Hi everybody!!!Here I come again with some need for help.I downloaded and installed VATSIM but for some reason I cannot make it work. I follow the instructions given:1) I create a game in multiplayer in FS.2) Then I open Squawkbox Host for 20023) Then I open Squawkbox Main Program4) I press start. Then I get stuck there, because doesn't matter if I write my IP or leave blank I am never shown any session to choose and it keeps looking for ever (I tried leaving it looking for a couple of hours with no result).Thanks,Leo

After months of using Fs9 with the idiotic flashing screens when choosing the menu, and horrible overcast and fog, I finally found the solution today.Go to www.guru3d.comand download under the ATI driver section, ATI Catalyst 3.9 Rev 5, plus the FSW cloud fixes v2, by ChrisWillis, and Blusephere. Hello,I am flying both the PSS Airbus and the SSW Airbus. I am only a Sim Pilot so it is not easy for me to compare flight characteristics.My situation is as follows:I have flown the PSS bus for a while 319->340. I have flown the SSW bus for about 10 days. I have learned a lot from the SSW bus procedures. However, when I plan a flight with FSNAV2 (kphl->kiad)and fly it with both aircrafts, the results are quite different. The PSS bus (the 330 this time) flies the route 100% from TO to Landing. The decent is right on target and the ILS approach and landing are great. In the case of the SSW bus, the decent is not correct (way high at approach) and the ILS is missed. I…

Many thanks to Gerrit Kranenbarg for creating his BlueSphere project. The Service Pack and Visibility Layers downloads do wonders to rid FS of its odd overly reflective lowlying visibility layers. I do lots of simming near coastal mountains where default vis looks pretty awful. Not a problem now. The other enhancements are subtle, but no doubt do increase photorealism. I just have the fall package and Service Pack in now. And FYI: if you have the excellent Water from Bill Lyons (I think?!) Gerritt's nice autoinstall will not mess with that. Hi,I'm building a new FS program and am in need of some special sound effects. Anyone know where I can locate the following:1. Sounds of pax "boarding" an airplane (any airliner will do). Deplaning sounds would be nice, too. Just the general sounds of over head bins opening and closing, chit chat, FA's saying hello and good bye, etc.2. Sound of cockpit door opening and closing.3. 'Knock knock' sound on cockpit door.I need it for a new program I'm working on.Anyone know of anything?Thanks!

Hi, I am looking for suggestions on the best anti-virus application. Specificly in how it relates to flight sim. I use Norton but it seems to load allot of proccesses. It seems there is quite a bit of memory used. Any ideas or thought? Thanks.

I've got a Compaq laptop with an 8 MB Rage Mobility M-1 video card (yeah, its a bit dated now). It runs FS 2002 fine at 1280x1024 resolution (with a few non-fatal graphical glitches here and there) with graphical settings about half way. FS 2004 crashes as soon as a flight starts up (using the default Win XP driver for my card) and if I install a non-WinXP certified video driver (found on the web), FS 2004 doesn't even recognize I have a 3D capable card (and it still crashes even in non 3D mode). For reference, FS 2002 works fine in 3D mode with all drivers (default and non-Win XP certified).And despite the fact that the package says an 8 MB video card is the minimum r…

Hello Gang!I have been searching for a nice CRJ-700 (Freeware), to add to my FS2004 repertoire for quite some time now. I finally ran into Barry's CRJ-700 for FS2002, which looks rather nice and has several repaints that are indeed very nice as well. The readme file states that the model has "moving everything", etc. When I install it in 2004, I get the following issues:1. No landing gear visible. Airplane appears floating in the air.2. No turning engine fan blades. Engine intake appears grayed out.3. Hi What is the correct pitch i should be flying at on level cruise altitude. Reading what i found on a 737 technical web site it says 4 deg. All of my 737's seem to fly at 6/7 deg. From outside looking at the aircraft the nose always seem to be to high as it is tail heavy. I cant find anyway to adjust pitch for a more level looking flight. This happens whether i have a full fuel tank or running on fumes. Thanks Shaun

