  1. Hi,when starting up FS 2002 I get an error message which says something like "error in scerney/aso" and that "area.116" cannot be found. I just click OK and then it goes on fine. What does this message mean? What is an aso file (I know WHERE it is, but not WHAT it is)? How can I fix this?CheersChris

Why is it that I see more and more posts which are missing simple civility or common respect anymore? Over the past few days, I've read a number of posts which include words like "stupid," "idiot," "ignorant" and their variants. Many of them are directed at other members of the forums.I may be in the minority here, but I'm really disappointed in the recent trend away from common decency and civility. I don't read the flight simulation forums here or anyplace else to see a flame war... there are limitless options on the Internet if I were to wish to see that. It used to be that the flight simulation forums and newsgroups were among the places where you'd find reasonab…

I've heard all sorts of "wage scales" for pilots/crew etc, most of which ridiculously false. Is there a web site or etc that shows about what everyone from a rookie to a 1st captain generally would earn?

I'll be demonstrating FS2002 AI traffic modifications on my notebook computer after lunch. Does anyone else here have the Just Planes International 67 DVD (London Heathrow and Manchester) ? If so, what is the picture quality like ? I am not entirely happy with this, since the aircraft appear to be "pixellated", and the sky can sometimes exhibit unusual effects. Since this is a DVD, the picture quality should be very high, but that does not appear to be the case here.Chris Low,ENGLAND.

Hi guys,I took a break from flight-simming last week and decided to re-discover my PlayStation 2 in preparation for the upcoming NHL2003... all FS fans are also hockey fans - most of them just don't know it yet! Anyway, during that time, I picked up a copy of Playstation magazine and was pleasantly surprised to find that they included an archive of every game that had ever been reviewed! After "neglecting" my PS2 for many months, I was able to catch up on the "best" titles available for that system by simply browsing through a few pages.I think Avsim should adopt a similar system.... Every title that Avsim reviews (along with its rating) should be presented from a link of…

Since this seems to have not made it to the other forum I'll repost it here and see if it gets a responce.:-lol---------------------------------------------------A long time ago, in a land far, far away, the Imperial forces of the nation known as AVSIM, said they would open a land to be known as, AVSIM Store. The subjects of AVSIM made merry and danced with wine and song for many a night in anticipation of exciting things to come. Such a land was opened and the brave and noble warrior they call, DAN (CYXC), asked the leader of AVSIM a question. "Oh wise and all knowing Master Tom, will the store known as AVSIM contain riches with the AVSIM logo for us to wear about our he…

Dateline Atlanta, GeorgiaSOUTHERN TERRORIST ADVISORY - ATLANTAThe governors of Alabama, South Carolina, Arkansas, Georgia, and Mississippi announced today that they have made a disturbing discovery in their states.Apparently, a small number of Al Qaeda terrorists have become romantically involved with local redneck girls. The result is not pretty and they now have the sad task of reporting the creation of a new ethnic sector of the human race: Islamabubbas. So far, only a smattering of actual births have been reported, but Pat Robertson's Christian Coalition is hard at work trying to isolate and seal them off. To date, the Coalition has identified the following children:Mo…

Is there anybody here familiar with how college basketball teams travel to road games? Charter flights? Commercial? How many usually go as a unit, including staff? (I'm guessing 25-30 people, but I may be way off.) What kind of planes are used, esp. for the smaller airports? I'm thinking of doing a flight series based on one of my favorite teams only I have *no* idea how they travel these days ...Thanks in advance,Dick Muldoon

Hi all,I just got back from the Rockcliffe airfield (CYRO)and the National Aviation Museum where Air Canada flew one of its DC9-32s (Fin No. 711) into the Rockcliffe airport so it could be put on permanent static display at the Museum. The thing is, the runway at CYRO is only 3100 ft x 100 ft with trees and a fence in the final approach parth. They came in and did a low approach to Rwy 27 and then went around and came in for the full-stop landing. Weather was good with winds 230 at 10G15 (bit of a cross-wind). It was a beauty. They put it right on the numbers and managed to stop in only about 2500 ft. Very pretty, very impressive. Very sad (I am a DC-9 fan you could s…

Delta Says More Job Cuts Needed The Associated Press ^ | OCTOBER 15, 2002 | RUSS BYNUMDelta Air Lines reported a wider quarterly loss Tuesday and said more job cuts are on the way as the airline continues to struggle following last year's terrorist attacks. The nation's third-largest airline also said it will continue to slash its flight schedule, defer delivery of all new airplanes and mothball its fleet of large MD-11 aircraft used for long-range flights.``We do not see a near-term improvement,'' Michelle Burns, Delta's chief financial officer, told analysts in a conference call. ``We are very cautious and tough-minded about the remainder of this year and into 2003. I was working outside the other day and noticed an airliner high in the sky above me (I live 90 miles NW of Houston, Tx) heading southerly. He was way to high to be headed into Houston. I got to wondering, where is he headed ? and from whence he came ? Then I got to wondering furthur... how could I find out. So that is my question to y'all... how could I find out the destination of this airliner with only knowing the general heading and time over me ?I actually thought of this the other morning as well. During one of our morning meetings (0700 CDT)I was staring out the window and saw an airliner heading north and wondered the same thing. I was snapped back to the r…

Is there a such thing as a kind of "sponsorship" that an airline might do, to help you pay through flight school? I live in the US, and most of the airlines only hire former military pilots. If I can help it, I don't want to join the military. Also, say that British Airways or some other airline offered such a program. As a US citizen, could I fly for a foreign airline? Thanks!
