Due to broken overcast conditions over the weekend, Sky Harbor was routing flights a bit farther out and on different flight paths than normal, and we had aircraft approaching our home about every 45-60 seconds approx 2-3000 ft. AGL. I caught a glimpse of the ATA 737-800--the one with winglets. Thought it was very interesting to look at....the winglets looked much larger in proportion to the wings than other aircraft I've seen. It makes me wonder...what do pilots think of winglets? How do they influence the way the aircraft feels, and do they tend to make the aircraft more stable on the yaw axis? Here's a link to an airliners.net shot of the ATA '800.... It certainly …

Hello, This is my first post here and I wish it was a good one. On Friday the 28th of March I purcahsed the Ready for Pushback 747-200 for download. I was unsuccessfull in downloading it and sent an email notifying the staff of my problem immediately. I recieved a response later that night notifying me that the person responsible would not be in the office until tomorrow. I waited patiently on Saturday and still nothing happened. I then placed a phone call to the number provided on the site. No response to that either. Today I tried calling several times and got a message that "the party you are calling is not answering, please try your call again later" I have since sent…

Just wondering...What is the "best" ---- fastest, most powerful, perhaps longest range, general aviation aircraft that can be flown by just one pilot. Is it the Meridian? King Air?thanks,Mark.

If the wings are traveling faster than the fuselage, it's probably a helicopter -- and therefore, unsafe. Navy carrier pilots to Air Force pilots: Flaring is like squatting to pee. When one engine fails on a twin-engine airplane, you always have enough power left to get you to the scene of the crash. Without ammunition ... the USAF would be just another expensive flying club. What is the similarity between air traffic controllers and pilots? If a pilot screws up, the pilot dies; if ATC screws up, the pilot dies. [unable to display image] Never trade luck for skill. The three most common expressions (or famous last words) in aviation are: "Why is it doing that?", "Wh…

Now they're implementing a "security" profiling system using "credit reports and bank account activity"...I'll bet all it does is highlight folks with poor financial situations for scrutiny and harassment by the airline. Right up there with their "no pictures" rule...nonsense.Another intrusion in the name of "security"...which, like the others, won't do anything. I'm watching my activities getting more attention and restrictions...flying, high power rocketry etc. Am I some sort of threat to my country? All the new regulations and pending legislations seem to imply I'm somehow dangerous...even though I've had 2 background checks in the last 7 months (TSA and local school d…

For those of you that admire a really nice Beaver (Hey, the airplane you dirty minded old crows) and are Sportsmen and subscribe to or can othewise get you hands on the March edition of "Field and Stream, there is a pretty good article on how the de Havilland Beaver is making a bigger comeback than ever as a plane used by sportsmen in the Northwest. We all know of its use but the article talks about prices and how old wrecks are being dug up from every where and being pressed back into serviced and about how the number of flyable planes is growing... It's a good article... Read it if you get the chance...Ron Mashburn

This is an old article from Avweb profiling Rod Machado. I thought some might be interested in it. (Gotta wonder about his judgment though. The CFI keeps say Rod wouldn't have sent me for my checkride if he didn't think I was ready and I haven't passed it yet! ;(http://64.39.20.32/articles/profiles/rmachado/

Dear sir,Thank you for contacting Delta Airlines regarding the situation with our personnel at the Washington Regan National Airport. It has been requested by our Executive offices that I address any concern you may have with our personnel. We are sorry to hear of the surrendering of your film and the handling you endured after photographing one of our aircraft at the gate. It has been determined that we do not have an established policy that prohibits photographing a Delta aircraft while waiting at the gate. Only when security areas or procedures are recorded is there a violation. Therefore, no Delta policy or regulation was breached by your actions mentioned in your …

I'd be very interested to know what routes Qantas used across the Pacific before the 747-400 was introduced. I know they now fly non-stop between Sydney and Los Angeles with the -400. I'm guessing in the days of the 747-200 they must have needed a stop somewhere enroute? Hawaii perhaps? Also current British Airways and Qantas routes between London and Sydney have stops in either Singapore or Bangkok. I presume this was also the case when these airlines operated the -200 on these routes?Cheers.

I'm really looking into joining their academy down in Florida and I was wondering if anybody knows anything about how good the school is. Sorry to be asking it here but I really do not know any pilots that can help me with this question. I am interested in any flight schools if somebody has a suggestion also. Thanks!Dave
