Hangar Chat

This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar.  Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here.  Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc.  Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view.  We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

Does anyone know where I can purchase an actual Cessna Citation (I/II/V/etc) flight manual that has a comprehensive explanation of the aircraft systems (like the kind you would receive when getting your type rating)?

Today the city council voted in favour of building a fixed link bridge from the downtown core to the island airport. Not only will this mean increased air traffic and it's associated economical benefits, but it also means that the Bombardier Dash 8 factory in nearby Downsview may have an opportunity to sell as many as 15 Dash-8-Q400 aircraft to a new upstart airline to start operations out of YTZ.This means that those laid off from Bombardier may have a chance at returning to work, not to mention all the other jobs created from construction to ticket agents.Of course this plan had it's enemies, mostly environmentalists who claim that the added pollution, both noise and ch…

  5. All,The famed AASI Jetcruzer aircraft program has been cancelled. The hanger is being cleaned out. Within the auction are a number of fuselage hulls and lots of parts that would be suitable for simulator construction. Don't let the minimum reserve price scare you we are entertaining bids of all sizes and allowing partial bids. Check it out at: http://jetcruzerauction.freewebspace.com/-Mooney Aerospace Group

The appeal for funds for the restoration of the WORLDS LAST VULCAN BOMBER CAPABLE OF FLIGHT, XH558, has just hit a brick wall !!It is Alleged that the UK's "HERITAGE LOTTERY FUND" have now formally refused to assist in the project for what I believe to be very unsatisfactory reasons. The Vulcan To The Sky company have asked for a Miserable

Well the big day finally came yesterday. Went up at Hamilton (Ontario, Canada/CYHM). Was flown in a PA28-140. Before the flight my instructor mentioned that this may be the big day if I handle the wind and everything else correctly. Also gave me my student pilot permit for me to sign and keep a copy of. Weather was:CYHM 232000Z 24013KT 15SM SCT023 OVC083 01/M02 A2986 RMK SC3AC5 SLP123Runway in use was 24, and the magnetic wind was 250 at 13. Ran through the checklist, taxi out passing some Westjet planes and cautiously proceeding through the sanded areas of the runway. Runup complete, we took off. We did three touch and goes and one full stop altogether. A C152 from anoth…

Hi all,Today I had to do something today I have been dreading for weeks, I had to go to my local airport(EGNT)and cancel all my flying lessons. The company(www.darkblack.co.uk) who I worked for went into liquidation on monday and I am now unemployed, and as such I cant afford to fly any more. Its been 4 weeks since I last had a lesson and I miss flying so much. I only had 12 hours flying time and I had just started doing my circuits (got 3 in, spent 45mins holding on my first lesson doing circuits, my holdings now great!), Wouldn't have been long before I went solo. I hope to get flying again soon but I am not holding my breath. Sorry for the rantAsylum.

Friends,I recall reading, on various forums here and elsewhere, that some people have been subject to intrusive POPUP messages in Windows. This is a particularly intrusive and annoying method of spamming, that I think should be addressed.I have recently been subject to these 'popups', which, incidently, drops you out of any game you are playing. Very, very annoying.Anyway... I think I have found a solution to this, but I guess the proof of the pudding will be whether or not I receive any more messages! Here is a method...Disabling this service in no way changes the functioning of MSN Instant Messenger. To disable it in Windows XP:Right-Click on "My Computer" (on your de…

Hi!We are getting 10 to 20 virus emails with the same return path a week on our small business server. It has been going on for at least 3 months and is obviously intentional. The return path (not From in header) is spoofed. Is it possible to determine the original sender? I would like to notify their ISP. Thanks BobP :)

The reason behind American Airlines distinctive, polished aluminum skin is not just cosmetic; it's financial. For example, not only do they save money by not using extra paint, American Airlines saves about $400,000 a year in fuel costs in it's 260 plus MD-80 fleet as well.Robb

Author: Patrick WordenFlight Engineer Auburn Calloway knew his career was about to end. His employer, Federal Express, had recently uncovered a series of irregularities and outright falsifications in both his original employment application and in hundreds of hours of flight records. He was ordered to appear at a disciplinary hearing in the second week of April, 1994. He understood that the likeliest outcome of such a hearing would be his termination, and subsequently the loss of his FAA flight certification. His solution was as simple as it was horrifying. He would provide for his family financially, end his own life, and in the process he would punish FedEx in the worst …

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that the FIA have taken the easy way out with respect to the new rules in Formula One ? Personally, I would have liked to have seen another suggestion implemented. This was that each driver would race for every team for the first ten races. Now THAT would sort out who was the best driver. Sadly, this hasn't happened. So, let's have a look at what HAS changed.THE FIRST EIGHT PLACES WILL WIN POINTS..........So what ? Will this change anything ? No, it won't. The best cars will still win, which means Schumacher and Barrichello.TWO QUALIFYING SESSIONS, WITH ONLY ONE LAP FOR EACH DRIVER IN BOTH.........Granted, this will make a decent f…
