Well folks, the new forum system was not ready for prime time, as they say. It worked fine with only a few folks on at any given time, but given the load of this morning, we found that it bound up the server's processes pretty durned quickly. That, and there a few other issues that didn't become apparent until we had users using it. So, we have shut it down and gone back to the "old" forum. For those that posted messages in the new forums, those are now gone, as there is no way for us to import those to this system.

Hello folks,I've written a tool called FS 2002 Flight Assistant (FS 2002 FA) - perhaps you know it - which is a virtual co-pilot for flight simulation enthusiasts. It provides speech recognition services and also speech output, see http://www.thelindercompany.de.vu/ for more information.I am working on a new version at the moment, and I would like to ask you whether you know how I could improve the program. Which functions could I add? What do you dislike? I am waiting for your opinions...Thanks in advance!

Gents,I have just recently upgraded the old 56k to a cable modem, service from Cox Cable.Included in the mid level package ( 1.5 mbps down the river ) is a nasty little data transfer cap of 7.5 gigs per month.Knowing that our hobby can eat up a large helping of data transfer ( online weather/atc programs, downloads, multiplayer, etc ), can someone recommend a good tool that will monitor and document my transfer levels ? Unfortunately, Cox does not seem to have a place for me to log in and check my current monthly usage.....ala cpanel for a web site.I have come across a few programs that would seem to be what I am looking for, but I would first like to hear what you would …

Dear All, I work at Bristol airport, doing flight check-in and boarding, mainly on the KLM Cityhopper flights to Amsterdam. I'm creating some posters to go on the desks that will have the security questions in a number of languages so that non-english speaking travellers are able to confidently answer them. We did have them provided by the airline but the questions we ask have now changed. If any of you are able to translate the following questions and title into one of the languages i need i'd be very grateful, the questions and title are: Important Security Questions:Could anyone have interfered with your luggage? Has anyone asked you to take anything on your flight?…

Just like the title said- what gifts did you get this year?I got a Logitech keyboard and mouse:http://gearmedia.ign.com/gear/image/logite..._face_small.jpg http://y2k.centre.net.au/prod/img/LOG0148.jpgVery cool optical mouse, and the keyboard is the best I have ever used, with buttons to launch webpages, programs, control the volume, mute, play/stop/forward/back/pause, and a scroller on the left side with a back button, which makes webbrowsing much easier.I also got the book "Kings of Convergence" about the media moguls here in Canada (The Aspers and CanWest, BellGlobal, Shaw, BCE...). Great topic, since I studied media convergence and it's impact on Canadian society last…

Posted the below in the 727 forum earlier today, Tom suggested though that this would be a better forum for this post:-------------Hi,A few months ago I got really interested in the flight sim idea. I am a private pilot but in the flight sim FS2002 I saw some possiblities in flying big airliners too.I quickly found out that the default 737-400 became my favourite. I also found out quickly it wasn't "enough"So I experimented with updating the FS2002 737-400s' flight dynamics. It became more interesting. But not enough. So I bought some payware planes.I quickly felt that these are complex aircraft and noticed that good payware stuff was able to provide a much higher level of…

A wee one at that... it is because we are hosting the newly released "PushBack" release and the system is working to provide the downloads to the many customers of this release. This too will pass in a day or two. Expect to have full speed services shortly. :)

I was going thru some old pictures and found this, so I scanned it.I think this is a DC3. It flew over my parent's house, I'm guessing, between 7-8am. This was may be 10 years ago, in the Woodbridge, NJ area.Apparently, the state was spraying for mosquitoes or something. I read later that it was flying out of Linden (KLDJ).

Hi,just started using Active Sky. Cool. Only little problem: I don't 100% understand the messages issued. For instance, when it reads "RPLL 311700 03002KT 4000 FU FEW022 SCT100 26/23 Q1013 SMOKE ALDQS"Then I understand:"RPLL" (=the station)"311700" (=date and zulu time)"03002KT" (=wind direction and time)and "Q1013" (=altimeter pressure),but the rest I don't understand in detail. I know it has to do with clouds and visibility (I guess SCT is "scattered"), but can someone give me the details and tell me wether the above is right? CheersChris

Just to add a little realism I want to change ATC frequencies and Transponder myself rather than have FS do it for me automatically. How can I disable the automatic setting of frequencies?Chris

As 2002 comes to a close, we have been looking back over the past year at our system performance and some of the areas that we might improve on during 2003. We were, and still are, somewhat agoggle about some of the statistics that our readership has generated over the past year, and thought we would share some of these with you. We think you will find some of these very interesting (stats as of 4 a.m. on 12/27/02):Total Annual Hits:Web Server: 430.4 millionLibrary: 582.9 millionAverage Monthly Hits:Web Server: 35.9 millionLibrary: 48.6. millionSome Library Stats:Total files served: Over 363.7 millionTotal Visits: 10.5 millionTotal Bandwidth served: 25+ TerrabytesSome Web…

I am fairly new to using Flight Sims, and fairly new to realistic flying methods. I have been reading and following tutorials (from FS2002), and I don't quite understand how trim works and when/where you should use it.Can someone point me to a good resource for understanding it without having to take full flying lessons? Thanks!

Sure is busy around here this morning in Fresno... I went outside for a smoke, and I saw no less than 10 contrails and a couple of GA planes coming over my house at about 2,000 AGL. Neat stuff.

Hi,Can anyone please tell me what callsigns Boeing and Airbus use when conducting test flights of new aircraft?Do they use the airline callsign that the aircraft is painted in or do they have their own callsign. If so, are these available in FS2002?Many thanks,Steve.

OK, given there are so many repaints for FSP planes around, I guess I must be the only person on the planet not having them - but where can I find those models?CheersChris
