I'm flying fs9 for 5 weeks now and i must say, I LOVE IT! There's only one thing that i can't understand. Hopefully someone can help me. After about 1 our of flying my framerate suddenly drops from a steady 24 to 14 or less!? When i save the flight en startup again i'm getting a steady 24 again. How is this possible, and more important, what can u do about it?My system:P4 1700512 MBGeforce FX 5600 ultraWindows 98Thanks!

In reality, during the landing and takeoff, does the wheels of the airplane have any motion? How many times does the wheels need to change after the landing and take off?

Where do I buy this California scenery that is supposed to be so spectaular...and doesn't affect frame rates? If you have it, I'd like to hear your opinions on it. Stan

Ran some final tests with FS9 tonight just to benchmark where I am with my Windows 98Se set up. FS9 FAILED terribly. Read on. My test PC is: P4 2.4Ghz 533Mhz FSB w/ 512 Mb DDR333 Ram 80Ghz 7200 Rpm FAT32 HD MSI GeForce4 Ti 4200 w/ 8X AGP Windows 98Se Soundblaster Live! I defragged my PC last night. I ran a virus scan last night. I made sure my virus scan was inactive prior to these tests. My test proceedure was as follows: 1) All background programs were closed. System set to run only Systray and Explorer. 2) Anti Aliasing on video card to OFF 3) Anisotropic Filtering on video card to OFF Start FS9 and set up default 737-400 at…

I have searched around and although I have found some close problems I'm hoping someone can help. I'm a hardware geek not a software guru so I'm at my wits end. :(Just found enough time to install ACOF on my new machine. I am currently running a new ABIT IC-7G MB. 3.2 Ghz P4C w 1 Gig of OCZ PC3500 and a 9800Pro 256.Now the problem. When I go to the settings tab I get very rapid full screen flickers as well as menu overlaying. In other words I see the same window, 5-6 times overlayed and offset from each other. This only happens on the menu screens. I also get the flickering when starting the Sim and when exiting out.I have updated all drivers/chipset drivers and have also…

Just finished watching the Discovery Wings channel program on Flight Sim. The last 20 minutes showed a side by side comparison between FS2004 and CAE's full motion commerical flight simulators. When you look at FS2004 compared to CAE's multi million dollar commercial sim that uses the computing power of 500 P4's in series you realize what a great job MS has done given the the economic and technical constraints they operate under. In the interviews with the MS team you quickly realize the commitment and dedication of the team as well as the significant efforts that went into making FS2004 the most detailed sim yet....I certainly saw no underlying effort to give the user…

Hi:I was making a routine landing at Oklahoma City's Wily Post airport. A thunderstorm had developed between the time I took off from my home airport in Nebraska and by the time of my arrival at Wily Post airport. On final, I was nearly blinded; or so it seemed, by a very close flash of lightning. After safely landing, I did the Intant replay thing and viewed the aircraft from outside the aircraft, (something I never do) and saw how close my sim Mooney had come to being struck. Anyhow, I got to thinking. Has anybody flying FS 2004 ever been struck by sim-lightning? Or did MS rule out that possibility?Just curious.Regards,Don S

  12. Finally, have most of my problems with FS2004 worked out. I have owned a copy of every MSFS since the old "Sublogic" days flying with the keyboard on my 8088 processor. Had a "Really Cool" color monitor that diplayed Red, Blue, White and Black....... We have come a long way. This latest version is the best yet. Love the performance on my now midrange computer with one exception. I only get about 33 percent of the FPS That I got in FS2000 with both stock and 3rd party panels. I know this has been covered by others, but trying to come up with a better way to fly all my add-on aircraft. I can't get much above 5-6 FPS with any of the great 3rd party panels I used in FS2000 wi…

I have been flying "aimlessly" around different airports for quite some time now and am looking for some purpose to fulfill with FS2004. I have decided to attempt an around the world trip in either the Skyhawk or the Baron. Is there anyone who can provide some good resources for planning a trip around the world? Are there any good web site resources or flight planning tools that would aid in choosing an acceptable flight path? Any help or direction that can be provided would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!Dave

