I'm looking ofr good scenery for fs9 that's freeware :) If I paid for everything that I wanted, I'd go broke.Stuff I seek:KBOS(in developement- to be on my HDD by Christmas. I'm going to post this over here because I haven't gotten a response over at the panel & aircraft forum.I installed this 3rd party panel for the new 717 model out here, and when I run the sim, I'm not getting the far left quadrant with my artificial horizon & airspeed indicators. I'm also missing a couple of the switches along the top of the screen.I haven't made any modifications to the panel .cfg file & I installed everything where it should have gone.Any ideas?Scotthttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/51377.jpg

Out of curiosity I happened to check the size of my FlightSim folder....and I was amazed....almost 10gig. The aircraft folder alone takes up almost 6.5gig. O.K. the manual and everything else in FS2004 says that ATC will open the largest runways that are closest aligned with the upwind, obviously so that you take off and land against the wind.However, these past few days I hear the ATIS and wind is like 013/12 and the runway that is open is 01L and 01R in Washington. Like, what the hell? Why not open the other end of the runway 19L and 19R? I was landing into Washington DC last night (real weather) it was snowing no visibility and they are telling me to land on 01R and the only other option open is runway 01L.Wind was aligned downwind on 01R meaning it was also traveling north, I was traveling south from Allentown against th…

Several freeware and payware aircraft designers are now recommending users to add gdiplus.dll to WIN98 installations to allow aircraft designed for WINXP to work correctly.They don't seem to agree on where this file should be placed. I thought I have seen pictures with "drifting snow" on the edge of the runway textures but I can't get that condition to exist.Anyone have seen this effect and if so can you tell me what season/weather conditon to set in order to get it. I've followed the recent "real weather d/l problems" and recent "burp" in the d/l accuracy posts. Have agreed. Hey I have a problem, maybe I'm dumb and doing this wrong but. Say I file for a simple IFR flight from Washington Dulles (KIAD) to Pittsburgh Int. (KPIT).I file it under a direct GPS route and take off. Everything is fine, the plane follows the direct heading on the GPS. As I fly I begin to set up my approach vectors, say to runway 10L following vectors. I load it but do not activate it yet.I mean what I want to do is fly to the airport, and when near the vectors to the runway, activate it so that it puts me in there. And once I'm on the approach I switch from GPS to NAV and set the auto on APP to capture the glideslope and localizer.However, every time I get near the stu…

I started up my Computer yesterday, after i woke up, and as usual i went to Avsim to check the new files Libary, ....I have AOL, and the web page showed up fine, but when i click on the link to the "Libary", it shuts down AOL, and restarts it, Telling me there was an Error with "MSHTML.DLL" and is restarting AOL, I tried opening the Libary with the Regular Internet Explorer page, but it crashes that also, Saying "MSHTML has caused an error and Internet Explorer will now Close"!?? Wondering where to install mesh. I know if I put it in my fs9/addonscenery folder it becomes active but I don't want a bunch of loose files in there because it'll cause confusion down the road. I'd like to create a folder in my fs9/addonscenery folder, call it meshxxx, and have it automatically load. Possible? How do others organize their mesh files? Many thx.billg

I have finally added some ai to my installation and want to adjust the taxi speed. Downloaded and tried taxispd.zip from the other site - got a run time path error.Anybody got this to work?If not, where is the taxi speed value for the planes so I can change it manually?Thanks.

Well I know this has probably been mentioned before but I'll post it anyway.I have FS9 with Mytraffic 2004 and like many others, my system (Athlon 1800XP, Radeon 9600 Pro, 512MB)struggles at the major aiports - fps below 10 at Chicago o' Hare - when the traffic slider is high (over 60%)and other sliders are nearly maxed out. Oh well, I think. 90% of the rest of the world isn't this busy so I'm not bothered. Then I think to myself, major airports...hmmmmm...my FS9 settings have GA and airline traffic ticked....hmmmm...do I go to the major airport to see Cessnas or do I go to the major airports to see 747's? I have been using an aircraft.cfg file and a .air file from Steve Small for the Baron in FS2002. I am now finding that I don't like the "feel" of the Baron in FS2004 and also , when flying the Baron in the FS2004 lessons, I cannot achieve the speeds that the instructor wants me to. He keeps saying "speed up,speed up" to 170 knots and all I can get out of it is 165 when straight and level and "set the MAP to 25 inches at 5000'" when the damn thing is maxed out at 24.6'. Then he cancells the lesson because "I am distracted!! " :)I quite like to do these lessons -- even though I can fly all over on my own-- but i need to be able to achieve what the instructor wants.Thanks B…
