When I tick T&L on my Radeon 9800 and exterior lights are on (Lear), the reflection is rendered against the fuselage as blinking, red blotches. Any ideas? Thanks,Mark

After resetting my FS9.cfg I again tried my Omaha-St Louis TWA flight. Everything went very well up until I was 19 miles from the end of runway 12L. Then I got the freeze treatment. I let it sit and after about 3-5 minutes and 3 or 4 frames it came out of it and there I was at 2,000 ft and 15 miles from the runway. Climbed up to 2,500 ft and the rest of the landing was normal. For those 3 miles and 3 minutes it was really wierd. My fps meter was stuck at 24.5 but the sound kept running. I actually got a GPWS warning of Terrain! Now, this was with the FFX MD82 TWA and a FS2002 panel. I'm going to try the same flight with the default 737 and see if I get the same pr…

Below is a rather interesting clip from the article "3D Graphics: Quality Matters" on www.extremetech.com.I was pleased to learn that FS2004 will play a part in future benchmarks, and I think that the article will be of interest to those who are considering purchasing a new graphics card for FS2004. Robert---------------------------------------------------------------"Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 Test Results Target Frame Rate: 30fps ATI Radeon 9800 Pro: 31fps @ 800x600x32 with 2X AA and 2X AF 31fps @ 1280x960 with 2X AA and no AF nVidia GeForceFX 5900 Ultra: 30.9fps @ 1600x1200 2X AA/2X AF This is one of our new games which will be a part of our next release of 3D …

Hello.I was wondering how to go about getting a SOLID overcast of the clouds when on top of them, without killing the frame rates? When I lower the visibility for IFR approaches, the clouds seem to be overcast when flying through them and within them. However, when the aircraft gets on top of the cloud layer and above the visibility layer, I can see the ground and the clouds appear scattered.I have my cloud settings at 100% density, but cloud coverage at low to keep the frame rates in check. Are there any tricks to get the overcast layers to be truly overcats, like they are in FS2002?The weather theme's seem to simulate overcast layers sometimes. But I think that the visib…

Hi all! Just picked it up........after I said I wasn't going to right away! LOL! I tried to put some scenery in that uses Gerrish's trees, but the trees aren't showing up. I don't even get the white boxes that we used to get before. They just aren't there. If you got them to work, please tell me where the pieces went that made them work. I have tried every combination (except for the one that probably works!) and no joy. Any ideas??? Thanks!Don

Just upgraded my computer to P4 2.8 FSB800, ASUS P4P800, HyperX 1024Mb PC3200, WD Raptors in SATA RAID-0.Reusing my Radeon 9700 PRO I suddenly get flashing textures in the sky, sort of randomly appearing and disappearing.Tried changing 8x AGP to 4x AGP and disabled fastwrites, but no luck.Anybody knows wath the problem might be?I was thinking maybe I need a bigger power supply.I have a 350W Enermax.Cheers,Haromo

. . . are as effective in FS2004 as in 2002? I very much used the visibility adjusting and a few hot keys, so I'm interested if anything positive has been experienced with FSUIPC as a standalone .dll!?!Noel

Hate to ask a stupid question, but where is the FS9.cfg file located? I did a search and couldn't find it & it isn't in the fs2004 folder. Thanks.Jim

After having moved to Colorado from NY recently and just getting my PPL before the move I've become very interested in mountain flying - at least on a simulator. A great book on this topic is Flying the Mountains by Fletcher Anderson. Aspen has always been my favorite "dangerous" approach but I have some new ones discussed in detail in the book:- Glenwood Springs, CO - I think the most scenic field in MSFS and my vote for default airport for future FS's.- Wilson Bar Airport, ID - canyon flying at its best! You don't want to have to abort this landing unless you have tons of power.- Telluride - an oldy but a goody! Easy to gain altitude fast when you take off over a cliff!…

Tried FS9 again tonight. New 45.23 drivers for my Ti4200. New a/c - FFX MD82 TWA flight OMA-STL.Once more, I can't get closer than 14 miles to any airport before the screen freezes -- I mean 1 frame per MINUTE if that. :-mad :-mad :-mad :-mad (And it isn't heat in my box. I took off the cover for this flight).I thought that maybe the 45.23 driver would help and for most of the flight it seemed to. Throughout the flight I had {1.6 19.6 36.4} or similar frames on the average frame counter. I still had the hesitations for sure but these frames were much higher than before. However comma as I decended below 4,000 ft at just around 14 miles to touchdown, the screen w…

I have never really bothered much with AI as my old machine couldn't cope with them. Now that I have a faster machine , I am starting to set the AI slider higher and intend to start playing around with AFCAD and TTOOLS.BUT -- in the past, I have made my default AI aircraft "flyable" and have also repainted some of them. Have I , in some way, unwittingly ruined them in terms of their impact on FPS? How can I see which A?C the Sim is using as AI?Thanks Barry

Help, I've been trying to get FS9 set-up to go online but when I start SBRelay, I get the following error shown in the messages below.030821 18:33:50 Starting servers...030821 18:33:53 FS2002 server started030821 18:33:56 ERROR 0x80158185 creating 2004 sessionAny clue to what the problem is?I've followed the installation and startup procedures in the readme.txt file. I have fsuipc 3.03 and sbhost 1.0.2.1 dll's installed in the modules directory. I've registered Squawkbox in FSUIPC by cutting/pasting the name and key. I've also copied over the csl files and added the csl entries to fs9.cfg.Thanks for any help. -I'd sure like to get back to flying online!Dave

I was looking at the 737 PMDG and wondering if it is really worth the $40 it is advertised as. I have seen the screenshots and figure it would look great in FS9, but I am really not willing to part with $40. FS9 cost me almost $60 and it came with a lot of new great looking aircraft, scenery for the entire world, wonderful ATC, etc. Why should one aircraft cost 3/4 the cost of the game it was meant to go into? I am basically taking a personal poll to see if this 737 is really worth the sticker price, or if it is just another high priced plane that would not satisfy the pickiest of simmers. I am not slamming this addon at all. It looks beautiful. I do believe that p…

I have registered FSUIPC and calibrated my CH Pro Rudders in it. It's now fairly simple to taxi the aircraft but after takeoff the plane still can feel somewhat sensitive. The inclinometer is rather sensitive to rudder movements. I have heard that FSUIPC is the best way to calibrate rudder pedals. So are they now as good as it can get? Is it practice I need or better calibration?

As a long time flight simmer (from the very first flight sim) I am VERY fussy when it comes to graphics quality and the overall "immersion factor" when it comes to my obsession (ie hobby :-) ).In preparation for FS2004 I specially built a "bees knees" computer including what I thought (from reading FS2002 posts) would be THE best graphics card, an ATI 9800 Pro with 256Mb.I had FS2002 on this machine a few weeks before FS2004 came out and I was super happy with it compared to my earlier machine that had a Geforce 4600 card.Since installing FS2004 I have been going through the normal tweaking frenzy that happens with every new version of flightsim but have been getting incr…

I finally have my setup tweaked to where I am comfortable with everything, and have now started using PAI aircraft. I have disabled all default AI, but since PAI aircraft are commercial only, I have no GA aircraft. Somewhere (can't remember where), I read that GA Trafficmaker would be a good choice to add GA traffic to my sim, but when I looked into it it said that it is for FS2002, and also needs AFCAD (FS2004 version not ready till October). Has anyone out there successfully used GA Trafficmaker in FS2004? If so, is it worth the download? Any bad side effects or bugs due to it being a FS2002 program? Sorry if I rambled on.....:-)
