In the excellent post by Jimmy Richards, "FS2004 and WinXP Optimization Guide, Jim suggests not to try and increase memory usage by changing from the default setting "Programs" to "System Cache", which would speed up data transfer resulting in a smoother and more fluid operation of FS2004. This setting is found by following this path: Control Panel > System > Advanced > Performance > Advanced.In an article found on the PC Aviator website, the author states exactly the opposite, to use "System Cache" to enhance performance. I just installed Paulo Pizzato's lovely C-46 Commando into FS2004.Unfortunately there seem to be a couple of problems with it that I'm hoping someone will know the cures for.1: On selecting Commando in the Aircraft Menu I get a "SoundLib -File not found " several times.Eventually after clicking OK about 6 times it lets me continue and when in flight etc. all the sounds seem to be there.In the aircraft's sound folder there are 30 files plus the.cfg file.Am I missing any?2: The transponder doesn't work - that is - you can't change the code from the default 1200.This is a problem if flying online.The rest of the radio stack seems fine - it's just the transponder.This is a…

With the default Bell Helicopter , I loose frequently the airspeed indication (fs2004). It goes suddenly down to zero and stays there.Would be interested to know if other people have the same problem?Is this a known bug?Is there a wayaround?Happy landingsGuy

Hi guys I have had both the CH yoke and pedals working on my system now for about 18 months using XP. But recently after an XP update the pedals are not recognised. If i go through the turn off disconnect the USB connection then recconect windows pulls up a message stating there is an error and there is a problem with recognising the hardware connected. I tried a restore point or two and even resorted to a clean install but still alas nothing. Then I wrote to CH and they said the USB system I have SiS, is not compatible with the pedals and it was my problem not theirs! Bizare as they have worked fine now for a period of time. Hello,I have WinXP, 1 GB Ram 266, Athlon 1400, Radeon 9700, nForce2 based mainboard. In FS 2004 and CFS3 I have blurred textures from close to the horizon. In FS2002 I had not this problem and it makes me think that it's a DirectX 9 problem. Please help, my game is appearing too ugly, I can't enjoy it.Thanks.....

Ugh, I feel so ashamed, first pacakage I#d ever had to consult the manual and then request help on the forum :(I've aligned the IRS's successfully. Was following a thread in the Project AI forums about AFCAD2 and closing runways. I understand that closing a runway for takeoff or landing does nothing for the AI traffic. Is this true?Then, closing it for takeoff or landing would only affect what? The markings on the runway? Possibly, which runway ATC gives you?Just curious since tonite I was flying into Kodiak, ATC gives me rwy 11 for landing. There's no way I could land on it, terrain all around. Hi All,Is there a way to save a flight with the aircraft door in the open position (of course assuming this in animated on the model)? I've tried and its seems that whenever I load up the flight the door is closed again.Any help appreciated, thanks!Best,Joel

I am not a pilot. However, it seems strange to me that when I turn a Cessna 172 (yoke) and abruptly reverse that turn there is no inertia. The aircraft immediately begins to respond by changing wing positions (wing up/down). The reaction is almost identical to that in slew mode if you turn the yoke left and right. The only difference seems to be that in slew mode the action is faster.The atmosphere is elastic and the aircraft has mass, therefore I would expect some overshoot when I stop a turn with the yoke. An overshoot that declines in some mathmatically modeled manner. Rather I see an instant stop to the turn with the aircraft moving in the turned-to direction. This se…

Guys,A few hours ago i started having big problems with my cpu loading. every time when i start my computer a few minutes later the cpu ussage jups to 100% and stays there for abaout 2 - 3 minutes going back to 2 - 5% for a minute and this keeps on going. The only thing i did was reinstalling Creative SB drivers and deinstalling Antivirus software.If i try to look up which program is taking up so much cpu power, the only thing i see using cpu power is the taskmanager at 99% cpu usage????Anyone got an awnser for this bizar behaviour??????My system specs are:Win XP homeAMD 2200512 MBasus GF4 ti4200Thanks guys,Gallie

I can find no good references to the highly touted Kneeboard changeswhere the FS2004 user could access web pages. Now my system (FS9) does not seem to work this way any longer. What has happened? Have we had to drop this use? Has Microsoft objected? What? I can find nothing on it now. Thanks.

Due to many problems I am having to reinstall FS2004. I am so disorganised but have found my CDs and there are 3 in the box. I thought there were 4. Am I missing 1?

How i can read-out DME information from NAV2 in Bill Grabowski ERJ Panel?

I had some problems with the FSEdit SDK and found some interesting things I wanted to pass on. In my case, the doc file was corrupt and failed on a figure in the document. Word would error out and try to recover. I removed all the files from the SDK folder and reinstalled but still had the problems. I downloaded a second copy of the SDK installer from Microsoft and still had the problem. However I finally fixed it by using the "remove SDK" function from the installer (this shows up in the menu after the first installation) and then made a "clean" reinstall and all works fine now.So if you have similar problems, try the remove function and then do a new install.Happy …

G'day,Looking through the forums, I've noticed that other users have had the same problem that I've had with timezones (that is, the sim changes Z rather than L time as you cross into a new zone). There are few solutions - Realtime does an alright job except you still get a reload when you fly into a new timezone. But has anyone come up with a way to get around this bug? Is there anyway to decompile (and recompile) the timezone.bgl? Would this even solve the problem? Or is the problem more intrinsic to the sim?Bryn.

Hi, why when I increase throttle on the new MD-80 panel there is a spoiler warning and some other warnings as well? I have checked everything in the panel and the warnings keep going off. Is there something that Im doing wroing. Its kinda annoying.Thanks,Bill

I currently have a Gateway 1.9ghz P4 with Rambus512 40gig ATA100 and a ti4200 64meg nvidia evga card.I run say at most sliders 3/4 to full clouds at 60% with 3rd party reduced textures and traffic in the 80-85% range and using my UT, PMDG 737, and sim flyer sceneries I get from 6-9FPS forward and 11-13 out the side.In flight I get around 8-10FPS front near cumulous and 15-20 side.I am looking at a Dell 8300 3GigP4 800FSB with 512DDR,ATI Raedeon 9800PRO 128meg 80 gig ATA Ultra 100 .I know this is a stupid question but is it worth the extra cash vs performance.Will I see a noticable difference FPS and stutters near clouds.I added a sound card and other bells and whistles fo…

Anyone else having problems running the FS2004 FSedit SDK? After installing it, I get a message that mfc70.dll is not found. A quick search of the internet suggests that mfc70.dll is a component of Visual Studio and is not a standard dll component of Windows. Just installing this particular dll does not help either. The message then states that "Windows cannot run this program because it is in an invalid format". Happens to me on both Windows 98 and Windows ME. I haven't another OS to test it on.I'm getting an uncomfortable feeling that this SDK might only run on Windows XP (maybe not even that) or else anyone wanting to run it requires Visual studio installed as well.
