Ok, Im not sure if this is even going to be in the right forum..but here goes. I am trying to load a created flight plan from KMDT..but everytime I go to load it...FS9 crashes. It loads up to 80% but when it gets to loading the traffic it shuts down. Now I can go into any other airport...except KMDT. Could it have something to do with the Flight plans I just created for that airport? I added PAI's texture for DH8c in USAir colors..and created a small flight plan...but thats it. Im at a loss, thanks in advance for any help or suggestions. Jeff

Forgive me for repeating a question I'm sure has been asked several times before. Is there a way to get an overcast sky is FS9. I have an older system.... 1.3ghz AMD, GeForce3 Ti 200 and 512meg of RAM.No matter what I have tried, I can't get a good overcast cloud layer.Any suggestions?

Wondering if anyone is useing the NAMC twin engine turbo prop and can give me a hand. When I taxi and/or try a take off roll I get extreme pulling to the left. I've checked and rechecked the manual (dosn't mean I didn't miss something, hehe) and can't see where I'm going wrong. I've left it for a few days and then come back to it with a fresh start and still can't find the problem. Looks like a fun aircraft if I can get it off the ground. :-)thxbillg

I have fsmeteo ver. 6.4Today I wanted to fly from JFK. I was at the gate preparing for the flight. There was a heavy snow and 3ms visibility. After about 5-6mins snow stopped. So I minimize fs, and press refresh in fsmeteo. Snow came back, but after another 5-6mins it stopped snowing again. Any ideas what's wrong? Maybe I should change something in options or in fsuipc?Jacek

Folks,I just installed FS9 on a medium level XP Home system, and a simple "touch & go" flight from Meigs seemed to work fine. I then tried to invoke Real World Wx with 15 minute updates and after a lengthy delay get a dialog box saying ... "An error occurred while downloading Real-World Weather. Please check your internet connection and try again." Another typically uninformative Microsoft diagnostic alarm.I'm using the same configuration as I did in FS2K2, where I did not have this problem. Before running FS I always run EndItAll to free resources. In checking what resources that are being shut down I don't see anything system critical. I do run both McAfee Firew…

Searched for this but can't find an answer...does the bug on the Lear's VSI work? I dial in a vertical speed, which the autopliot seems to recognize, but the bug stays at zero. Is the bug non-functional, or am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any replies,Boogie.

Hi,I just wonder if anyone else finds it confusing to have 2 names (FS9 and FS2004) for the same program? Or am I missing something?Does GMAX work with the above? I tried, but without success, altho it's fine with 2002 prof.My first post since a long time, so probably covering old stuff, but could not find an answer in previous posts. Thanks and cheers, voscon.

Hello,First and most important - I AM NOT A REAL PILOT. I fly Sims as a hobby and really enjoy them! After flying GA's for almost a year I have switched to bigger systems like the PMDG 737NG and the Airbus - I use both the PSS and the SSW buses.I enjoy planning the flights and programming the system CDU's/FMS.Lately, I have tried to master the Airbus systems. This, to me, is a real mind set that is different than any other plane I have learned to sim fly. The automation level is far more important in the bus than my DC-9 727 and even the 737. My question is this: between the concept presented by the PSS bus cockpit and the SSW cockpit - which is more the real system? The S…

...So having owned the full CD version of the CaptSim Legenday 727, and the MAAM-Sim B25J Mitchell "Briefing Time" seeing the newly-released MD83 and the rave reviews, I thought I'd download it for a try at a freeware airliner... I did, and I didn't pay for it so I'm not going to complain. What I'm looking for is another aircraft - preferably a DC-9 variant - which is at the same level of perfection as these first two aircraft: same photorealistic panelling; same vc; same manuals, sounds, etc.. Anyone who has either of these two aircraft is very much aware of the superiority of them and will know just what I'm looking for. Advice please, and thanks for your replies.regard…

I recently went into FS2004 world scenery and changed the priority order of my 3rd party scenerys. When I checked the scenery.cfg in FS2004 I found all the numbers all out of sequence. Ok so I went through all the listed scenerys very carefully and reorganised all the area and layer numbers into numerical sequence, backed up the file and checked FS2004 would run correctly. Now every time I boot FS2004, it displays the message "Building database for new scenery files. This may take a few moments".This now occurs every time I boot FS2004...?The sim seems to display normally?Any ideas anyoneThanks in advanceCheersPete :)

Hi all,I asked this question a while ago, and got a very useful response from Ken S, but am keen to see if I can generate a few more replies....Looking to get a notebook, and whilst I appreciate it will never be as effective as a desktop, I'm hoping I can run FS9 on it, assuming I get one with a bit of grunt!I'm looking at a Dell or Toshiba, with 3Ghz+, and no less than 512Mb ram, and a decent graphics card.Looking to see if anyone out there has any strong feelings either way. Needless to say it's a large investment.CheersAllblack

  15. I have just tried out the new ATC of FS2004 for the first time -- I selected a VOR/DME approach for a runway that was almost straight-in from my approach direction. From the approach plate that I have, it seems that I should have been vectored into the airport on a certain track and then slowly dropped down from about 10 miles out. In fact, the VOR/DME approach procedure was described as the :Runway14, Vor/DME 10 mile approach: by ATC. However, I found that ATC just kept me going at a height of 2500 until only 3 miles before the airport. Anybody else experienced this kind of thing ?Thanks Barry

Hello to all;I'm using GoFlight hardware to fly my aircrafts, my question is, when I change the frequency in my GoFlight radio to lets say the tower, how can I "tell" them, in the tower, to talk to me, without using the windows menu that is normally used for the traffic communications.Whan I mean is, I'm in ground freq, they tell me to change to tower when ready to depart, I'm ready, I change my freq. in my radio, but the tower will not respond to me, only if I used the 1 or 2 or 3 from the traffic menu.Is there a way for them to know I'm in their freq.Thank you for your help.

I thought this was kind of funny, A simple IFR flight from KHYA to KBOS. Depart 33 hya, landing 33L bos. With the obligatory go around after being cut off over the 33L outermarker. MS, If you are watching these forums, I know you can do better! :-) The CPU load could probally be reduced by cutting out the aprox. 30 or so unnessary vectors, and frequency changes alone. Sorry to beat a dead horse. Also I got fried by the pave paws radar north of otis ANGB, (the restricted area) This is a submarine launched ballistic missle early warning radar that plays havoc with our avionics at the airline I work at.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/51906.jpg

Does anyone have experience of getting Squawkbox/AVC et al through a Linux IPtables firewall. If anyone out there has a working script (ideally based on rc.firewall-2.4-stronger) I would be grateful. The alternative is that I will actually have to learn this stuff and I don't fancy that.Cheers,Steve

Have you ever had that perfect flight where everthing, from startup to shutdown, just comes together right? I just had such a flight in the Maule.I was on Bushnet and flew in Alaska from Ketchican to PAKW about 45 miles to the West. I was flying real-time, real-weather at around 2:45pm so the sun was low in the sky. The weather was amazing. There were a couple layers of broken clouds and some light turbulence to add some excitement. I really had to pay attention to where I was because I would go from pretty good visiblity to deep in clouds from one moment to the next.Along the way, I watched another Bush pilot about 7 miles away and listed to the radio chatter from ot…
