Hi guys :-)The good old daysIf you lived as a child in the 60's, 70's or 80's, looking back, it's hardto believe that we have lived as long as we have...As children, we would have ridden in cars with no seat belts or air bags. Our cots were covered with bright coloured lead-based paint. We had nochildproof lids on medicine bottles, doors, or cupboards, and when we rodeour bikes we had no helmets. We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle. Horrors. We would spend hours building go-carts out of scraps and then ride down thehill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes afewtimes we learned to solve the problem. We would leave home in…

Hi all,Just as I got home from work today I observed two sets of contrails in the sky, the eastern one was white and another a short distance west was black. They were far enough apart to not be the same aircraft, yet close enough to obviously be flying together.I live west of Baltimore, Maryland. Any ideas? I checked the news and nothing's going on. The aircraft would have been approximately 330 degrees at 16 miles from BWI. Tim Dobrowolsky

Does anyone know the rules about takings pictures on airline flights? I'm taking a flight tonight and I'd like to snap a pic or two, I'm wondering if I'm gonna get shot doing that since they're usually in a pissy mood anyway. Thanks!ps: If not, then I'll use my watch which is a digi-cam as well. :)

At this time two small aircraft, a Piper Cheyenne and an unnamed Cessna have collided over the city of Denver. The Cessna lost a wing and crashed into a house...minutes later bursting into flame. The Piper ended up in an inverted flat spin, crashing into a backyard, miraculously not hitting anything. 3 deceased (all on the aircrafts) and only minor injuries to persons on the ground. Possible 4th death in the destroyed house, unconfirmed, now being reported. The aircraft are reported to be from Centennial and Jeffco airports. Both under "flight-following" at low altitude. A third pilot, with a student, reported a conversation between ATC and the aircraft involved, with a t…

Hi,For the dutch readers among us: Nu.nl has some news about a new technology that can increase air traffic by 30%. http://nu.nl/news.jsp?n=101302&c=30It has been used since last year. But today it will be officially put into use. Eurocontrol in maastricht is used for control over the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and a part of Germany in one controlcenter.

I wonder what it is with NWA and moving aircraft, just a year ago or so an A320 in LAS was being moved and hit ended up hitting a light pole and had a fair amount of damage. Than they had an aircraft in Memphis go threw the gate and another SAAB in Memphis roll into some type of drain area. Here is the story. http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2003-0...ne-bridge_x.htm

Just a random thought here. Was listening to the latest single by the Red Hot Chili Peppers on the radio and wondered if thses guys like flying. There are lyrics like "Take off in a Liberator...aviator"or something like that, I won't mention their silly "airplane" video a few years ago.:-roll On the other hand have really gotten back inot Tolkein because of the Lord of the Rings films, and will re-read the trilogy. Tolkein hated airplanes, well any modern industrial technology pretty much, clear enough in the second film and an important theme in his books.

Now that the Comcast/ATT broadband merger is about complete, Comcast said is has nothing to do with the ATT users, so your e-mail is about to change from (name)@attbi.com to (name)@comcast.com.Of course if you have a user name that already exists under @comcast.com, you lose. This all happens probably mid February. This is why I never use an ISP e-mail address.Good luck.

Are there any WinXP experts around? I just upgraded to XP Home from WinME. So far, so good. However, I cannot figure out how to get the "Search" function in IE to work. I've followed the instructions from the Help and Support Center, but when clicking on "Search", I get a "Unable to Connect" error stating the web site is unavailable or I've lost my net connection. I'm on a cable modem, and able to surf the net.Anybody know what's up with that? I've tried all the options available, to no avail. Thanks,Darrell

Sounds like this year's version of Turbotax has a very nasty copy protection scheme. It's limited to installation on ONE machine. Period. No exceptions (this from Intuit support). You can't install it on a laptop to start your taxes, then finish on a desktop with internet and printer support. If your computer croaks part way into tax preparation and you have to buy a new computer or even a new component (HD for instance), you can't install TT on the new machine to finish. You have to buy a new copy. If you have to recreate your return several years down the road (not uncommon) you can't reinstall turbotax to do this unless you still have the identical machine. How many pe…

Hi All,Here's a heads up to those facing the pending Registered Air Traveler scheme (RAT) likely to be implemented by the current US government (and being studied in the EU):http://www.wired.com/news/politics/0,1283,55536,00.htmlThis system is absolutely primed to be abused by any of the thousands of people who will have access to these systems and "security" procedures (the world is full of nut-cases, ladies and gentlemen).Got a grudge against someone or some group for whatever reason and want to harass them? Hate a particular ethnic person or group because you're a racist? Have any of a million other plausible yet deranged reasons to hurt someone? Well, if you work i…

I hear from friends in New Zealand that the papers are full of this in the past few days, can anyone confirm? I'm unsure about Australia. With Qantas poised to take over Air New Zealand, that will leave a very uncompetitive situation (one airline effectively) on this route. I was in New Zealand for the Holidays, and pax loads (on UA) were full to the extent that they were looking for volunteers to take the next day's flight. Maybe low yields for the cost structure of the flight down there are the motivating force?Bruce.
