The FS9 Virtual cockpits are fun, but I find the digits hard to read, thin and the colors dont stand out at all, especially the white autopilot digits on the 737. Is there a way to improve the readibility of these numbers????Randy Jura, KPDX

Hi all,With all the discussion about what settings are best for MY machine, where to set all the sliders, all the different display cards, what driver to use, fs9.cfg entries, and so on, it occurs to me:Yep, there is no one combination of settings that is best for every PC.BUT -- for any given PC there IS a combination of settings that would cause FS2004 to run at its best on THAT machine. And the lovely irony of it all is, here we all are reduced to exchanging messages back and forth: did that work for you? Yes? I hope it works for me. Oh damn! Anyone else know how? On and on ad nauseum. It seems to me this is basically a mathmatical and programming problem. Compare a lar…

Hi all.I am trying to install the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier scenery from here http://joel.maillot.free.fr/fs2k2_Porte_avions1.html but every time I try to add it, it starts building the scenery index and then FS2002 crashes. If I reload, FS crashes and all i can do is alter the scenery conig file to remove the refernce to the scenery. Im sure im doing everything right, but with the instructions being in french, I may have missed something, even after putting it through a translator.Has anyone seen this error with other scenery, or with this particular scenery. Can anyone offer me help in how to best get this going? I would love to have this carrier working. Thanks…

Probably super secret information, maybe redundant post (sorry). So what hardware is actually used in the design & testing of FS up in MS land ?They must use graphic cards - do they make their own ? Processors ? Is it all proprietary stuff - 2 years ahead of what we have available ?Just curious "what hardware" is actually used to design, develop, and test...... other than beta crew - recognize that is an assortment.Ron

Just a few simple requests to ease the adoption of new addons forFS2004.1.If you make panels...please put the gauges in the same directory as the panel you created. Same goes for complete airplane packages. Thsi saves unwanted gau files in the gauges directory of FS2004. The sim supports this now so hopefully will become standard going forward.Any 3rd party updating their app to FS9 hopefully will do this too. If the user decides to delete the plane or panel, this can be done easily without residue. This especially applies to payware folks who what to use fancy installers.2.If you make Landclass files. Please install to the default scenery directory and No deeper. f…

Hi :) The POSKY 747 Classic is looking a little out-of-date (it's still good, though) .... wouldn't it be great if somebody designed a new 747-100/200!!! :-jumpy .... it would look fantastic in GMAX or FSDS2! :)Anyone else agree? :)(PS. I know there's a payware version available, but my computer can't cope with such a detailed panel .... all I need is a decent visual model! :) )American Airlines Virtualhttp://www.aavirtual.com :)

Well, I am still using FS2002 -- but I recently built an AMD 2400 machine, 512 meg RAM , Geforce4TI4200 , WindowsXP machine specifically to update to FS2004. My trouble now is that it has improved my experience with FS2002 so much (after using a P3/1000 for the past ) that it is almost a new Sim for me. I have read people say that the Fsim series is basically programmed for use by hardware which is absolutely top of the line at the time of release and this experience is proving that to me. I am now thinking that I will purchase FS2004 in 2 years time when I upgrade my hardware again!! :) Barry

If you have a P4 2.6 or higher, I would like to hear from you IF you are finding that FS2004 is running very well. By "well" I mean smooth & fluid, with a high level of detail. I have a PIII 733 and run FS2002 with most sliders about half way. I have the frames locked at 15 and find this acceptable in most cases. I am planning to upgrade to a P4 2.8 or higher so that I can load up 2004 but with all of the negative comments from people with very high end systems I am rethinking this purchase. All comments appreciated.Mark.

I tried to fly the DC3 and noticed that I have no controls. From an outside view I can barley see the ailerons or the elevator move. The rudder seems fine. I checked some other A/C with the same results. I have moved the sensitivity sliders but still no help. Any ideas on this??

You can cut and paste the sections your playing/tweaking with to the front of the file this way you wont have to scroll down all the time and miss it too.Tried this with TERRAIN and SIM sectionsAllen

Is anyone else seeing AI traffic through clouds? If so, is there a fix? In previous version, the AI would be obstructed from view when passing behind a cloud.I am running on nVidia Geforce4 MX440 with detailed clouds.BTW; FSW's FS2002 night lights working good for me in FS9!THX

Three weeks of tweaking with FS9 & my Radeon 9000 PRO and my somewhat feeble attempts to rid the rendering of that sharp, stark line between land & air called the horizon, resulted in a installation of FS9 that was wrought with corrupt info. Crashes back to the desktop too numerous to mention after trying this & that. I applied Geof's video fix and low and behold, I saw more than a 50% increase in FPS rates but the haze I had managed to create, was gone. Not realistic enough for me, no matter that the slide show stutters were gone and the sim ran smooth as silk. I decided to uninstall it all, delete the FS9 folder and start from scratch. After loading, I select…

Well, another try at FS9 tonight. I was flying the PMDG 737-700 from Phoenix to Houston. The flight started out great. The scenery and weather (clouds) at PHX were really great! I thought I was on to something. I had applied all of the tweeks I read here that I could do (don't have WinXP so can't do a lot of them). After two hours I started my decent into Houston. Frame rates were still pretty good although the readings were still {1.4 9.6 14.6} with about a 5/8 cloud cover (nice puffy cumulous)....I was running Radar Contact along with the FS ATC in VFR mode. When I was told to Contact Arrival by RC the problems started. Decending to 6,000 ft my fps went sh*t. …

I just received my copy of the Calif MegaScenery. Awesome package! Very impressed with this product so far. However, I cannot install the program. I near the end of installation on the 2nd disk and an error message comes up as follows:"An error occurred while trying to rename a file in destination directory: Move file failed: Code 82. The Directory or file cannot be created." I then have the choice to abort, retry, or ignore. Ignoring and retrying does not work. Only choice is to abort and the program is deleted. I have 7 gigs of hardspace available so space is not a problem. Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone have a solution? I have sent an e-ma…

users suffer this same problem? I changed my ' video card drivers' and noticed right away..better performace such as more fluid.BANG I got it..but after an hour of flying..things changed..smoothness was gone and the slide show continued. Sh....t! I thought I had it beat.I could at least cross coutry fly into small areas,,but no..the system slowed? What is it CPU? I was sure the drivers helped at first. WOW I loved this sim..but no way stutter city.Do high end users notice this situation after 1/2 hr to 1 hr of flyuing. When I shut dow FS4..it is a long shut down..the processor works..what gives??MS may have not thought about us small end system users???

Having visited GIB in the late 80's early 90's I fell in love with the place. It was truly a unique location, and I loved driving up the rock and dealing with the Rock Apes, and the story about the now defunct water cachements (GIB gets most of it's water now from Reverse Osmosis plants).Pro Pilot 99 was the first Flight Simulator to give GIB any justice (and that was only after installing the 90MEG European Scenery Patch)FS2002 actually put a "rock" on Gib, but the dimensions were all wrong and it was very undersized.FS2004, has now reverted back to Gib being FLAT, (probably a DEM issue).I see a highly detailed GIB being released, and wondered if anyone has used it. It…

Excuse this if it has been covered - my search wasn't helpful.Even at slow speeds, small rudder inputs cause the 310 to zigzag while on the ground, sometimes doing a 180 - opps!
