  3. I downloaded the Weather-Maker winter storm theme but it doesn't seem to work right for me. Whenever I select the "use weather themes" button and this particular theme, FS9 keeps resetting the weather to "user-defined weather" as soon as I return to flying. Am I missing something? I thought that this was just another theme that I could add to FS. Do I need to have the weather-maker program to make this winter theme work? Does anybody else have this problem with FS9 switching from themes to user-defined weather? (I have the latest FSUIPC by the way.)

This sucker is amazing indeed. Went to Accuweather and found out where the trouble was, loaded up the Lear and took off from Phoenix Sky Harbor to Las Vegas, near sundown. Spectacular! I took about 10 shots on the way and they, and the trip, were downright breathtaking. After some local VFR today in placid Northern Cal in the Mooney, it was time for some excitement. I still have butterflies!I am stoked on how well this rig is performing. Hang in there anyone who has the ponies but can't seem to reel them in. When I was dead into much turbulance and dense clouds I had to switch to 1280 x 1024 (normally running at 1600 x) and she was locked on 22fps taxiing around Ph…

OK. I think I've just about got FS9 tweeked. However, I think that my virtual memory is filling up and causing my freezes when I approach my destination. With Win98Se, is there a way to insure that the cache gets emptied in a timely manner and doesn't continue to fill up with textures? (I let Windows 98Se manage the virtual memory). I've removed my Landclass from the Scenery/Base/Scenery folder after reading that it may cause the freezes. I can't try these new tweeks until tomorrow morning but it I can just keep my virtual memory from filling up it may be that I've got the sim to work for my system. (Still need a better video card as I continue to have some stutter…

I don't actualy understand how they can get away with this, isn't this ''missrepresentation'' or ''false advertising'' at the very least, what about the old saying that a product should be fit for purpose and do exactly what the manufacturers say it should do. does anyone have a way or address to contact the FS people, not the main MS site, it's like a minefield and no one ever replies to you anyway, but I do feel strongly about this one myself as I too have been using multi-monitors for years now and was looking forward to this newer version as well as you people, perhaps Microshaft may be pressured into doing something about this, but I won't be holding my breath,my lun…

The MelJet 744 and 777 series seem to have centers of gravity that are somewhat forward of the default models; and in fact they appear to be outside the indicated acceptable range according to the schematic in the Fuel window of FS2004. Does this matter for simming? Generally, how important is the modelling of the CoG within FS2004? Appreciate posts, thanks!JS

How many of you have an AMD XP 2100 or higher, an NVIDIA FX4200 with drivers greater than 44.03, and a system that gives VERY POOR FRAME RATES AND CRASHES LEADING TO REBOOTS?There was a time when MSFlightSimulator was the defacto program to demonstrate that a manufacturers PC was to the highest standard. PC shops used to have it running on each PC at exhibitions, in the shop, even giving it away with PCs sold.Oh dear what happened? It now appears that even if you have a decent PC, a reasonable and very widespread graphics card, with industry standard drivers, MSFS2004 either struggles or completely crashes the machine.I have tried every trick and fix including; operating s…

Hi,well... it's been mentioned before: FS9 is, also on my system, totally unusable. Either when starting it, or after pressing the 'fly now' button, or in flight, my system freezes completely. Can't even use anymore, I have to reset the computer.I've reinstalled WinXP twice last week, and FS9 at least 10 times. I've tried with DirectX 9.0a and 9.0b. I've tried with different videocard drivers, with and without XP Service Pack 1 (and other Windows Update-patches), with my soundcard disabled etc. etc. etc. Still no joy. So, if anyone has a suggestion on what I can do next that does not involve returning FS9 to the shops (I really want to fly it), please let me know!My syst…

I have noticed that after take off with rudders enabled the aircraft will bank slightly even if I don't touch the controls. Keeping level flight is more difficult since the plane will change its heading even if I do nothing. Is this normal?