If you want to listen to bird and animal sounds while flying in bush country in the Northwest, you can install S.Combo by David March and make a folder in the ATC folder of that program, named accordingly, where you can store animal and bird sounds given as freeware with some of ther Alaska scenery addons at avsim. You then activate S Combo and the effect is amazing--thrushes, loons, coyotes, wolves, a moose, crow, many types of birds, stream, brook also, insects--you name it---some of the scenery addons have it. Hi all, I have been running FS2004 on a 1.4mhz w/ 512 ram, GF4 TI-4200 ona WinXP Pro system. All of a sudden I am getting a crash to desktop when I am approaching a airport. I beleive it is related to ATC because yesterday it happned as soon as I recieved KDEN ATIS message. This morning on the same flight (repeat) It did not crash right away. I had already contacted ATC & received my landing vectors. When ATC went to talk to another plane, BOOM, back to desktop. To disk thrashing, no error messages, just shut down. It was the IK DC-9 yesterday & the default B737 today. Any ideas? Thanks.Pat Callaghan

I currently have Steve Kempf's Colorized Textures and now there are two new excellent texture updates, FS Relief 2 and BlueSphere.I'm sure that the 3 or 2 of them cannot be combined since certain files will overwrite each other. So which one do you all recommend?I would like to use Chris Willis' cloud updates for the FPS improvement and his excellent new night light textures. I'm also using Chris Arrington's Airport Environment Upgrade MX (Master's Edition).I'm using Bill Lyon's amazing Calm water textures.Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.Regards

Hi guys,I am getting a new problem in FS2004 which has me perplexed.In all aircraft with a HSI I am getting a split of approximately ten degrees between the indicated and actual heading. Could it be coincidence that it now indicates my true heading not my magnetic heading?For example, lined up on Sydney's RW16R which has a magnetic bearing of 155 the HSI reads 167, as does the information gained by hitting shift+Z.Hitting 'D' doesn't help (nor should it as HSIs derive information from remotely slaved compass systems).Does anyone have any information that might help me correct this issue?Thanks in advance,AJ.

My Airport has parallel runways,very simular to KATL. My runways are 26l-26r, 27l-27r. Atc will set takeoffs for both 26r and 27r. But will only allow landings on 26l, which is the northern-most runway. It does seem to matter which direction the wind flows. I can't get ATC to use 27l. Used Afcad 2.11. Any suggestions.Thanks

My 9800 Pro died today :-( . And I gave away my Ti4200 a couple of weeks ago :-( . But I still had an old GF2 Ultra lying around so I installed that. And I can't believe the framerates with FS9. Using the same settings as the 9800 Pro (everything maxxed, with 100% UT and FSGenesis 38-meter mesh) and 4X AA, the framerates are a consistent 40-60% of the 9800 Pro. Things don't look nearly as good, of course, but I never thought it would even be flyable with this card. I'm really amazed. I would like to purchase a Dell XPS 3 GHz machine, but am wondering how loud it is with its several fans. I had a Dell earlier, which I believe was meant to function as a "server" (a PowerEdge 1400) and its fans were VERY LOUD.Can anyone confirm that a top-of-the-line XPS is indeed quiet enough to function as an "in-room" computer and to enjoy the sounds of flight simming?Thanks,Joe

My Precision 2 USB stopped working recently, and I can't find one anywhere!!Apparently, Microsoft discontinued these products, but why? I wasn't overly fond of it, but having tried a Logitech and Saitek, I can say that I'm ###### not being able to get another MS! I was used to it, and the others are way to stiff!Another reason to hate Microsoft! Plus I can't afford the CH yoke and pedals right now!Chris

I have downloaded Al Wheeler's central coast of California, but parts of the runways and taxiways disappear in fs04. Any ideas please?

Is there anywhere I can find real world flightplans that are used by airlines? I am talking flightplans that I can look at and load into my PMDG 737 FMC and fly, not AI flightplans. My method of using FSNavigator to pick sids and stars which give me the shortest distance to my intended destination does not seem very realistic. Would be nice to have some airliner flightplans that are or have been used in the real world. Thanks for the helpRyan
