Hi allWell I think I might shock everyone with what I am about to say; I bought FS2004 and installed it on my AMD 700mgz machine, with 256mb ram and a 4mb Nvidia GeForce 2 graphics card, and it runs......... FINE.Though I am not what you would call a dedicated simmer, I am a fussy git, and would not put up with something that was poop. My expectations from FS2004 may be lower than most, I don't know, but to me it runs fine on the default settings.HAND (Have A Nice Day).Brian

Hello,I just wanted to inform everyone that I've released my lens flare mod for FS2004. It replaces the hexagon lens flare (which I thought looked phony) with a new circular flare. It's available at my website (Tim's FS Studio), the URL is below. http://timbo87.home.comcast.net/temp/newglare.jpg

http://timbo87.home.comcast.net/sig/vulc.jpg

| [link:www.alphasim.co.uk]Alpha Sims]
[/table

Hi all,Just wanted to let you know that I sold my ATI 9700TX yesterday, and replaced it with an ATI 9800PRO last night. WHAT A REVELATION! AA and AF at 8x, sliders to the right in Sim, and "smooth flyin' and stutter free performance enjoyed for about 2 hours before calling it a night.I can't wait to go back to it tonight, and check out some airports. The realism was quite astounding with this card. I can absolutely live without new drivers from ATI, but I would welcome them to make the experience even THAT much better.System: Dell 8250- 2.8gig, 1024RDRAM, ATI 9800PRO (128mg), Audigy 2 THX sound.I defrag regularly with PERFECTDISK (A great defrag program) and run ScanDisk…

Strange but true--you get the full gamut of reactions to FS9. I am truly amazed at how fantastic the version runs on my machine. I am running the dreaded Radeon 9700 Pro, which has never caused me the slightest grief, on the dreaded Granite Bay board with alledged AGP8x troubles (it runs fine always on AGP8x on my machine), and FS9 is just plain solid and smooth *almost* wherever--big and little airports, weather, maxed autogen, 38m mesh, the whole shot. M$ must have done all their work on a machine just like this one as it is just plain great. Don't like the ugly water reflections at times, and I can't wait till night lighting is improved, but otherwise I am extremel…

I've been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out why this does not seem to be working for me - hopefully i'm just doing something wrong.I have the "Log Flight Time" option checked in the general settings. The help for this option says it's to enable automatic logging of flight time after a flight has ended. However, when i shut down FS2004, i get a dialog asking me to enter comments for my flight. Okay, seems fine so far, but a little odd that i only get this box when i shut down FS, and not when i end a flight (what happens if i have more than one flight?). However, if i go to view the .LOG file, it doesn't contain any flight log information, just the …

  8. I have really been enjoying FS9 with the exception of a few annoying issues with ATC AND the really bad looking water reflections--in many but not all situations. Is anyone getting anywhere with improving the very uniform and fake looking water reflectios? Also, I attach a pic of the dreaded low lying fog. I can't believe how well this sys is handling this--lucky me! Noel

Find your system below & compare your settings. With all the post about the display settings in FS2004, one would have to read every one before finding the one for his/her system. Maybe it would be easier if those people having acceptable frame rates, no stuttering & no problems list their settings as follows? Then all one would have to do is look down the list till they found a system like theirs or close to it. :-hmmm In the

This may be a trip down memory lane for some of the old timers.I started out with FS4, before GPS was an every day thing. Just moved from Seattle to LA, and was able to find my my way up and down the coast, but LA to Vegas was a challenge, and LA to Phoenex was impossible. I went to a pilot store at John Wayne, asked for help, and the guy in the store and a shopping pilot gave me a half hour of info that was way over my head, a couple of free old charts, and sold me a couple of books on navigation. I also ordered a set of maps from I think Sublogic. Anyone remember those? I could finally plot a course from vor to vor and go anywhere I wanted. With the maps and the ruler …

  12. I now have FS2004 running nearly perfectly at 24fps 95% of the time, like FS2002. It looks stunning, I must admit, like real life. But it's been a tougher haul getting here and I am still antsy about the inability to undock items in full screen mode (without going through contortions that have been kindly posted on the forum). And there are still some glitchy things switching screens and menus in FS2004.I am just climbing out of SeaTac in Fs2002 in the default Cessna, with 6/8 cumulus and all effects on, and y'know what? I ask myself, why have I been struggling so much with Fs2004 when I have a beautiful sim like this already? I have my PSS fleet, the Milton Shuper D…

  14. Hi everyone.. I'm just getting back into MSFS and am really excited about it. I have FS2002 and just got FS2004. I wanted to know what addons you guys would recommend to me. I don't mind paying for a product as long as its top notch quality. I'm actually looking for a package for like an MD-83, 737, or similar aircraft that has everything in it like a real pilot would do. When I sit down at my computer I want to go through all the motions that a real pilot would when they fire up the aircraft from being in a cold/off state. I'd like a package that had all the docs that would teach this stuff to me so I can learn how to use it. :-)I also wanted to know what other a…

Whenever I go to the window mode (alt-enter), I get an error that says "This adapter cannot render 3D graphics in this windowed mode. Changing desktop settings may enable it to do so." I click ok and it goes to window mode but when I try to go back to full screen, I get just a large black square which is as far as it goes. I have to close and restart FS9. I don't have this problem in FS2002 which is still installed on my system. I'm using a GeForce4 Ti 4200 with 1024X768X32 resolution. Don't know what to change to fix this. Any ideas.Jim

  24. Hi Folks,I just installed the FS2002 version of Mustang Landing (California) in FS9 with good results. I also installed a FS2000 version of terrain mesh for California which also works good. I bring this to your attention as the author of Mustang, Michael Carr, has done a fantastic job of recreating an airfield which is populated by lots of classic aircraft and vintage hangars and much more. You'll find numerious P-51s, bi-planes and classic aircraft parked in various spots among numerious buildings. There's even a colorfull balloon located near the "Vintage Hangar" start. Now: Combine Michael's excellent airfield with Lynn and Bill Lyons's excellent classic aircraf…
