Hey gang,What's the difference between a WAC and a sectional chart? I own the sectionals for Atlanta and Seattle, so at least I know what one of those looks like! The WACs seem to cover more area, but that may just be a difference in the scale.Any input is appreciated.

I read last night on an airline pilot forum where UPS may be making a major announcement on their flight ops tomorrow (Tuesday 3/25), and even their larger operation as a whole. Rumored is the debut of the B777-F, and even the acquisition of another cargo operator. Bruce.

For fans of simulators who are in or around SoCal:I recently was in SoCal, and dropped by Disney's California Adventure park. Never a fan of simulator rides (I've felt that in most, the movement never jived with what you are seeing), I gave this one a try after my wife took a couple hours break from our toddler, leaving me in the hotel room entertaining our toddler, while she braved the park on our own. She gave the attraction rave reviews, and said I'd like it (she knows my simming habits).I have to agree--the ride is worth a visit to the park alone. Disney uses sight, sound, touch, movement, and smell to simulate flight better than anything I've ever seen. The attra…

I have just returned from a Motocross weekend at Donington Park, which is directly adjacent to East Midlands Airport. Being interested in airliners (and having my camcorder with me), I was looking forward to getting a fair amount of film footage. Unfortunately, I experienced one major problem.THE AIRPORT WAS INCREDIBLY EMPTY.I was really surprised (and shocked) that such a large airport could be wasted to such an extent. In fact, it was so quiet that some guy was doing multiple touch-and-go's in his Cessna :-eekFor anyone who doesn't know anything about East Midlands Airport, it is a relatively modern large airport in central England (just south of Nottingham). The runway…

Hi guys & Gals (Maybe),I hate to bring this into the forum but I have been trying to think of the name of this movie for a couple months now & want to buy it, please somebody help with this stupid question!!!The Movie: "A true story of an Airliner that looses hydraulic power and the pilot needs to fly it completely by the thrusters alone, the pilot gets it to touch down and it rolls down the runway". Actual video clips of the real event are seen on shows like real TV etc... but I would love to see this movie again but can't remember the name, please help a veteran with his bad memory! Thanks to all who have at least read this!!! Hello Bill,Just received my copy of your CD about the L-188 electra and I have to say. Very Nice Work. It really brought back memories of my involvement with Reeves when they were operating. The Alaska flying scenes and music composition were really done well. Thanks again to you and everyone for making such a nice Tribute to the Lockheed L-188 Electra in all her final glory days of Passenger Service.DG in Anchorage

In recent months I've become more and more inclined towards flying the older jets. I like to base my flights on real life routes. This is pretty easy for current airline fleets and routes as I just have to look at the relevant airline's website to find their timetable, or use www.flightlookup.comHowever, it's a little more difficult for older jets that aren't flown any more or airlines that no longer exist...e.g. 707, 727, 737-200, 747-100/200, DC-8, DC-9, DC-10, BAC 1-11, VC-10, Trident, etcPan Am, BOAC, BEA, Eastern, TWA, Canadian, etcDoes anyone know of any sources on the internet where I can find details of what aircraft and/or routes were flown with these older jets …

do not wish anyone to start a discussion regarding the wrongs and rights or the politics involved, but what I do know is that we should all spare a thought at this time for the citizens of Baghdad this evening as they must be undergoing the most terrifying experience imaginable. Tonight, many Men, Women, and Children will be in grave danger... I am sure that there must be many fellow flight simmers among them who unlike us tonight do not have the option of posting to this forum or relaxing with a good session of FS. Instead their very safety is in the balance as the horrible spectre of conflict visits them once again. It seems strange to be enjoying my computer tonight un…

Hello guys,I practiced hard for the written test I'm going to take next week (my first one), but for some reasons I'm very afraid of taking it. I know the stuff (because I learned it from an ASA book and the Gleim) but still I have a strange feeling. When you did the test, how was it like? Did you had the option of a), :(, or c) like in the Gleims? Was the questions exactly like the Gleims? Do you have a watch that takes your time? Do you see the FAA questions no. in the test? Can you put questions away for later that you are not sure of?Greetings,Christopher- - - - - - - - - - - - -www.rhodesyell.com/fly/My little aviation websiteRead my first solo report!

I just saw some NBC footage of some troops loading into a blackhawk at night time. It looked like the tips of the rotors were lit up. Now, I know that the tips of main rotors are usually colored yellow or something, but they appeared to be glowing. Perhaps they were just reflecting light, or were they in fact emitting light? Anyone more learned on this subject- I would be very grateful to know what the deal is.

I got FS2002 for Christmas 15 months ago and have played it (religiously) ever since. I went through the lessons for the PPL and failed the check ride many times. Then, out of frustration, I researched the topic and found many folks had the same experience. Some of the folks published step-by-step procedures on how to pass the checkride. Some of them may have even had instructions on how to cheat the system, but I can't remember for sure. I did not download these procedures because I wanted the satisfaction of passing the check ride honestly (i.e., I wanted to "earn" it). Months passed and I forgot all about the check ride because I was having too much fun exploring…

Hi, I have a simple question. I just saw a small clip of an F-22 Raptor performing a stall maneuver on the history channel. What was interesting about it was that there appeared to be something attached to the F-22. It was between the tail fins, it was red, and made of a series of connected bars that made a triangle shape with a small box shape at the apex. Does anybody know what this is?

  19. Are there any complex departures or arrivals in/out of KLGA, similar to that Kennedy Nine departure at KJFK? I figure the Kennedy Nine is designed to protect KLGA and KTEB ops, I'm not sure what is required at KLGA to protect other NYC airspace. Any info much appreciated.Thanks,Bruce.
