Good Lord, I just found out that the P-51 Miss America crashed at Reno. She threw a rod in a race, siezed the motor and prop, and had to dead stick in off the field. The pilot was unhurt in what is one of the most awesome jobs of airmanship we may ever see. Just about trashed the plane though, but as they say, any landing you walk away from is a good one. Kudos to him for saving himself and the spectators a Reno. The plane may be damaged beyond repair.

Geez,I voice my opinion and get flamed for it. I certainly din't flame you. I just suggested that I was open to whatever the theories are (were) regarding the loss of our troops. And to ask you to show a little more manners to your fellow simmers. Of course I went to reply to your response, but as per, the thread was locked. You also cry about someone that had apparently insulted your Irish heritage, yet you mock Canadians with that old and so very used "eh" crap. Pathetic if you asked me. Why the double standard? What makes you special?I thought long and hard about what I wrote before I hit the post button. I wanted to voice my opinion on what had happened and maybe shed …

Mom says Daughter is a Christian, and attends Church regulary. The mom NEVER married the father (0bviously a smart move on her part) and he does not have custody of her at all. You connect the dots. :-)The following story reinforces the FACTS that I posted in a previous thread regarding the 9th Judges who have no clue out in California. It also demonstrates the fathers real motives, IMHO.Read This:http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,57511,00.htmlOr CNN here:http://www.cnn.com/2002/LAW/07/11/pledge.d...r.ap/index.htmlNothing but facts folks, nothing but facts. You would think this would have been the lead story, oh well...Regards,Joe :-wave.Oshkosh Pictures From 2001 (Pa…

My President George W. Bush has declared tomorrow Patriot Day in honor of those who have lost their lives and to commemorate the sacrifices United States citizens make in the name of freedom and goodness in life.I thought it would be appropriate to reprint that declaration here:*********President Bush Proclaims September 11 as Patriot DayPresident BushPresidential Proclamation Released by the White House Office of the Press SecretaryWashington, DCSeptember 4, 2002On this first observance of Patriot Day, we remember and honor those who perished in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. One thing I've noticed over the years (and a post by Ray Sotkiewicz - LawnDart brought to mind), and something that has really astonished me as I grow older:I find more peace-loving folk within the armed forces than outside.I've found it extremely ironic to come to that conclusion, but in the end - if you really think about it - I guess it makes complete sense. Those who are tasked to fight to preserve our freedom tend to be those who wish more than anything to avoid a fight in the first place. That they have the absolute resolve to do so if it comes down to it is absolutely clear: but its been extremely interesting to me to find the vast majority of those who have or are…

Here you go:Now let's see what the Prime Minister of Italy said."We'll never forget the fact that about a half a century ago, through the sacrifice of so many young Americans, Italy and Europe were saved from totalitarianism. "Thank you...He also Said:Sit down on this one folks..."I would like to add one more thing --THE PRESIDENT: Sure.PRIME MINISTER BERLUSCONI: I consider the flag of the United States is not only a flag of a country, but is a universal message of freedom and democracy."Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......... Isn't freedom grand.FULL TEXT:THE PRESIDENT: It's my honor to welcome Silvio Berlusconi, the Prime Minister of Italy, to Camp David. I've been looking forwar…

Take out former U.S. ally Saddam,(yes, he was and was supplied between 1985 and 1989, dozens of biological agents were shipped to Iraq from the US under licence from the Commerce Department, even though they were aware of the Kurds and others) take Iraq's 100 billion barrels of oil reserves. The collapse of the Middle East as we know it will begin, this I believe is the long term plan.No more OPEC,Saudi will collapse in Revolution (who will they sell to if the U.S. has access to 100 BILLION barrels ?) The friendlys in the region will have nothing to fear.Leave Saudi to destroy it's self economically by having the Mulla's move in, leave it for 5-10 years, then give them a s…

National Public Television re-aired a documentary this evening concerning the 33,000 airline passengers stranded across Canada on and after September 11, 2001. Seeing the personal stories again reinforced what we knew to be true of our neighbors. Fellow North Americans who responded to terrible events with caring, kindness, and solidarity. We in the US knew a year ago, and are reminded again on this anniversary of the hospitality generously given by Canadians from Gander and St. Johns Newfoundland to the Pacific west and all points in between. We will never forget. Thanks

For The Record. United States to Prosecute Pilots - Canada Friendly Fire Incident.I am from Illinois. Some may remember that in Afghanistan, Two (2) Air National Guard Pilots from Illinois dropped ordinance on an excersise being conducted by forces from Canada. There was a lot of speculation by people that nothing would happen and that the United States did not care that Canadians died.I disagree with that sentiment, and again send my condolences to the families of those that were lost.Regards,Joe********************I hope you will read the entire story, and remember they are innocent until Proven Guilty. But my country will prosecute those that go outside the law. In Th…

Scott Brazell has stated that we can voice concerns here in this forum. I have a couple I'd like to share with you fellow visitors. I have been visiting Avsim forums for 3 years now. I try to obide by all forum rules and I always try to maintain a positive attitude. I state opinions sometimes, but I keep an open mind and try to see both sides. I consider myself as a likeable person around here, maybe not the most popular, but I think some of you like me (I hope :)). I have met some really great people, and overall it has been very pleasant. Well, right up until almost 2 days ago.I recently posted an image in the screen shot forum, an American Airlines repaint of Mi…

I know many of you will consider this an odd question, but I was wondering about the following. I am aware, of course, that airplanes do not have powered wheels and rely only on their thrust engines - prop or jet - for propulsion, but does the power of these engines suffice to propel an airplane weighing several dozen or even hundred tons along an upward slope? I know that British and Russian carrier aircraft take off from "ski jump" ramps incorporated in the ships' decks without the assistance of catapults, but can heavy commercial aircraft with their lower power to weight ratio negotiate rising surface gradients as well, and if so, to what extent? Thanks to all of you!
