hi allany way of getting rid of the layer of ground fog that real weather seems to produce..i dont think its fog as such... more of a LOW cloud layer.looks very unrealistic.always seems to be at the same height.soon as i go throught 2000ft ,i look down through this sort of murky layer, and i can still see the ground!!!now it could be me,could be the way FS2004 reproduces FOG...it just dont look like FOG.. any ideas thanks steve

Does the A-340 handle like a 777 or 747 or is it smooth like the smaller airbus planes? I'm looking for a powerful big airliner add-on and I can't decide between an airbus a-330, a-340, 747. Help! I enjoy short-medium flights but landing a 747 is just too hard most of the time. Does the a340 land good?

...or must it work in download mode only. I would like to have a way of knowing winds aloft using MSCOF download 'static' weather. Also, it appears to have a working weather radar. I actually like FSCOF weather and would rather not get into a weather utility at this time...at least until say ActiveSky for FS1004 is released. Thanks in advance, Adam

Does anybody know how to make flight sim start up with the default flight when the computer boots up? I put the flight sim icon from the desktop in the startup menu & that starts up the sim with the select flight screen. I want the sim to startup on boot up with the default flight ready to go.Thanks,Jim

Hi, I have just come across a problem with FS9. In the past when I crashed on landing the sim would just take me back to the spot where the crash occurred without closing down. I also use "Autosave" and I could just click on "Flights" and click on the saved file and I would be back to where I wanted to be. Now, the sim will not take me back to the "crash" point at all and I get booted to my desktop and FS9 just restarts. Is there a setting I may have inadvertenly unactivated or activated that may be causing this (eg. realism crash settings)? Thanks,Tom

Maybe I'm missing something. If you download winds aloft using FS real world weather, how can you see the data before you plan your cruise altitude? There must be a way to see the wind speed and direction. Thanks,Adam

A number of recent threads have caused me to consider freeware more seriously. I am not against payware per se, but there are issues now coming to my attention that are starting to give me considerable concern :->>Developers can deny continued use of their products at any time by refusing a registration key and do not have to give any reason.>>Registration keys and installations can be restricted to a maximum number of uses for all time, which practice can be legally very questionable.>>Products that previously had a lifetime key can now be restricted if you need to upgrade across FS versions.>>Refunds can be denied absolutely which, again, is leg…

Can any one help me out on this question? I had to reboot my computer last weekend and now am in the process of reloading all my simulators. What I'm stumped on is two gauges for the panel that I want to use for the B-52 Stratofortress. When I start my Flight and pick the B-52 I keep getting eight error messages each for two gauges, RP727.Gau and DC8sw.gau saying these are third party files do you want to continue? I think at one time I had a file that installed the old modules for old files but I can't find it anymore. I went into the FS2002.cfg And entered a section called ols modules but I'm not exactly sure how to enter the information. Should I type in RP727.gau.dll=…

  10. Cannot adjust course selection with FSUIPC active with the Dreamfleet 737/FFX merge. Works fine on other aircraft. With FSUIPC disabled or removed from the modules folder, as per the instructions, adjustment is possible in 10 degree increments.I understand that this is normal operation with an unregistered version, but mine is registered. With FS9 up and running, my Modules>FSUIPC>About window reads "Version FSUIPC Version 3.125 18th November 2003 This is a Registered copy! Thank you!" on the left side of the window. The right side reads: "Registration This FSUIPC is registered to Roger Hodges [email protected]"I have tried various older versions of FSUIPC with …

All other fuction work fine but the Throttle only works as Full open or Full closed. There are no middle settings. I have tried recalabrating it but this did not help.Does anyone have a solution for me.RegardsMike

    1) I have a question that no one seems to be able to answer in the FS2004.com forums. On Nav. Lights, Strobes, and Beacons I got a bunch of mixed answers. When do you put these on? Nav Lights: My understanding was that these were on all the time no matter what. Someone at FS2004 said you only use these during the night. Strobes: I thought these were for night and fog conditions. Someone at FS2004 said Strobes are on all the time day and night and are switched on before takeoff and switched off after landing. Beacon: These are on any time the engines are running. Landing Lights: Obviously during landings...are these used for takeoffs too or the taxi ones instead? Taxi Ligh…

