After a full reinstall of Win 7 I installed FSX Steam. All was well for several months but now I am constantly getting new problems with the sim. Things like "Error ID = 28 Unable to install message filter", Steam pops up/disappears, etc. So, my question is should I uninstall all of Steam, FSX, etc and then install FSX ? Otherwise, how about installing FSX on a separate drive and leaving Steam? I had high hopes for Steam but it doesn't help much when problems arise. About the only fix(temporary) is to revalidate files .....usually 2 or more need to be corrected

Evenning, I foolishly installed SweetFX, I then tried to uninstall it deleting the files, each time now when I start FSX I get no actual sim display, please see screenshot, however the engines sounds everything can be heard running just no display. I tired deleting FSX.CFg and let it built another one but no luck. Hello all I've only just installed FSX SE, which seemed to go fine first time that I run it. However, now whenever I load FSX SE, it opens on the Home tab and I'm faced with the following script error. I have to click "No" to three different, "Do you want to continue running scripts?" error screens before the home page loads. The problem comes when I attempt to load the Free Flight tab; FSX SE just hangs with no Free Flight info loading. Even worse, the whole computer locks up, needing a hard reset to reboot. Years ago I was a crazy avid FSX simmer, and I played it with literally tons of add-ons with absolutely no issues at all. Then real life happened (A GOOD kind of happened - career related ), and I left my computer's side for almost 5 years to travel. Now I am back, and have even better hardware than I had last time. How do people run fsx across two PC's?

I am very impressed by the what AS16 with ASCA can do, at least in their PR videos, but does the tech work in FSX? And the standard (IMO loaded) question: is it worth it for FSX considering that I already use ASN and REXE/softclouds? As for any mods who feel "too many topics on this subject", well I only own FSX and am only interested in what other FSX users have to say about this product. I have visited the P3D forum, and yes, there are varied topics and conversations happening there, all which are obviously P3D centric. Let the FSX users have something to say about this product!

Love fsx, been playing for some time now, but over the years of all the downloads and add ons etc my computer has had it, I have to have all the settings on low just to play it! So I want to invest in a pc purposely for this game, want to be able to have really good graphics and no lag etc, but not spend a small fortune. Hi All, Right, I know that this isn't Maddog's site but if any of you out there have Maddog you will know how little response you get from their forum, and the brains on this site are far greater than mine!! The first problem... when the taxi light and/or the landing lights are switched on they don't display on the ground, taxiing in the dark is difficult to say the least!! Hello gents, FWIW, I am running the Steam edition of FSX and was informed that the non-Steam version of Aerosoft's beautiful F-16 would not work. People are being encouraged to purchase the Steam version of the Falcon. For kicks and giggles, I installed the non-Steam version anyway (as well as Aerosoft's Dillingham Airbase in Hawaii, which is also not supposed to work on Steam) and both run like a dream. I can even turn on the HUD and MFD's and she's ready to go. So, if you already have the F-16 from Aerosoft (and, IMHO it's one of the finest add-ons ever made), don't buy the Steam version. Your old one should work just fine.

Hi Folks! I use FSX ATC modified with Edit VoicePack. Every once in a while I accidentally cancel ATC before I takeoff by making a selection before the display has finished updating It then immediately defaults to VFR, etc., and won't allow me to reactivate nor to takeoff if conditions are IFR. I have tried reloading the flight plan, changing to a different flight plan, etc. Nothing seems to allow me to get an IFR clearance again. While enroute, FSX ATC asks for confirmation before it cancels a flight plan and then gives the option of "flight following" but during taxi out if I accidentally click on the "cancel flight plan" option, it does not ask for confirm…

Hi there, is there any alternative to FSRecorder for FSX Steam Edition (or P3D)? In my system I've installed only FSX Steam Edition, no FSX no P3D. The author in its own forum said has no time to develop a new version for Steam/P3D. But someone told FSRecorder 1.3 works quite fine with some limitation. I wouldn't want to arm my system so ask you which are these limitations and if are there problem installing 1.3 on a single FSX:SE configuration. Alternatively, is there any freeware/payware software (or W.I.P.) to substitute FSRecorder? Thanks so much in advance.

Has anyone tried AS16 yet? As a current ASN user, I'm disappointed that you have to buy separate versions for FSX and P3D. As a result, it would have to have something special to convince me to upgrade. Thoughts?

Hello all Have finally decided to move over to FSX SE, and although I'm pretty sure that the majority of my FSX addons will work fine, I do know that Aerosoft's AES will not. However, I also use GSX, so I'm not to bothered regarding service vehicles and there's always Ctrl-J for jetways. But, the one thing that I will really miss is the way that AES replaces the runway textures of third part airports during rain to a far more realistic interpretation. So my question is, is there a utility available that can replace the runway textures of third party airports as per AES ? I know of Airport Enhancer HDX, but this appears to only work with default airports ? …

About to install FSX:SE after uninstalling beloved boxed edition. As part of trying to tweak performance out of my system, I have always installed FSX on its own SSD drive, with nothing else on it, and created a separate user account just for flying in FSX. The logic being all the overhead that installed programs add -- I only install non-FSX software under the non-FSX user account, and all FSX-related software under the FSX user account. Is there any advantage to doing this? Should I just install FSX:SE under the main Win7 Admin account I use? (My inexpensive SSD drive added just for FSX didn't seem to make any speed improvements either, did I waste my money on that)…

I setup a default Cessna 172SP to be parked at Ramp 12 at North Las Vegas. I set it as my default flight. However after 1-2 minutes of just sitting there. The engine dies. I'm getting an Oil Pressure warning before death. This only happens when I'm idling. When it's in motion it's fine. I'm hesitant to take her into the skies to see what's going on. I'm also running with real weather (downloaded every 15 minutes.) Under clear weather she'll sit...and wait. Thoughts? I'm new here and am in the process of gathering the stuff i need to learn how to fly.

I'm using FSX Steam with five 24" outside window views. The middle three (straight ahead, 45 degree left, 45 degree right) monitors are configured as one 5760 x 1080 monitor using NVIDIA Surround. The outer two monitors are configured for the left view and right view. Here's what I do... in the menu bar at the top of the screen (using Window Mode), I select "Views" > "Cockpit", undock the new window, move it to the outer-left hand monitor, and select Pan Left or View Left. Hello I would like some advice please. When I open FSX Steam Edition, as soon as the initial screen appears I get the following message box. Aircraft initialisation failure IFly 747-400 AF. Please Note; I do not have this aircraft in the Steam Edition. However it is in my boxed version of FSX, which is in its own Folder. C:\ FSX. I click on close; and the loading continues to the Steam FSX Home page and” Free Flight” Where I get the same message box again.
