Hi all,I installed into fs2004 a PAI American Airline and a Southwest Airline carrier package. Since they haven't yet updated their PAI Installer for 2004, I manually installed the aircraft and flight plans. I ran the new TTools de-compiler and compiler. The flights are in the flightplans.txt folder, the aircraft are in the aircraft.txt folder, but I don't see any aircraft at any major airport on the ground, nor in the sky. Not only are the ones I installed not showing up, neither are the default aircraft.I'm at a loss on this one since I had almost every package from PAI installed in 2k2 and had over-crowded skies.Anyone know where I can look for the problem or am I the …

Just discovered Dimitri's fabulous An-26. I am struggling with the non-english cockpit, but could tell IMMEDIATELY that this one was a keeper and a probable classic. Can anybody tell me if it has any FS2004 incompatabilities? Im sufficiently incompetent at flying it due to the cyrillic cockpit that I cant tell myself yet. (just DL yesterday.)ThanksEric

Hello everyone, just two brief questions concerning video and sound cards and FS2004.Currently I'm running my vanilla FS2004 (no non-certified addons or tweaks) on my PIV 2.4B, ASUS P4PE, 1 Gig DDR-RAM PC333, GF4Ti4200 128MB. FPS are in the range between 20 to high 50ies (almost everything maxxed out, 1240x1024res, 4xAF, NO FSAA, 45.23 Det) except for very dense sceneries with lots of clouds when they drop to 12 - 15.Would a GF4Ti4600 128 MB make a huge difference in terms of performance? It's just that I could get my hands on a quite cheap one (and use the old 4200 to upgrade my old computer). But if it doesn't help much I'd save the money...Second - does a PCI-soundcard …

Hello Everyone, I tried transferring across one of the fs2002 Twin Otter files across to fs2004 (dhc-6_requin.zip). It was featured in Bear's tribute to fs2002 series of articles.I can't for the life of me get any gauges to work on it - just a blank bitmap. Having a look at the panel.cfg file, it seems to use just the default gauges. Does anyone know what to do to get the gauges displayed? Below I've shown the top bit of the panel.cfg file that comes with the plane. I had a warning the first time the plane was loaded saying that some gauges may not work. Subsequent reloads of the plane haven't shown this warning. I've deleted the plane, renamed it and reloaded it and …

Hi,Can anybody tell me if it is possible in FS9 to enable OMI marker tones by default, no matter which aircraft or flight you use? I understand that the audible tones can be activated on the radio panel of most aircraft, but I usually forget... :-(Thanks,Dave

My o/s is Win XP Pro. I have Directx version 9.0a. Microsoft is suggesting that I update the Directx to version 9.0b. Is there any appreciable benefit to update to 9.0b; 1. to operating FS9? 2. to operating in XP in general?I usually do not like to fix things that are not broken.Thank you.Stanner

If there could be a tweak for increasing the upper altitudes in visibility, without having to open the weather diakogue each time the white blanket appears, this could be a remedyn to the curtains of white fog that have perfect yet unrealistic edges.Allen

.. it shouldn't be like this,When I start FS2004 first the title screen for EA FIFA 2003 is displayed and after this the correct screen for FS2004 and then FS loads. So no serious problem but it shouldn't be like this and why waste time loading the FIFA title screen. Is there script you could edit?Has anyone else had similar problems?

When I am running FS2004 its seems that at random times I get this message that says FS had a fatal error in g2d.dll and that it has to close. I have the latest drivers for all my hardware. I already tried replacing it from the CD, but it didn't help. Does anyone know what could be causing this problem? My system specs are:AMD Athlon XP2400+ 2.2Ghz512Meg PC2100 RAMShuttle AK35GTR MotherboardNvidia Geforce 4 TI4400

I have been wrestling with this a bit with fs9 here. Its not bad but it is pretty annoying. It affects almost all aspects of the sim. Spot view 2D and VC. VC is a bit better though and I can seem to cause it by paning around in spot view. Here is what I found tonight. I went back to the cfg settings and tried some different combinations for the TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS and the _EXTENDED_RADIUS What I found is that anything above a setting of 0 for both caused some type of stutter. My GPS causes a small frame hit, but not really a stutter(some might think its a stutter, but I dont think it is) What Im talking about is a momentary (.5-1 second) drop in your frames from 25 or…

Have not spent much time with this sim yet - has anyone found any areas of lift? The new weather engine does not apparently model thermals or ridge lift - and the sailplane flights from 2002 are gone.Slew mode the only way to get up?

