I just stumbled across this while running another application along with COF. COF was running in windowed mode and I unmaxed the window by clicking the box in the upper right corner of the title bar and grabbed the corner with the mouse cursor and reduced the window size.As the window became smaller the FPS went up. When the window was about the size of a 3x5 index card I was getting 50 FPS on the west side of Chicago with a GeForce2 MX400.I'm not trying to make light of the FPS problem as I have it more than most and I know this is just because the GPU has to do considerable less work, but it is kind of illustrative of what were up against here.Try it, it's kind of fun.

Hi, jus as a matter of my own curiosity and confirming my ignorance of the internal mechanics of software, why IS the FS.CFG file placed in the windows applicatins folder and not into the root folder of FS9? Cheers!

Hi Guys,What does the terrain mesh complexity slider do visually? Which variables does it change in the fs9.cfg file? What is the difference in setting it between 80 and 100?Thanks,

After installing the TorpicairVirtual Airbus 320-200 today my color really took a hit... It's a self EXE. and the install went well but when I started to take a fly my color had all bled together and looked rather cartoonish... I deleted the aircraft but the damage was done and it did not go back to normal... If anyone knows what cause this problem and how to repair it without a reinstall I would be thankfull... I'm not saying the Airbus caused it as I have not had time to look at my system well yet... But if you can help me I give you many thanks!!!Ron MashburnPrehaps I should have added that this is FS2004 and is the first install I had done in this version....

I posted this earlier, but it didn't show up (not sure if I accidentally hit the wrong button or what) so very sorry if it ends up double posting.I had made a LOD 12 .bgl of the Crater Lake area using 1/3 arcsec data, and even though the TmfViewer shows the resulting .bgl files to be correct and at the proper detail, FS2004 shows it at only LOD 10 resolution. I have the TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL set to 23 too, so that shouldn't be the problem. Any ideas or hints as to what the problem might be?LOD 9:http://members.cox.net/rotareneg/images/LOD9.jpgLOD 10:http://members.cox.net/rotareneg/images/LOD10.jpgLOD 11:http://members.cox.net/rotareneg/images/LOD11.jpgLOD 12:http://me…

Is there a method to de-clutter the APR screen, as there is with the NAV page, via the CLR button (-1, -2, -3) etc. ? I am finding it quite hard to "see" the APR screen details - with other uninvolved waypoints - before I am in the approach proximity - and zoom in manually.Optimally - I'd like to show just the FPL and APR details, on the APR Page. Not sure that can be done ?Ron

Hi Guy's.is anyone else having a hard time with the trim in FS9 or am I the only one, I have to stop the learjet from constantly wanting to climb all the time, and the autopilot even has a hard time making it stay nose-level, all my controls are calibrated and I have the payware version of FSUIPC and again it too is calibrated, I use the Saitek X45 stick and throttle setup as I think they are good value for the money,(I used the X36 before too.) I set the rotary1 as the trim, and yes, I too was caught out again by the Microsofts unusual trim being reversed after setting it to the rotary, you have to go back into assignments again and un-tick the reverse trim,I don't know why…

C210 Owners:Just bought the C210. I'd give it a "B" so far.I find that the instrument refresh rate in the VC is horribly low, making the a/c difficult to fly IFR from the VC.Anyone know how to improve this? Thanks,James

Hi, just wondering if anyone knows about any issues with the PA Airbus strobes lights. I notice the strobebeacon lights do not work on my FS2002 PA aircraft. One issue could be that I am using the A/C in FS2004. The plane flys OK, I'm happy with the performance, so it must be somewhat compatible with COF. It's just the strobes and wing lights that don't appear to be working despite the fact that I have turned on all the lights switches in my cockpit (Roy Chaffin's great FS2002 A330 panel). Any ideas are appreciated.Tom

  11. At 1600x1200x32 in windowed mode, with a high level of detail area like Hong Kong, after you have been flying a bit, could you bring up task manager and check your Page File usage. For a 512MB system it shows from 350-500MB of usage, I'm wondering if adding another 512MB of memory if that drops the page file usage?