We as a community are killing our own hobby. Our insatiable demand for every increasing complexity of simulated aircraft and the resulting performance problems that result are the cause. There is a school of thought that actually believes we can simulate it all, the entire aircraft...for $20. I suppose it is understandable considering that somehow 767PIC worked (probably as much luck as genius) and we were led to believe it was the beginning of better things to come. Every complex release since has had its problems and we are merciless with the developers. But don't blame them, blame us. Most of us have never flown a real plane, but many (not all) come off as if the…

I cannot reach support or customer service at Captain Sim to ask about this whole 2 computer install policy. Can someone point me in the right direction? I just want to ask them about this issue because I want to buy the 727 but I won't pay full price if I upgrade my computer twice before I finish using the program and I can't use it any more. Are all ofyou 727 jocks comfortable with this? I hope I am misunderstanding this policy of theirs.

Hi I have no flying experience what so ever. I know what a plane looks like but not how they fly. I enjoy trying to fly about in the 737's. I have models by Ariane, models by FFX and of course the default one. Now to me thay all fly the same i think, But can some one tell me what is the closest to the real thing. If you handed me a cfg file from a 747 or any other jet and put into the 737 and told me that fly's exactly as a 737 should, i would have to take your word for it. So is there any real 737 pilots out there that can tell what is the closest to the real thing. Thanks in advance Sh…

Hey all Since I suffered a HDD crash 2 weeks ago I lost everything, spent almost 2 weeks tweaking FS almost non-stop in every free hour I got..Anyways , yesterday I had some time to fly for the first time in two weeks..So I got the Bremen EDDW scenery from Oliver Pabst from the library which btw does not seem to work in 2004...or atleast it makes FS crash. It has auto-docking jetways , just as his PMI scenery but .. "why isn't the feature of auto-docking jetways used more often in sceneries?" It is such a great thing to see the jetway connect to your aircraft's door..:-hahAnyone with an explanation for this..:-hmmm :-waveshocky :-hah"You talk so much , but you say so litt…

Hi all !Just wondering what your preferences are concerning traditional monitors (cathodic tube) vs. flat panel LCD monitors.I currently have a traditional 19" monitor but am thinking about a major system upgrade. Should I get a new monitor as well (probably a 20" LCD) or are the visuals better on a traditional screen.Of course, flat panels have a great advantage in that they are less bulky. But is the image as good ?Interested to hear your experience...Good landings to all,L

So how do the real-life pilots here handle it? I got my private certificate three years ago, then after a year of sporadic flying quit for nearly two years at 95 hours total time (42 PIC). I'm currently getting back into it, and flew 4 hrs of dual in October to get signed off for the flight review, but felt my landings were not yet back to an acceptable level of quality. Poor weather and a cold kept me on the ground for another month, by which point I had so little confidence in my ability to land safely that I scheduled more dual flying with another instructor. First two times out my landings just plain sucked. Pretty good crosswinds were only making things more diff…

Hi guys, for 3 days I was searching for the reason why FS9 suddenly crashes whenever I departed from RW 08R PHNL to the east. Whenever I reached those skyscrapers the sim had a CTD. I reinstalled LAGO's scenery 20 times, lowered the FSB, deleted the scenery.dat, FS9.cfg...who knows what else. I was very surprised when I finally learned the the reason was that I moved my FS2002 Scenery Pack landclass file from an add-on folder to Scenery/base. It is a proven fact and 100% reproducable. with the LC file in that folder the sim crashes. Without it, or in a different folder all is well.Does anybody know where the problem lies? I thought these LC files were universal. I never ha…

Well, my virtual memory anyway. For some time now, I've been getting weird freezes where FS9 or sometimes other software hangs - not always terminally, but for several minutes - with CPU utilization having shot to 100% and stayed there.I have a Compaq 1.8GHZ, 512MB RAM, Windows XP Home updated, Nvidia 52.16 drivers running two GeForce 2 MX cards (yeah, I know, but we're not all as rich as you lot). This is the picture when I do the three finger tango:http://www.paxship.com/slug.jpgOccasionally, I get an error message saying my system is low on virtual memory. When the system hangs as shown, the fan winds up as though it's trying to cool down a hot motherboard but a) I ha…

  25. Hey fellow flight simmers, I downloaded the Shakey jake, I love it, a friend of mine flies a Cessna 195, just wondering why only like three of the gauges show up in the Virtual cockpit, and none on the 2d panel. I even re-downloaded it, still no go.. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks for the help, also, does the New AT-6 have a Virtual cockpit? Ha, ok, now I'm done, Ty89m
