Hangar Chat

This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar.  Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here.  Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc.  Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view.  We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

Hello all, I write to ask you for your help in choosing a book that is less than 200 pages that deals with any American and development of anything in/for aviation. It can be anyone. We simply have to read it and present a 3 page summary. Thanks for your help,

I was fortunate enough to sit with the designer of Janes Fa18 at the conference and am now interested in doing some more flying in the sim. One of my few complaints with this program is the inability to hook in rudder pedals along with my joystick throttle combo. Is there a work around for this? Thanks!Colin

Mr. Allensworth, you are a true gentleman. Being a student of Embry-Riddle, I can think of no better way for the simulated flight world to support young aspiring students in the real world. Students that attend this university, both Daytona and Prescott campuses, are true to their profession. It is assured that whomever this scholarship is awarded to each year will greatful as well as deserving.Once again,Thank you

I'm sure I'm not the first one who is in this situation: I got out of High School, sure of what I wanted to do (Television Production) I worked at the schools' TV station, at a few other stations in town, got a video editing suite here at home, and signed up for the necessary courses in University, where I am 2nd year, right now. Then an elf threw a wrench in my plans. Flight sim got me hooked on something else. I honesly would be just as happy to do something in aviation (especially ATC).When I got to an airport, I feel the need to become a part of aviation. When I watch TV, or see clips of behind the scenes, I feel the pull back to TV.So, the point to my rant: Has anyone…

It is nice to see more ladies getting into the simming world. I believe there are now 4 or 5 regular participants here on AVSIM, giving us all a welcome perspective on this great hobby. Your making it easier to try and convince my wife that she should give it a try.Just as a matter of curiosity could you introduce yourselves, and what if anything you do in the real world of flight.http://members.shaw.ca/dan_cyxc/sigcard.jpg

The Iraqis have called our bluffWhat do we do Joe?1) In my opinion this is a stalling tactic.2) This is giving the "political cowards" time to organize their tactical withdrawal.3) My preferred option if we are to hit them is to do it now and hard.4) Every option is a gambleWhat do all of you out there think?Think carefully we are being faced with the big Kahoona question!HereslookingupyakiltbonnieladCookie

I had to place this one in the pilots lounge, It seems to foster a little peer pressure and a high dose of severe ribbing from the pilots to the offender! This method has cut down greatly on this type of hackage! :)

I would like to respond, and then offer my resignation in public, which I have already tendered in private.1. He expressed concern about my handling of the comments in "Hanger Chat", a forum that I do not moderate. Scott

So I want to spend the evening flying, but my wifes iMac is misbehaving, and when she has no joy, I have no joy. Here is the problem, please help me if you can. I have her computer, as well as my three PCs, connected to an SMC Barricade router. The other day she tried to log on, and the iMac can no longer find the router. If I connect directly to the iMac from the cable modem, it recognizes the ISP using DHCP without a hitch. I've ruled out all the hardware issues I can think of (swapped cables, ports on the router, etc.). The only thing I can remember happening was an automatic update from Apple right around the time this happened. I have tried everything I can think of,…