I took delivery of my new car two weeks ago and have had endless problems with it. It replaces the 2001 model which, after some tweaking of the engine, ran very smoothly indeed. This new model, the FS9, runs very slowly and erratically, the engine stutters when I turn a corner

Multimonitor support, haze that works properly and a few other useful features were presentin 02, now look. They did this with my former fav golf sim, Links. First they put shadows in, then for Links 2001, they took them out. Then back in again for Links2003. I bought Excel 95 some years ago--it had a very nice ability to embed .wav files easily into worksheets. So I developed a killer stock trading tool that called out buying and selling and a bunch of other very cool, if I do say so myself, features. Excel 2000 comes along--they took out embedded sound files. The whole thing looks like a move to get people to upgrade over n over, sometimes for something as pathet…

Hi all,This is my first posting on the AVSIM forums in probably, oh, a good year and a half. It's nice to be back.I received FS2K2 for Christmas two years ago; I was stoked, until I realized that my underpowered and already more than two years old laptop just couldn't run it. So I've been waiting patiently...I'm going to order a new mid-level Dell desktop computer in the next week; the wait to give FS2K2 a try is almost over! I have been impressed with 2K2 since I first saw it (and have had the chance to try it a few times on other computers). So, what I would like to know from 2K2 vets is how should I configure the sim to make it as real as possible? What are some must ha…

I'm looking for a way to change the default distance of spot plane view in my aircraft. Most AC's default distance is 300ft or greater and I find myself having to manually set the distance everytime I load a new plane. I know I can use zoom but it's too much like cropping the whole picture. Anyone know how to do this or how to edit the mdl file? Thanks,Tim

Yesterday I bought this add-on in Lago and WOOOOW, I can say I redicovered FS2002 with this new program. I suggest you buy it for only $10 and you will feel a real pilot experience. Real world weather or active sky don't make any sense without this program. You will feel real turbulence of all kinds and even if you are not a real pilot but flew many times as passenger you will notice that the planes behaves like they do in real life, not to mention when you get real bad turbulence and have to use all your skills to keep the plane alive.Just to give an example yesterday I was landing with a Falcon a couple of minutes after a big plane landed and my plane tended to roll ove…

  21. I was looking for a new plane to purchase for fs9, and I had a few questions regarding the latest 1.5 update to Captainsim's 727. There are lots of opinions and reviews on older versions in fs2002, but I wanted to see how the plane is in fs2004. 1) does the flight model have that annoying nose high during cruise and especially during approach which many fs2002 plane conversions have? Most larger commercial jets from fs2002 will pitch up and even stall if you try to approach the outer marker at anything below 200 kts. 2) does the plane take a big framerate hit in fs2004? I have a high end system, so I'm not too worried about it. Thanks in advance for your imput

After several weeks of testing, tweaking etc, I thought I found the perfect combo of slider settings, video drivers, etc, for my machine. :) I have a lower end PC, and every frame per second counts for me.Here is my latest problem :-hmmm I just can't fix with slider settings and would like to ask fellow simmers if they see the same frame hit..It appears anytime I open up another window, my frames drop by about 4 FPS. Take the default B777-300 for example. Sitting on the runway with the default panel, when I open up the radio stack, my frames drop from 18.0 down to 14 frames. If I open the throttle quad, it goes down to 12 frames. What's up with this? Not believi…

  24. But the installation took about three hours last night. If you upgraded to XP from an older MS operating system and didn't set up an NTFS file system, but instead went with the old FAT 38, expect that the program will not install, but will hang up at an agonizing 80% to 90% completion of installation. 1) Download and install all service packs and critical upgrades from Microsoft (this took a long time).2) Convert your drive to NTFS using an XP Config command. All in all, about three hours, though a good 45 minutes of that was spent trying to install the mega scenery, unsuccesfully. And you will have to reinstall your FSD airplanes in both 2002 and 2004 - the conversio…
