When I first started using FS2004 the water displayed properly in all settings (No water effects, Low, and High). However, recently I have been noticing this issue with all river and lake water (ocean water is fine). I have not added any third party textures or installed any scenery. It does not matter what settings I use, I still get this problem...My video card is a GeForce 3 Ti200, it has been working fine...Can anyone shed any light on this problem???http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/55154.jpg

Hi guys,I have searched and read all of the related threads regarding shimmering, swimming and dancing textures. I have tried all of the tweaks but can only reduce and not remove this most unpleasant graphic problem.The shimmering appears on ground objects (buildings mainly) as well as anything with a straight line (roads, runways). They also appear on the terrain at a distance, but this is more of a swimming effect than a shimmer or "glitter". If I hit pause, the image is perfect. As soon as I start to move, the shimmering is back - so a screen shot won't help describe the problem.Frame rates aren't a problem.My system:Gigabyte 81EXP Mobo with Intel 845 chipset.P4 2.…

Hi, FS2004 has been a wonderful change over FS2002 for me. I don't get blurries like I did in 2002 and the autogen works well. Now for my questions:1. I'm going to fly all around the USA and try to hit at least 500 different airports. Which freeware airports are suggested? (I have the Emma Field payed for, and the new Boston scenery, and Reading, Pennsylvania)2. I have some of the FSGenesis mesh for USA. What other places are good for finding freeware mesh?3. I have yet to fly on VATSIM using FS9 since I got it. Whenever I log onto vatsim, ServInfo shows me off the coast of africa somewhere. ATC has also confirmed showing me there as well. I've followed all the instructions on http://www.fspilotguy.tk and should have everything set up correctly. Am I missing anything? Thanks in advance

Quick question about mesh. I've got the whole US loaded from Terrafish. Somewhat pleased, but I understand it's only a step up from MSFS default. I've also got some 38M LOD10 mesh, freeware, mostly from AVSIM or FSGenesis.net.Question is, I've got all the mesh in one folder in my Addon Scenery folder. Should I be mixing mesh like this? And if it's okay to do so, as I understand MSFS will display the most in-depth mesh, does it slow down the sim much in order to do that? Does it matter?Thanks,

Currently I use Project AI for my AI planes. It works out ok, but I want to incorporate mostrealistic ai flight plans. Yet when I do the installer, i get messages saying either they cannot find the plane associated with the airline (which is there since I installed the PAI package) or I get an error saying there are problems with .air files and such. How can I get around this so I can get more flights? Do I need AI-AARDVARK? Thanks, please be as detailed as possible.Brad

I thought it was possible to replace the call signs used by default AI traffic (Soar, Landmark, etc.). I tried the following:"Open aircraft.cfg file of any default aircraft and change string editable=0 to editable=1 then open FSEdit, open that aircraft and just type in the field ATC Information -> airline the desired name from airlines.cfg file. For instance for MD-80 you can change Soar to Air Canada. The same for flight number. Is there a program I can download that allows me to update new waypoints into FS2002? I have found the the SIDS and STARS at many airports have been updated and the waypoints required are not in FS2002.Thanks!

I still have one problem I haven't been able to solve. The max airspeed gets set at 320 knots and doesn't matter how high I go it remains the same. When I go faster than that the airspeed indicator shows the numbers in red and I keep getting the annoying "high speed" message. I tried both indicated airspeed and true airspeed in the realism settings with the same result.Also as per the manual, it says that when the VS is on, the airspeed autopilot mode won't work, but when you reach cruise altitude it will respond again. Not in my panel. The airspeed works while climbing, of course when I climb manually, but when I get to cruise altitude it doesn't work. Do anyone have an …

Here's an interesting request. I have generated a lot of interest from real-world flight attendants and pilots who wish to make new additional voice-sets for my FlightDeck SFX Panel (finally some new voices!!!). I do all of my virtual flying in Alaska. As you can imagine, there are some challenging approaches in Alaska. Until recently, all of my flying was "VFR" with "flight following." Now that's not to say I never flew in IMC. I use ActiveSky wxRE, and take the weather as it comes. But in instrument meteorological conditions, I've been using my real world charts, maps, and plates to get around.Recently I've begun to "file" flight plans and fly vectored approaches. When I look at the .ABL file for Student Lesson 3 it refers to several .WAV files that do not exist on my hard drive or any of the installation disks. They are s3-61.wav, s3-62.wav, s3-63.wav, s3-64.wav, s3-65.wav, and s3-66.wav.Can anyone confirm this?When I contacted MS tech support the person who responded said that they had never learned ABL, but the product was fully tested and this wasn't possible. Great.If I'm just misunderstanding the code I would appreciate it if you could help me out, but if not if you could send a not to MS tech support. Is anybody using this piece of software? I think it's a nice little app. and it does it very well, except for one thing. It seems like the wind never changes no matter how high up you go. Is there a way to change this? The thing I like the most about this software is that it's small and very easy to use and gives a very good repersentation of the current weather, if only there's a way to add the winds.ThanksMikkel

Where is the best place to keep addon scenery? Should it be in the ADDON scenery folder? Does location REALLY affect performance? Some authors require installation of MESH scenery in the sceneryworldscenery folder and yet others require installation in the addon scenery folder scenery. A little earlier someone asked for suggestion's for future item's that non-US user's would like to see.Well here in the UK the default ATC is definately NOT 'as real as it gets'- the biggest problem being the number of incorrect ATC calls and the differing terminolgy.I have recorded a complete 'UK English VoicePack' which gives me 'one English voice', that can be used either to provide a either an ATC or pilot's voice. I decided to try some of Rod's personal lessons in FS2004. I ran the Student Pilot Straight and Level flight, and at one point Rod says to "pause the sim to mentally prepare". When I resume, Rod never comes back - it's as if he jumped out. In the Climbs and Decents lesson it seems to happen as well. I remember the identical problem in '02, but would think it would be fixed in '04. Any ideas?? Thanks.
