Can anyone tell me what this CD looks like. I seem to have lost it im my million odd CD's and need the silly Sidewinder Software V.4 for a reload. Paper slide vs Plastic, etc.I have my old Sidewinder PP CD, but it is v.3 and will not install. Microsoft in their infinite choice to annoy people does not post the drivers online.Edit:Disregard, pulled out the manual and the twits stuck the CD inside the manual cover. No wonder I couldn't find it, I'd never look inside a manual for a CD!

I have successfully used FS2002 for the past 2 years with a P3/1000 and a Creative Vibra128 soundcard. Recently I built an AMD XP2400 with everything upgraded including video card -- except I purchased another identical soundcard. Well, I say identical at least in name -- the card looked a lot diferent to me.This computer is much better for FS2002 -- much smooother, much better FPS , etc. EXCEPT -- every flight after some time - the sound suddenly distorts and I get the famous " FPS changes with sound on/off problem". Now what I can't understand is this -- if the soundcard is an elcheapo one and no good - of if some setting like sound acceleration is incorrect-- why doe…

My new 9800Pro card came with current drivers for that card, and it seems to work quite well. Is there any advantage to installing the Omega Drivers for this card? I downloaded them already and they're sitting in a folder waiting for me to install. But, should I follow the philosophy of..."If it aint broke....", or should I go for it? I'm not into overclocking, if that's the only advantage of the Omegas. Thanks, Stan

When I used to live in the Bay Area, I'd drive over to an airport called Schellville, south of Sonoma. I've also flown into it a couple of times, as weekends my buddy and I would often rent a 182 and visit the airports within 10-50NM of APC. Schellville was the first place I saw an Tri-pacer "up close and personal". Brian has a knack for bringing these early GA aircraft to life (many of which are still flying today). Take a look at the file library, download it and seat yourself in the cockpit. I think I can detect a faint musty odor....Thanks Brian for such wonderful work. I'll be posting some tribute shots shortly in the screenshots forum....-JohnP.S. The goocham…

Well, After alot of tweaking, I can finally fly this guy. Had an xp1600 and was having some troubles. Tried a new 9600 pro video card to no avail. Sent the card back. Then replaced motherboard and purchased an xp2400. This was it. If you have a decent video card, I highly recommend a processor upgrade first. It has really helped me. Now it's time to fly. Todd

I'm going to buy a new computer and I have a choice of graphics cards, either the Nvidia FX 5200 or the ATI 9800, what is the difference between the two? Which one is better? Which one would give me the most FPS in FS2004?Thank you

Greetings fellow tweak obsessed simmers :-)This is not my discovery and have I forgotten who posted this fix but my thanks to whoever it was.If your monitor supports above 1600x1200 at a decent referesh rate then try setting your display above this resolution. I have just tried this and no more flashing menus, corrupted text etc etc on my ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256Mb.I have a Sony 21" Monitor and currently running 1792x1344x32 at 90Hz.I am using the Omega 2.4.74 drivers (based on the latest ATI 3.6 drivers) and it looks georgeous! I am also running 4x AA, but could get away with 2x at this res ( but I just love having ABSOULUTELY no jaggies when I pan and look out along the…

Folks, when you email an author, why don't you include something positive, instead of peppering your emails with snide and sarcastic remarks. You can bet my response to this jerk couldn't be repeated here:>Subject: Microlight>Date: Sat, 23 Aug 2003 06:50:28 EDT>>Thanks for a great plane that has a max altitude of around>27000 ft. >However, since 12000 is "no oxygen" max (I think),>I had to come down and "play" closer to the ground.>Thanks also for AP function, but does need >that "use_no_default_bank=1" in the AP section >for best operation.. Well done!

I've downloaded SortSceneries from Robert Vermeulen. He describes that AI aircraft can be placed and ordened in folders in geografical order.I always thougt that ALL aircraft must be placed in the default AIRCRAFT folder from FS9.Isn't that so ??And how do I configure this when I put AI aircraft in different folders ??Thanks a lot,Tricky,Netherlands.

I usually do not becase I find ATC stupid sometimes, like turning me to pointless headings. I also dont understand if I should descent through ATC instruction or let the FMC do its job.

Hi, anyone having the same problem as I..I start a simple flight out of CYZA and turn on ATC...there is a Piper in front of me that gets clearence to taxi to hold position so I follow behind him..He taxis to the position and just sits there and waits...then finnaly dissapears? Is there a certain way one has to turn on ATC? Has anyone else followed behind a plane that has just sat there not comunicating with ATC? Any help would be mucho appreciated..CheersPhil

Hi:I was looking through the flight sim library and happened across a couple of "re-paints" for the Mooney. Each one showed the Mooney, on the ground, engine off, with the cockpit door open. Since I'm guessing that these re-paints are based on the FS 2004 default Mooney, I wondered if there was a key stroke that opened the door. I can find no reference to it in any of the sparse documentation that accompanied FS 2004. (and that includes the Manual on the CD disc.) Maybe I was looking in the wrong place. I dunno.I've nearly 21 States completed on my 48 contiguous States tour now, (with the Mooney) and have noted several FS 2004 "things". Among them was ATC's South Bend Dep…

FolksI know that this topic has been discussed 100 times before. But I want to warn everbody out there who has intentions to upgrade to a Geoforce FX card.Like most FS2004 users, I was fighting against bad frame rates for weeks - tried all workarounds, patches, priority settings etc.But I was never really 100 % satitsfied with the results.I want max settings with acceptable frame rates.Last night, I decided to buy a new graphics card - after reading a few reviews and because I'm a NVIDIA fan, I thought that a FX 5800 Ultra should be good enough to bring FS 2004 alive. But after installation, I couldn't really believe my eyes:With PMDG 737 NG, real world weather, 3 cloud lay…

Hi FellowsI'm just wondering if the high altittute in FS9 can be changed to pitch black as it is in real life? I can see MS has improved on the environment a little bit in FS9 compare to FS2000 & FS2002, but I think MS only came close only in FS98 for this aspect. For me I think it's un-realistic flying at FL330-FL390 at night and still can see the ground somehow and highlight sky around you. X-plane also did well in this aspect as well, so anything that can be done to look realistic Chris or anyboby feel free to weigh in for me. thanks

Hello all,Was playing with 2004 today, nothing special, and all of a sudden, the fps's went to 1 . . . from 17-20, to 1. It was like a slide show.Couldn't figure it out, thought my graphics card had finally bit the dust, (its overclocked a tad, ya know), but no, fired up 2002 and it ran just fine. Hmmmm.Ok, uninstalled fs2004, defraged the drive, and reinstalled. Right back up to where it was suppose to be, even perhaps a tad better.Everything is ok now, but curious as to what went wrong? And tried to fire it up several times even with lowesst settings before I uninstalled, same problem.Any ideas?Best to allClayton T. DopkeMajor, USAF (retired)"Drac"
