  1. I'm a hobby 3d artist and I was looking for something fun to do, and I haven't yet made a jet, or other airraft, and I thought what would be fun would make it usable in FSX. I'm not after super realistic physics or anything, I just want to see my own creation in FSX, and fully functional. What do I need to get started once I have a model I'm happy with?

I have been using fax for the longest time and it seems now that only as of late have I been getting these "dings". Turns out that FSUIPC is wasrning me of something called an "OOM" error or other wise know as "Out Of Menory". Now I know that this means that RAM or my GPU is the culrprit but rather the OS that the sim was created off of. So here's my question. 1, what tricks do you use to avoid this. 2, why recently? And 3, what are the workarounds? Happy Skies..

Hi I'm having a problem keeping the plane in the sky, I climb up to 38000 feet following directions from ATC without problems so from take off to 38000 feet its ok after 39000 feet the plane just falls out of the sky no matter what I do I have pitot enabled When I ran FSX back in 2007 on a Microsoft XP pc I had no problems Could it be windows 10 that's causing the problem? Best regards Gordon

Hey vintage pilots! When I fly the DC3, the Strat or other vintage birds I tend to fly it without GPS. I use plan-g as map (disconnected, without moving map). The only modern, unrealistic, thing I use are VORs with OBS. But when it comes to approaches I am not sure how they did it back in 1949 for example. Had they also charts, like modern star and sid but only with ndb and so on? What about ATC, how did it work back in time? Where there much more visual work rather than IFR? Is anyone knowing a good Internet source for such Informations? Thank you very much!

So, I've become a little obsessed with the excellent Sibwings AN-2 Colt. It's one of the best I think I've found for fax. But I have one huge issue with it - it's ground handling sucks! I'm using differential braking to steer, as it should be - the tail wheel should be fully castoring but it doesn't seem to properly. Also even the tiniest application of differential brake seems to stop the whole aircraft. It's really difficult to get it to pivot around one of the main wheels. Are there any ways I can tweak the CFG to get more realistic operation? I'd try over on the developers own forum but they seem to be completely inactive and the question has been asked over t…

  8. Evening everyone! I am particularly excited about this so wanted to post everywhere I have a forum membership - there is soon to be a payware C42 Ikarus (COMCO approved and pilot tested flight dynamics!) available for FSX and P3D! Brought to you in collaboration with the very excellent chaps at Sim720. You can find it here: http://airsim720.com/ It's launching on 01 August - not long to wait either! I'm particularly excited about this as it's the aircraft I fly (in real life!) and I know many people in our hobbie have been looking for one. Cheers all Dave

Made first flight on FSX in my new laptop flying from EBBR to EGPH and so far, everything went smooth!! Interesting fact is that in my old laptop, FSX averaged between 10 and 15 fps. In my new laptop, FSX averages between 25 and 32 fps. Makes me wonder if I can extend the fps setting from 32 to 40 or 50 for laptop? What is reasonable fps setting for FSX for laptop and for use of payware airport sceneries as I have about 50? No payware add on aircrafts as I avoid them. Thanks, Aharon

  11. First, I apologize if this has been stated in the AVSIM forums already... if not, I'm glad to report it! As of this past Monday, October 10, 2016, Flight Simulator X turned an official 10 years old! Let this stand as a symbol and legacy for how well anything can age and withstand modern games with a little help from a close-knit community! So... happy birthday, FSX! :Big Grin: :p0502: If anybody has stories (10 years in the making!), feel free to share!

I have been away from FSX for quite awhile. I use a number of addon aircraft pmdg etc/airports/orbx global/asn//EFB/pfpx etc. I know when it first came out there was some compatibility issues. Now that I am thinking about picking up the fslabs airbus I am thinking about switching over to the steam version which I bought quite a long time ago but never installed. Is there any downside to the switch at this point or is everything pretty much compatible?

  13. I posted the same question in the p3d forum and wasn't sure if I should post it here instead. I'm looking for a way to assign one joystick button to enable and disable the AP in the dash 8 pro through FSUIPC. I read somewhere that I have to modify something in the ini file. But how?

