Hey guys, this is something I found on www.pcaviator.com, which is an AVSIM partner site. This things really worked for me a lot, you should try it, but at your own risk, it's pretty simple. My machine isn't a high end, but I consider it pretty good. Before doing this tweaks, I was getting an average ok 20fps with all sliders max at SEATAC, now with the same settings it runs at 25fps BTW with lots of clouds in the sky.It is made for old machines with FS2002, but I did all the steps, and my new machine WinXP with FS2004 works great!!! Go on, at least give it a try!!! Let us all know here, how are the results. Any questions also post it here. Enjoy fellow simmers...http://w…

Hi All,First of all, if you want to fly some of THE best small aircraft in FS land - try some produced by Bill and Lynn Lyons. I can't say enough about their attention to detail and the overall "feel" of their aircraft. Their VC's are superb. They recently released their previously payware/shareware (whatever) planes and they are fantastic. I previously bought their Ryan and found it to be among the best. It also came with a boat and other surprises.NOW: They just released a new payware/shareware rendition of the Stinson Gull Wing aircraft. It also comes with some custom scenery and another aircraft (don't remember which) and other goodies as well. All this excell…

Have a weird situation here. My PC is set to EST USA/CAN GMT-5, and XP updates the time automatically when DST rolls around.I have FS set to read system time, which is correct for my time zone. When I start FS the opening screen with settings etc shows the correct time based on my system (now 16:57). However as soon as I go to and airport in the eastern time zone, like Miami Fl, the clock in the aircraft is one hour ahead (now 17:57) or one hour more than it should be.Anyone seen this and any idea of what I may be doing wrong?ThanksBill

I've discovered some problems with the ATC in FS2004 and I'm wondering if anyone else can duplicate this. I know of at least two machines that this is happening on and think it's a bug in the sim but I'd like to confirm with a few others.I can duplicate this every time by doing the following...Create an IFR flight plan from KBWC to anywhere. Once at KBWC contact L.A. for clearance. Once this is done any message from L.A. is not heard other than "Read back correct". The actual clearance message is not heard. Even the read back by the pilot is not heard. There are some other instances of almost the same thing happening elsewhere but this one is repeatable every single t…

I cannot get my 777 to taxi properly. When attempting a turn, the rudder moves correctly and the nose wheel turns correctly, the aircraft turns a little in the correct direction, but then goes straight ahead. Differential braking helps a little.Anyone have any insights on this?

I am getting "no where" at the FSNAV forum, so I'm hoping someone here can help out. I am running FS2002 and FSNAV v4.51 in Win98. All has been GREAT...until I ugraded to the latest version of FSUIPC in order to run a newer version of a weather program that was offered (Weather Center). I loaded up FS2002 and all went well (weather program). I then hit F9 to open FSNAV....and....no display. I happened to click on the screen...and there it was! But whenever I went to click on ANYTHING in FSNAV....it disappears! Going back and forth like this just increased the resolution of the map, but I can't change an area, create a flight plan, …

I have tried and tried to get on the SSW forum and have registered but it still won't let me post.I have tried and still can't get the A310 to install into FS2004.The plane will install but when FS9 loads up I get a error for the plane and says it may cause a problem and won't load it.I have the .dll loaded on the config under old modules but still can't get it loaded. Is there anything else I can do? For those of you trying to optimize your systems:Sometimes, you can think you have a problem licked--such as fps slowdowns. Then for some odd reason, it comes back. This post isn't a gripe--just an observation about cloud redraws that may help users avoid chasing gremlins where there aren't any. When you have a nice pretty sky with puffy cumulus, you may be surprised at how well COF performs. I can regularly get 20-30 fps in that scenario, depending on what settings have been enabled for my specific flight (I "pre-flight" the sim, and enable autogen or AI depending on what I'm going to be doing). You may notice (and those with faster systems probably have to set fps to…

Strange, I just tried to start Fs2002 but it crashed with an error message that it was trying to find magdec.bgl in the scenery folder in FS9 which is on my F: drive. It was in the correct place in FS2002, so I just copied it over to FS9 and now FS2002 will run, why should this suddenly happen? I've been running both quite happily since FS9 came out.John

Help..please. Tonight I'm installing a new ATI Radeon 9800 Pro card (128). I'm pulling out an ATI 9700TX (128) card and selling it to one of my friends who's building computer, and asked me to sell him my card.I have a Dell 8250 with 1024RDRAM, and am looking forward to taking a "positive step" by installing the 9800 Pro.Tell me....what do I have to do with FS9 config.? Will the sim just recognize it, or do I have to manually change something since I've been running MSFS on the 9700?Your advice on doing this right is important to me. Please let me know how to do this properly. Stan

Hopefully someone will be able to help me with this one, it is making me crazy. My media player stopped playing some .wav files, so some of the aircraft in my sim no longer have any sound. I have tried re-installing FS2004, and also tried re-installing the Windows Media Player, all to no avail. I can go into the aircraft sound folders, and when I try to play the .wav file, the media player says "sending request for codec", then it gives me an unknown error. Anybody have any ideas? I am getting really frustrated and not sure what to try next!

I have read complaint, after complaint. I even complained a bit when I had my 600Mhz not perform quite the way I wanted to. I suffered a bit of a let down, when I tried to fly the McKinley Tour flight only to find my 2400 Athlon be able to only push single digit frame rates through 4 layers of dense cumulus.(sp?)Then it really hit me. You know, when you have one of those V-8 moments and you pop yourself on the head?Slideritis. I had it. We all have it.Some of my fellow "oldtimers" here have the benefit of perspective, and I must admit I had lost that as well.Every and I mean EVERY single version of Flight Simulator was taxing, to every computuer that was around durin…

With all of the default jets in FS2004 (737, 747, 777) I experiance the following "problem":When I fly on autopilot/autotrottle in a stable flight (e.g. at 5000 ft, 250 knots IAS, no flaps, no wind) the throttles are constantly fluctuating over 20-30% of the throttle range, in a 5-seconds cycle.Altitude is very stable, as set in the AP.And the speed constantly varies within a few knots. This throttle behaviour seems not very realistic. It looks like MS has changed the autothottle control algoritme in FS2004, because in FS2002 this worked perfectly.Does anyone else notice this ?Is there anyway this can be "tweaked" ?Rob