Are there any options for FS2004 to save your flight situations automatically at certain timed intervals. For when I blow a landing and want to do-over. I think there was a utility for previous versions. Can't remember what the name was ?SteveCYYZ

most game ware companies would not release a product in this condition. Ther must be a patch coming. As you know many top end users are not getting 'exactly' what they want and the idea of getting bigga hardware is no guareentee.Oh, some P4 2.5 , 3 giger's are happy, but from what I read, not all. And you have the p3er's stating they are happy , sheesh, must be a beta testers with a patch.Tweakin is not a way of havin fun.The odd time I got "fluid" , it was great. Nice sim, but for the most partmost companies would not let a product that behaves as this one does, on the market. So, will it take a patch?MB

Hi there, I'm working on a Trans-Hypersonic Passenger Aircraft. It is based on the Concorde .air file loosely, However, my aircraft accelerates nicely to well over Mach 4 @ 75k - 80k feet, in fact with the winds in favour, I have 'once' seen her hit Mach 5.03 !!!!! superb! (she can reach London UK to New Zealand in UNDER 5 hrs!!!) The engines are nicely tuned, so there is never any over speeding. & the aircraft is lovely & stable at ALL speeds. The problem is ....I seem to hit a 'wall' when my 'GROUND SPEED' reaches 2666kts.(Sometimes a few kts over, but never under.) - Irrespective of what my Mach & Airspeed are...(even when I reached 5.03, the groundspeed wa…

  18. Hi everyone.. I like everyone else has been sitting in FS2004 trying my hardest to get it to perform the best that it can. Now I have to ask the question. What is an acceptable framerate? This morning there are quite a few clouds in the Seattle area. So I downloaded the real world weather data and when I sit on the runway at Seatac, I only get around 14-17 fps. Now mind you I'm not even moving. I know once I take off and make a turn its going to chug down a bit. So what is a minimum framerate that we should be striving for? My system specs are below. I would think that with a system like below I have below that I'd be able to get something better than 14-17fps w…

Does anyone know how to get rid of the visibility line line that appears just above the aircraft when you use the customized settings?I have tried just about everything and even though the base of the layer is 0, there is always this clear layer just below where the visibility reduces. I have attached a screen shot to show what I mean.BTW, this does not happen if you adjust the vis when using weather themes.Colin

With FS9 it seems to me aircraft have way too much contrast, particularly when the sun is hitting them. Of course you can cut down contrast on the whole sim, but then other areas get a bit washed out. Exterior views of aircraft looked much nicer to me with FS2004 with re to this contrast issue. Seems high quality is worse than medium. Noel

  24. I am living proof that, "If it ain't broken, don't fix it".I have been happily flying around in my FS 2004 sim for just about a month now. I've visited here often, reading problems, solutions, tips and tricks. For some reason, I got it into my head that I had to change the resolution of FS 2004.First: I have Pentium 4 - 2.8Ghz1024MB SDRAM128MB ATI Radeon 9800G PRO160GB HarddriveWindows XP Home19 inch monitor (Not flat screen)So, while in FS I went to the Settings option and changed the resolution from whatever default is for FS 2004, to ????1024 x 768??? ( I'm not all that computer smart) and FS 2004 ran fine."Wait a minute", says I. "I am running in Windows mode. I want …

Well, my testing and tweeking continued today. I purchased a 256 Mb stick of DDR333 to go with my 512 Mb stick. With the tweeks required in the system.ini file for having 768Mb of RAM the install went well. So, off to try FS9 with more RAM! ;( Unfortunately, I am right where I left off with stutters on take off. Now, this is with real-world weather enabled. So, I try the default 737 with clear skies and now wind. It worked perfectly. No stutters, no pauses, just great! Now, add the clouds and ... Pause, run, pause, run, pause, etc. The clouds are tearing me up. I have 40 mile vis 60 mile cloud range and 70% 3D clouds. I guess that if I want to fly with FS9 I…
