Hi all I have only had FS9 for a couple of weeks and still have FS2002 on my computer on a seperate drive, and I have noticed a strange thing with the system resources, after running FS2002 for a few hours I can exit and check the systems resources and they will be at 95 percent, but after running FS9 for the same amount of time it slows down and when I exit, the system resources are at 89 percent and I have to reboot to get them back to 95 percent can any one cast any light on why FS9 is not giving back the mem after it finishes also is this what causes it to start slowing down after running for a while. My specs are AMD2.2+ athalon cpu with 512 meg of fast ram geforce2…

There has been a lot of FS9 bashing going on lately, and while people are quick to jump on the band wagon and blame the application, the truth is, it does not take a 4 Gig overclocked to 6 Gig computer with 512 Meg video card, and the initials H.A.L.It does however require a reasonable system to make it happy.I WAS using a Celeron 600Mhz machine with an MX420 Nividia PCI card when I first cracked open the Tin. Needless to say, I was dissapointed. With that rig, I could maintain 15FPS smooth flight in most FS2002 scenarios, but had a hard time getting above 10. I was due for an upgrade anyway, so I pulled the trigger.I purchased a modest Compaq Presario XP2400+ Athlon b…

Can somebody please address this problem: clearly, the autogen rendering in FS2004 vs. FS2002 is causing significant problems, especially after flying the sim for a period of 5-10 minutes.Perform any flight, preferably in an urban area, then note the FPS upon landing (either on approach, or as you're sitting on the ground pointed toward autogen buildings). Now, reset the autogen by going into the settings and flick the slider down a notch and then back to the original setting. Voila, now your frame rate is anywhere from 5-15 fps higher, although visually, the density of buildings hasn't changed.Again, it's not the autogen itself that is killing frame rates. It's what happ…

HOLY COW! I am finding it hard to believe that a video card can make such a huge difference! I am still cautiously taking my first steps with tweaking and flying as I installed this card last night. I took great care in making sure my system was clean before putting the card in and firing it up. MY STUTTERS ARE GONE! For the most part there is still very slight frame rate issues with the normal things like clouds/wx/etc, but my sim is running rock steady up around 25fps now with 1280x1024x32bit and 2X FSAA and 8X Aniso. Its really rather remarkable. While the GF4 is a good card, mine being a lowly 4200 just could not push the pixels to do any meaningful AA. It ran great …

In FS 2002 there was an aircraft carrier anchored off Hickman Field,Pearl Harbor, Hwaii. This carrier is not there in FS9. Does anyone have the coordinates of aircraft carriers and other Easter Eggs in FS9?Thank you.Stanner

This is a common question with most people involving FS9. And in most cases, my answer is Both. Many people seem to run under the false assumption that Buying a Top End of one component will magically compensate for the weaker component.First, it takes some skill to determine what exactly is the bottleneck in your system, and worse, it's almost impossible to figure out what the next bottleneck is. As a result, you can replace one component, with a top of the line model, only to find a very small increase in performance, due to the next component being the bottleneck. With the low prices today in Memory, CPU's, MB's, and Video Cards, it is almost ALWAYS wiser to give EVERY…

Just got this new card and I am wondering, if I have updated 45.23 drivers already installed for my PNY Verto GeForce 2 MX400, do I need to remove them before installing the new card, or can I just just install the card? Still have Win98SE OS, plenty of RAM.Thanks In Advance, http://southwest.corpmerchandise.com/image...l/200015138.gifAlex ChristoffN562ZBaltimore, MD

I am wondering how FS resolves overlapping mesh BGL's at the same LOD. For instance, I have several 38.2m (LOD 10) mesh files from Orlando Sotomayor, but I think some of his mesh files may partially overlap with FSGenesis mesh files I currently have installed. When this occurs, how does FS resolve the collision? Which will take precedence? Is it by layer? What if the BGL's are being loaded as part of the same layer? Will one mesh completely exclude the other, or will the area of overlap be the only affected region? Thanks, J

I need some help with FS2004 to understand The Flying Tip that reads," Your engine is losing power because the mixture is not leaned correctly. To complete this action, press: CTRL = X."I know how to lean an engine and think I am doing so but that tip keeps popping up. I need to know what the parameters are that cause it because as I said I think I know how to lean an engine. Likewise what does CTRL = X do to solve the leaning problem or as the tip reads - to complete this action? I also wonder what," to complete this action," means. I've searched in the forum but found nothing so far. I would appreciate Someone out there giving me an answer. I hope it has not…

I would like to ask you about the best DC10 panel (in your opinion/experience)which is compatible with FS2004 .Until now, I have been using V. Leightower panel, which was one of my preferred FS addons. But, since is a FS2000 version and there are great designers which have made beautiful DC10 panels for FS2002, I suppose it is time for renewal!!!Thanks in advance.Regards.

I now have a two axis CH Products Flightstick Pro. I want a three axis joystick and am considering the CH Products Flightstick Pro USB or the Fighterstick USB. I have had no problems with my present CH joystick and want to stick with that brand. Anyone having good or bad experiences with these joystick with FS2004 please respond. How's the software when used with XP Pro? Thanks, regards, Bob.

I downloaded Barry Blaisdell's great Challenger into my FS2004, but it has no landing gear. I contacted Barry, and he told me he has no problems with it, and sent me a new AIR file to try, but it didn't help. I then deleted the plane from my FS 2004 Aircraft for the time being, but now, when I go into my FS 2004, I get an error message: "Aircraft Initialization failure CC-144 Challenger Canadian Forces" and it shuts down my FS. So I have to reinstall the CC-144 just to be able to fly. Any advice would be appreciated.

  20. I was happy to see the new weather system in FS2004, which can update the weather depending on the real weather, based on Jeppesen information.I live in Paris, and I was flying from LFPG to LFPO (the 2 international airports around Paris). The real weather was very nice, sunny, blue sky with some little clouds. But in FS2004, there was fog, very low clouds, poor visibility. This is not what I call real weather...Have you ever experienced the same?Eric

Hi.I'm experiencing some very odd framerate problems, and after doing a search, it appears I'm not the only one. In fact, it's so widespread that I think it may be a bug in FS2004.Try this experiment and see what you get, it doesn't take long:First, set your display settings like this:Everything at max detail, including autogen. Set resolution and FSAA/AF settings to what you usually play the sim at. Set target framerate to unlimited.AI aircraft density should also be at full.1. Start a flight from Portland-Troutdale (KTTD). Default 172 Skyhawk, Summer, Day, Fair Weather theme.Start on runway 07. When the flight starts, switch to 2D panel view, then press W twice (to remo…

I have the FFX 737-800 Virgin Blue plane and I would like the add winglets to it.1. Where do I find the file that has the winglets? I had the file before but deleted it and I don't remember the file name. I looked here and can't find it.2. I know the winglet package will not have Virgin Blue textures, so does anyone know where I can find Virgin Blue textures to put on the winglets?

Has anybody noticed and been able to solve the crash to desktop problem with the excellent PF100 in FS9? I applied the panel update and everything works quite well except for the random crash issue. Sometimes I can get a whole flight in before it does it, other times it'll do it just panning around in spot view on the tarmac. Can anybody help? I miss my PF 100!
