After hearing a few guys chatting about finding pictures of the overhead panel on a CRJ, I went to A.net to waste some time. I came across this picture of the center pedestal. It appears that the big white and yellow handle is to activate some kind of chute. Does anyone know of a Ballistic Recovery System installed on any CRJs?http://www.airliners.net/open.file/220301/L/

I'm looking into the future and i'm currently getting my PPL in the UK, and after researching into the requirements and the knowledge involving sponsorship, i'm thinking that i'm not ready for it at the moment. Once i propared and feel that i'm ready, i will apply, but for now i'm looking into the other types of work that one can get as a pilot.A job like an instructor is an obvious one, but what are the less obvious ones?I'm particularly interested in what countries will have what jobs, and what they involve.. ie type of a/c etc..So if anyone knows of some knowledge, please can you share the info, as it will come into consideration for the future to get this career prope…

Can anyone tell me why airliners sometimes drop rapidly without warning? A friend told me recently that the plane he was on dropped suddenly over the Atlantic, with the people not weraing seatbelts ending up in adjascent seats. This happened twice within quite a short space of time and it scared him senseless.I'm not sure I'd have enjoyed it either?!!! *gulp*Is it a pressure thing or wind? Is it classed as a stall? Is it dangerous? Or quite a common/frequent occurence? I really know nothing about why this might happen.Curiously,Simon.

Yeah, it's kind of a dumb question, but I was just checking back on the state of Rick Piper's new Viscounts :-shy . FS's ATC seems to be saying "WIS-count", as in "Wisconsin", but my dictionary gives the correct pronunciation as "WYE-count".Anybody able to help a Viscountophile out? :-)(EDIT: I forgot this forum does not like quotation marks in the subject line *ILK* ...! )

I'm sorry, I just have to say this. The product DEMO is available for existing customers ONLY??This is one of the most single bizarre marketing things I think I have ever heard. In fact, it really really turns me off to this XP group. I mean my god, I am not a customer, therefore I am not allowed to see a freakin DEMO of a product that will be available commercially in the future?does this make sense to anyone? I mean it, anyone...?I'll say this, keep your products Reality, from someone who was seriously considering your up coming offerings (and existing ones for that matter)...you just cut me out of the loop, scratch one customer!

Hi guys,I'm not saying this as an idea that would make the 777 better (I know that it wouldn't anyway...), but if Boeing hadn't come up with the idea of teaming up with the 3 big engine manufacturers (PW, GE & RR) and making the huge 777 engines (the GE-90 being the biggest) in order to just use 2 huge engines with ETOPS rules.... Then Boeing would've designed the 777 with 4 747/767 style engines instead. I'm saying this as a matter of physics & logic, not as an idea.... In other words they saw that 2 huge fuel efficient engines would be better than 3 or 4 767 style engines, right?Just a thought....Asim Daffa :-kewlVP, Fleet - Senior First Officerwww.sv-virtual.co…

I was just reading some interesting comments over in the airliners.net forum about Delta. I know they have just one Pacific route left, the ATL-NRT daily with an MD11. They used to fly to a whole bunch of places in Asia not that long ago. What happened? I know they have an extensive European route network beyond London (unlike American and United). There is also a rumor that Delta will drop it's sole ATL-NRT route in December as well concentrating on the US and Europe. I cannot see why they would give up the only Japan route from the southeast US and a precious Narita slot as well. I didn't realixe that with ATL's hot weather that their MD11 daily to Tokyo had to leave wi…

HiI e-mailed a couple more of the FSPLanet sponsors to tell them that we are all sick of Ferdy. I told them that he steals files and and that he has been known to sell them on CD. I sent GLide-Slope a letter a s professional as I could make it but the reply I got leaves a lot to be desired. Although he basicaly told me that he does not believe me and that by signing my name as Mike is nothing more then "Chicken Sh*t". :-roll Even though I felt offended I still want to carry on sending him the evidence. He said that he will need to get e-mails form the authors who had files stolen from them. I know that a lot of people e-mailed me when i was gathering the info to send…

I got a strange email today. Just thought I'd pass this on incase someone else gets this email.Matt

Hi, folks - first post. :) My name's Josh and I was pointed here by a simmer. For a presentation I'm doing, I need to find movie clips of pre-Wright Brothers planes crashing. I think you all know what I'm talking about; whenever Nova or whatever shows a "history of aviation" documentary, they always start with these clips - the guy pedaling the weird bouncy contraption, the three-winged thing, and they always crash. I need to find that, preferably in .mov format. I could also use really old cars, like Model T era, crashing.Anyone know where I could find this, or perhaps have files of this nature they could email me? I would greatly appreciate it.Thanks in advance,Joshua

...it on this board :-shy .I just tried installing Service Pack 3 onto my Windows 2000 Pro system. The installer launched just fine, but when it came to the point where it would contact some M$ server to download the required files there was no response. Therefore, after waiting about ten minutes, I aborted the installation. I rebooted my computer just to be sure and tried again, with the same result. However, after the second try I noticed that there were two folders on my D: partition which had not been there before. Both had cryptic names, such as 2e10fe305d7965aae16244f436649d96, and appeared to have the same content. I don't know what the files they contain might be …