To anyone using FSMETEO, I have a question: I've been enjoying the latest version (downloading a snapshot, then running offline)and all is running well. I have Dynamic Weather set to 0 (none) to save on cpu cycles. Povided real world weather is conduusive, will I ever get (e.g.) dark clouds on the horizon slowly moving in and turning into a thunderstorm? Or is this just possible using MS whether and Dynamic option? Thanks

I have noticed that most of the gauges when using the VC seem to be much smoother in fs9 than fs8 in as far as the default aircraft are concerned. Im not sure if the methods used for gauge updating have changed from fs8 to fs9 or not. The reason Im asking is it appears that A/C that are ported over directly from fs8 to fs9 do not seem to be as smooth as some of the default AC offered in fs9. I thought that possibly the AC's I have ported are more complex than what is offered in FS9. Anyone have any input or a similar experience??Thanks allBob G

All,I've noticed a consistent apparent bug in FS9, which I've now tested at a few airports in South Florida. Just before touchdown, pretty much as I cross the threshold, a thin white horizontal line flashes across the screen and disappears in a fraction of a second. Happens every time, every runway.I'm running an ATI 9700, but can't imagine this is a video card/driver issue. Anyone else notice this little glitch?Best,Joel

Hello, I'm an occasional Flight Simmer for the last few years, but am getting more into the "cockpit" witht the release of FS9. My question is this: Where do I go to get an actual flight model for FS9 aircraft? For instance, if I want to fly a 727-200, where do I go for the flight model file? How do I know the file I'm downloading contains the modeling, and is not just a 737-300 flight dynamics in a 727's "clothing"?Thanks for your assistance, and look forward to dealing with you folks many times in the future.Eddie

I had followed a couple of posts where the TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS and TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS had been discussed. In one post the TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS was a larger value than theTERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS entry. In another post the opposite was true. Can someone clarify thismuch appreciatedBobG

Hi folks,I'm struggling a little here. I've had several attempts at a cross country flight terminate when FS2004 exhausted my system's virtual memory. It took a while - 30 minutes for one flight, nearly an hour for the re-run.When I look more closely with XP's performance monitor, what I find is that the FS9.exe process was chewing up more and more virtual memory the longer it ran. Around the 20Mb per minute mark. I stopped the next attempt as FS9 grew past 1.2Gb of virtual memory. When I looked even more closely, I discovered that this was only when I was flying with "landclass" scenery imported from FS2002. I discovered this by trial and error - turning off all my…

On several aircraft that I have transferred from FS2002 to FS9 the prop is not visable. Is the prop a part of the Model.mdl or is there a way to correct this. Any suggestions appreciated.

Hi all, I chose to post here because PAI forum was way to slow for the time being. Does anyone know if the planes from PAI have there lights on during push back and their beacons? And during takeoff they turn on the strobe and landing lights just like the default FS9 traffic?ThanksBill

I know, it's a maddeningly general topic, but any feedback would be appreciated. I'm a (relative) newcomer to the organized Fight Simulator community. I've owned (and been happy with) both FS2000 and FS2002, but always hit a brick wall. I completed the basic pilot's training in both (long hiatus caused me to get out of practice) and then discovered Avsim, but was utterly unable to sort out the vast number of files, add ons, and options for the sim. I also lacked any sort of a 'structure' for which to practice my first love, general aviation, past the set lessons on the sim. Flying patterns quickly got tiresome all by themselves, and there were simply too many choices…
