without this, any ideas or suggestions.dbuck

Every time I fly out of my home airport (1SO) with real world weather, visibility is limited to 10 miles at ground level, which puts everything in a mucky haze. Usually, once I get in the air things clear out.I just tried it again with real-world weather. In the sim, everything is gray. In the real-world, looking out my Window, it is a nice, clear, crisp day ... not very hazy at all. When I check the reporting station for this area (Mchord Air Force Base), it shows 10 miles visibility.Could it be that the reporting station is just giving out bad data? Any way to address this other than manually updating the station every time?

Hello everyone,I've been considering getting Jeppesen's Simcharts now for a couple months since I really enjoy flying instrument approaches in FS2002. That's pretty much the reason I purchased the simulator. Now I've read on Microsoft's website that in COF "IFR pilots can look up any instrument approach in the world" with its Garmin GPS feature.I'm assuming that this means COF includes approach plates (maybe even STARs & DPs?). Am I right about that? Since I'm planning on buying COF, should I even bother with Simcharts? Thanks,Matt MooreMoab, Utah

I have run into a problem in FS2004 while using 3rd party (freeware) planes that are 2004 ready. The problem is that when I switch from cockpit view to spot plane view, the plane shows up bare and after maybe 5 - 10 seconds, the textures then pop up. It does not happen all the time. Sometimes when I cycle they are there and sometimes thaey are not. Happens with IFDG, Posky and Meljet planes. My system should be able to handle the this, (2.8Ghz PIV, 512 MB Ram, 128 MB ATI 9800) Not using the latest Catylst 3.6 drivers but I am not sure if it is video driver related or to do with something else.Display setting changes within FS2004 do not seem to make a difference. Sorry if…

First the good news.Got my new MB/CPU (retail box with all Intel Originals)/Memory/supplier checkout bundle, installed the bundle, and had unbelievable smoothness in FS2004. Limit set @ 40fps. All sliders at max except traffic which was left at default, which I think was 10-20%. The first two distance weather settings were set at 80 and 40 miles each with clouds and everything else full right. resulting in 30-40fps just about everywhere with default airports. With SimFlyers KJFK, KATL, fps decreased to the teens, even low teens or 10 once or twice but smoothness was still there for the aircraft of choice. (PSS 747 or my favorite 717). Slight stutter on distant scenery, bu…

Hi Guys,I would like to make small adjustments to some of the default planes in fs9, but I have no idea what and where to tweak.I feel that when a plane is deflected from its longitudinal axis using rudder and then the rudder is removed, the plane springs back to the original longitudinal axis too violently and sometimes exhibits characteristics of an underdamped oscillation. Are there variables I can adjust to damp the action of the restoring force when the rudder input is removed? Where are the variables located? How much adjustment might be needed? I would also like to modify some of the default planes so that the nose wheel steering in a tricycle gear airplane is much…

I cannot see how an aircraft can get into this state even with me behind the controls. Is there a tweak to speed up the response of the trim wheels that are so slow?Or what is "the way" to prevent this?AllenPS that is not a real plane in the pic....(haha)

Hi,I am not sure this is already adressed, but if you want to see a bit more contrails, you can add this line to the GENERAL_ENGINE_DATA section in the aircraft.cfg:max_contrail_temperature = -20Normally they show above FL300, or like the default 737 below -30 degrees celcius. If you add max_contrail_temperature = -20 to your PAI jets, they show a bit earlier, depending on the temperature. Might not that real but makes the blue sky more lively.Johan[A HREF=http://www.phoenix-simulation.co.uk]Phoenix Simulation Software[/A]-----http://www.people.zeelandnet.nl/johdUnofficial PSS Website

  15. The new Ifdg 767s are quite spectacular in FS2004, but go into spot view or engine and wing view and everything comes to a giant pause while the textures load. The paints are excellent, but man, we're talking long loading times, and I have fairly fast computer, completely "FS2004 tweaked" with the latest FX 5900 card.I might experiment with the texture converter program, but I hate to do that to someone's hard work. However, I want to fly smoothly, that's my number one preference.Any thoughts on this?Lee

Hey guys!!! We know my english is not so well, but somehow I'll try to explain the problem I am experiencing with my yoke, which is the one name in the topic.Everything, except one thing works just fine...that exception is my THROTTLE, don't know why, but when I pull all the way back, instead of going idle, it keeps a little power on it, so I can't reverse the thottle (A bad problem for big planes and short runways. If any of you has experience this prob, please take the time to explain me...I have installed the CD lots of time, I also tried to the F1 and F2 key, but this won't help. Thanks in advance for any help I can get from you, I really need to solve this as soon as I…

Hello :)Can someone explain why so many files in the various libraries contain thumbs.db files? They're useless on my system, and some of them are 800Kb - 1Mb in size! If you know that your PC doesn't use thumbs'db files then delete them ....... I have regained tens of megabytes of hard disk space :)

Just went to check again in the Captain Sim site for a patch so I could use my 727 in FS2004. Instead of a patch, they are mimicking detergent makers by offering a "new" improved version for FS2004! At a cost of $36.95 US. Less than a year ago, I bought my 727, and had the manuals printed at considerable expense (my modest printer couldn't handle that). Any ideas of how to get the 727 to work in 2004? Captain Sim seems to be uncontactable (new word?) -- I've tried every which way.

If you fly in Colorado for real you know that the major passes have their own ASOS reporting stations. Does anyone know if these are available through the METAR system and, if so, does that weather show up in FS9? Sure would be nice if it did! The frequencies don't work but I suppose it would be possible to generate a tiny little airport at each station so the ATIS would work.David

Hello all,I was forced to reformat my drive two days ago because of a partitioning gone bad. I was running windows XP before, and I've always had great textures with FS2004.Now, I installed Windows 2000 yesterday (I didn't get a CD with my laptop.. so can't reinstall XP) and I installed all my drivers, and today I thought I'd install FS2004I now have blurred textures all the time. Has anyone found a way to force FS9 to NOT save the date and time? [DateTimeSeason]Day=234Year=2003Hours=11Minutes=52Seconds=20Season=SummerThis entry in the *.flt file in the C:Documents and SettingsYOUR NAME HEREMy DocumentsFlight Simulator Files is what controls it.. This heading will make the flight start on the same date and time every time. What I would like to do is to force it to start with the computer date and time or the current date and time. I have tryed to make all enterys =0 but that forces it to not have a start time and has to be set.Any help on this would be appreciatedJoe W.