Hello.I have a problem with some planes in COF (like Opensky 744) and it is that in some part of the flight the aircraft becomes unpainted (like when the textures are missing or bad configured). It starts ok, all parts pianted, but after a while starts to unpaint (generally happens first with the engines or wings). I heve tried modifiying the display settings, but no luck.I have a GF4 4600 Ti with 45.23 drivers. Thanks,Pedro

  14. Hello I have recently downloaded and tested the latest Weather Maker themes for FS2004.But unlike the Default weather Themes that come built into FS9, WM themes will not let you change the Visabiliy ranges from within FS9, this is most frustrating for people like me with Photo Map scenery or Satalite image based scenery such as Visual Fliught UK VFR, or Mega scenery Packs, because they look much better when the visibility setting is not set to high. Can anyone help? perhaps prove me wrong ....and then tell us how they did itThanksJim

I won't post the pics, but dang there are often situations that look really crappy in this sim vs the last version. Coming into Lake Tahoe this morning there is a complete and total line of demarcation from absolutely crystal clear above 8000 feet to full density haze below with no transition. It looked like a piece of opaque glass is sitting in the mountains above the lake. Very very unrealistic compared to FS2002 handling of similar situations. Is there any hope of a fix for this? Does FSUIPC have any effect on this low lying layer of haze that shows up in mountainous areas frequently?Noel

Hi friends,i bought that wonderful panel last week and now it's coupled with last released v.2 KLM 734.How do you folks managed to manually start the engines in FS2004?Coming from months of DF737 it should just took me a few minutes to get that thing on, but instead???I followed every step on the checklist but N1 increases until reaching 20, i open fuel but engine doesn't start; after that N1 returns to 0.The only way a can get engines on is FS2004 autostart CTRL+E :-erks.If i switch from a default B737 with engines on and cut off fuel cannot start engines anymore.I'm the only one? Thanks for helpingLuigi ;-)

Michael,I had one of those eye-popping, sweaty-shaky-hands, feel-so-alive moments last night. On the recommendation of another AVSIM poster, I downloaded Mustang Landing. I took a short VFR Fair Weather themed flight from ML to Santa Monica by way of Van Nuys airport in the Valmet L-70 Vinka (has no autopilot). Fun little hop and set 'er down around 2:00 pm Pacific. Tweaked the sim a bit and decided to go back with a newly downloaded weather theme by Weather-Maker called Approaching Cold Front. I took back off from Santa Monica, headed up to Van Nuys (all VFR), and took notice of some rather menacing clouds that were forming in and around the mountains around me. I made t…

Hello!I set FS2004 to run under a priority of HIGH in Windows XP Pro today and I am happy to report that I picked up another 5 fps and an increase in smoothness!I have a slightly slower computer (PIII 1GHZ with a Geforce MX 440 card) so every increase in fps counts. My biggest challenge was getting Windows XP shortcut setting correct to force COF to run at a priority of high. After several tries, I finally got the link setup correctly. So for those Windows XP users who havn't tried this yet, or have had problems with the comspec command, I would encourage you to give this procedure a try. It just might pay off. Here is what you need to do:1) Right click on the FS2004 shortcu…

  20. But after about 5 or 10 minutes the sky almost clears, exceptfor a few puffs here and there. This is with one high layer of Strat and one 5/8 lower Cumulus.I have a max rate of change set.I flew for about 3/4 hours and no more great looking cloudbanks formed again.I have only set up the global weather option, not at each station.I would like to see a lot of variation in the weather as I fly.Different cloud types and conditions.Do I need to DL World weather to experience this.I don't want to DL the live every 15 minutes one though.

I had previously a DELL 4100 on which the FS was running O.K. if not well (12 frames/se down to 4 when lot of resources were needed).I have bought a new PC DELL 8300 2.6GHz 800fsb with a 128Mb Radeon 9800 graphics card. Good is it not?Well something strange is going on in this PC.If I start FS2002 I get a frame rate around 32 It seems to keep that value as long I do not add anything else to it. (The plug in sceneries of FSGenesis are installed in the FS.)First scenario: I start FS Real Time only FS and FS Real time active; no other program running except the load of usual stuff like logitech, sound, Norton AV & Firewall (needed for later internet access while flying)…

Hello,Using FS real weather or FSmeteo, when something change in weather or I fly to a new area I can see the weather quickly changing, so some clouds disappears, other clouds just pop-up, the visibility changes fast, etc.Is there a way to get slow transitions, so the weather could change like the real life ? I understand this should be a default feature in FS2004 weather. Thanks,Ulisses

  24. I'm aware of all the problems with FX cards and no 2D panels etc, but I have a Geforce3 Ti200 card running 30.82 Nvida drivers, and every so often the 2D panel flashes on/off. As the panel is flashing, my FPS drop down to about 1fps and you can't even control the aircraft.Yeap like FX owners, AA is on, and I'm in Full screen mode. My question, do other Geforce3 Ti200 owners see this problem, or just me? Thanks in advance....RJ