  14. I am at this point in the install: (FSX-SE): From the installation guide: In order to do so, start Flight Simulator X and go to the 'Settings' tab and select 'Scenery library'. Like you do with many other add on sceneries. Then, select “add area” and the window will show all folders in the [Microsoft Flight Simulator X] main Folder. Browse to MyTraffic Professional folder that you created by installation above , so if you installed as example to C:\ browse into C:\MyTraffic Professional\. <Did this, my installation is on the C: Drive> Select MyTraffic and press OK. < It doesn't return back to the scenery dialog . It traverses to the C:\MyTraffic Prof…

  15. I was never impressed with ASN's wind and general turbulence effects, particularly the general to and from in light planes I've felt in RL. But in particular hurricanes and thunderstorms. I have yet to check out a thunderstorm in AS26, but in ASN they seemed to involve some high winds, but my planes seemed pretty resilient. I decided to test AS16 by starting the trike at Nassau at midday on Thursday, as Matthew passed over. Amidst terroble visibility and torrential rain, the winds began to tilt the trikes wing and then, snap, it lifted off the ground and spun, cartwheeling hundreds of feet into the air. I switched to the Piper Aztec, but it fared little better, bein…

  16. Hello all, I am taking this opportunity to introduce myself and let you know of my Flight Sim fun. Winter is coming so I have started to think about firing up the PCs in the basement again. I apologize if you have seen this before as I have posted it on a couple of other sites to find a 'home' i.e my level. So many of you have made amazing stuff of which I am envious but I ain't spending that sort of money! I will be changing the set-up to include a decent instrument panel with real switches this Winter. I have what you might call a pseudo-generic simpit and, rather than take up space here, I have put together a few web pages if you would like to see my set-up and the b…

  17. With FSX's 10th birthday here thought people might be interested in this excellent FSElite interview with Hal Bryan who worked with the MS flight sim team from 1997 to it's demise in 2009. Sorry about the non-video video but can't seem to find the audio only version. gb.

  18. Hi there, I'm looking for an update or a tool to adjust the VHF COM radio's in FSX from the old 25 kHz into the new 8.33 kHz channel separation. In the Navigraph publications they are changing frequencies into these new channels and the old FSX radio's are unable to make these channels. Thanks and kind regards, Ico.

I use a 4K 65" TV as a monitor. When the GRIB weather update window comes up it is way too large and takes up about a fifth of the screen real estate. Just wondering where this panel is located and is it then possible to reduce it's size? Also when the GRIB data has finally been downloaded and decoded I see the window does not have a "Close" option listed. I can right click and choose "Close Window" but the thing keeps coming back after about 20 seconds or so. Using P3DV3.4, OpusFSI 4.67.3. Thanks, gb.

I'm having problems finding the best control setup for the FSX trike. This is possibly relevent to the other aircraft too. Basically I should be able to set the hands off trim and have it just 'fly' straight without even touching the bar/controls. Then if I reduce throttle or increase throttle the trike should go up or down, and the bar should move appropriately. The easiest way to describe this is is when in real flight I should not be 'holding' the bar in a particular place, but letting the bar/wing go where it wants to. However, in the 2 options I have tried: 1. Joystick - the joystick springs back to the center position, and the bar is always centered …

I have just installed FSX Steam on my E Drive. My boxed FSX is on my C Drive. I have my Add On and Orbx sceneries on my D drive. Is there anyway I will be able to run the Orbx on both sims and if yes how can I go about setting it up?

  22. Hi.I'm new to this so please be gentle.I've built somebody a trike flight sim using fsx. This has gone pretty well. I've got a control bar hanging off an upside down joystick and it has 3 42" monitors running on an ati eyefinity card. The amd 1100t keeps things running smoothly. It really is quite cool. The problem that we are now having is how the air creation trike actually flies. It reacts really well to all the control inputs until you drop the power and put it into a glide. It effectively drops like a stone with a desent rate of over 1000ft per minute. This is not how the trike that I'm modelling behaves. It's a mainair flash 2 alpha which has a glide of about 700ft p…

  23. Hi All, Decided yesterday that I'm going to move years of summing work into FSX-SE due to performance increases. I run a network setup using two machines, one for gaming, one for support with programs such as EFB, ASCA, AS2016. I always used to use froogles sim connect video to get everything working but that's kind of irrelevant now.. Does anyone have a link to a decent video or text guide for getting this stuff working again?? Thanks in advance
